First time here and had a great experience. Was nervous to go in on a sunday especially to a new place but I really needed a fill. Judy took her time and made sure my nails came out perfect. Great customer service. I've never been there before and came in as a walk-in, after I cracked my nail in half (very painful). When I asked the man at the front desk if he had anyone available to fix it, he was more than happy to help. I felt like I had been there a thousand times before. He sympathized with me and made my experience really awesome. He even went out of his way to look for colors that matched mine. It was great. The establishment is also beautiful and clean. Horrible! Called ahead to make an appointment and asked if they had non latex gloves bc I'm severely allergic and they said yes. When I arrived they were not ready for me and took several people ahead of me and to add insult to injury, when it was "my turn", they didn't have the non-latex gloves. Total waste of my time. I don't leave reviews. In fact this is my first review ever so you know it was a nightmare.......I have been coming here for YEARS. and I work in the industry as well, I'm a hair stylists so I understand times are tough for industries at the moment. They have Covid plastic covers up to protect guests from each other so they are able to work under a 6ft limit. Well as the guy is taking off my gel polish, the wood pole holding up the plastic wrap falls and hits me in the face. He doesn't stop taking my polish off, and allowed the plastic wrap and the wooden pole to continue to dangle in front of my face after hitting me lol. I noticed that they had tried fixing this pole because there were two screws hanging out of it, and tape that wasn't even sticky anymore hanging on for dear life. Instead of relocating me to a different station he tries to attach the now detached wooden pole that is snapped in half, now calling another employee over to help him fix it. I say "can I sit at another station I don't wanna be hit in the face again" they proceed to say "no no it's fine it's fine" and I again say "the wood is split in half and isn't even attached to the original piece and is going to keep falling can I sit at a different station" "no Ill fix it". As they put used tape that doesn't even have a sticky adhesive to it anymore around the pole AND the nail station to prevent the wooden pole from falling again. What do you know, within seconds the pole falls again and the pole and the plastic wrap hit me once again. I get up and storm out. And they were all calling for me to come back. Lol. This place used to be very classy. But now it's just money hungry and does not care about customers. I would of taken a picture of the whole fiasco but I wanted to have a "relaxed" environment with no work calls or distractions so I left my phone in the car. Such a relaxed experience. read more

Went on a Saturday afternoon for a gel manicure. I was trying to find a color I wanted and ended up getting rushed by a staff member. She was rude and did a half-ass job. My nails were chipping by Sunday! My cuticles weren't even done properly and the color isn't even!! This was the worst manicure I've ever had, I would have done a better job and I absolutely suck at doing my own nails. She spent more time painting the edge of my nail than she did on anything else. To start off I have been coming here for years. Their nails that they do are great. HOWEVER this last week they not only hurt my niece by grabbing and pulling on her they cut her twice and didn't say anything about it. When I left I tipped and they then pointed and said "that's it" then laughed as I was walking out. I will not be returning which is disappointing because I really loved coming here. I have been to a few nail salons in the area, I generally will go to this one because of their large staff, I don't wait long and usually go with a girlfriend or two. I am only giving them a 3 star review because they don't use any base/top coat for the nail polish which always leads to them chipping so fast and is really frustrating. I do my nails a lot on my own so it's not the end of the world but last time they seriously lasted less than 72 hours. I haven't been overcharged like other people have reported but I always write "$0 cash tip" on the tip line and write in the full amount on the total line so it can't be changed without obvious signs so I thankfully haven't had that happen. read more

This place is just terrible. If you're really desperate to get your nails done I should just go in for Aaron he is more professional, nice, and overall friendly and knows what he's doing. During Covid I believe that the owner switched so this nail salon has gone down the drain. I had one guy that cut my cuticle and it bled for two days. I have given this place more than 1 chance Oct 2017 - gel nails done by large female asian woman - 1) less than 1 week, 7 of 10 nails chipped. Came back- she fixed but with an attitude 2) Overcharged - brought to their attention- she said oops sorry and gave me the difference in cash. Nov 2017 - nails done by same large asian woman - again overcharged, again.. said oops sorry :( December 2017 - nails done again by asian woman - overcharged again- same story -oops sorry with fake smile February 2018- made appt - was running late, called while driving to advise of tardiness- woman answering phone said ok. when arrived Large Asian woman, said in a loud tone "you Late", you should call.. I told her I did, she repeated herself you late, next time you call, in a louder voice and turned red. I walked out & told her forget it, you're nasty & I'm not giving you my business.. I first started going to chocolate spa in Monroe and had Chris and Kevin & they were great but Kevin didn't work as much because he had a baby.i started to go to Lily in New Windsor location. I love her she does my nails great. This facility is a littler bigger and very nice and clean looking. With so many gel nail polishes you are overwhelmed. The salon offered many options to do your nails in acrylic,gel, SNS,Acrylic gel and more every time I'm there they are very nice to everyone who just walks in even without an appointment. The only problem I see is that these people tip their nail technicians 2,3,4$ for a full set or pedicure. I MEAN REALLY?! DONT COME AND GET A LUXURY SERVICE IF YOU CANT AFFORD A TIP... maybe if you tipped them well they would be nicer .. This is how they make their money off of TIPS. read more

I'd been coming here since my family and I had moved to West Point and was generally pleased. The facility is large, clean and modern with many workers. I always came in 1-2x monthly for a fill on my nails and pedicures- both with gel polish spending at least 80 each time including a deluxe pedicure. Anyhow, I became displeased when the owner's wife tried to insinuate I was using someone else's "discount card!" First of all the whole rewards program is laughable. As much as I've been spending here the past 6 months, obviously I don't need to try and stiff this business out of a few dollars! Furthermore I kept all receipts from each visit showing where my card wasn't working. One of her OWN workers attested to such and signed her name on my receipt (see pic) but she wasn't hearing this. (Notice how the rewards go down on the pics). However, I cannot support a business that accuses a customer of such-stealing in other words. The tech who did my nails was fine-- she did a good job. BUT-- I won't be going here again. This place does NOT use pre-packaged, clean tools for manicures! The emery board (which looked about down to it's last nubs), cuticle pusher, nail clippers, and cuticle nipper were all just sitting on a little tray (which itself didn't look too clean). Every other place I have gone, the techs take fresh tools out of a sealed cello packet. Not this place. When the tech was done pushing my cuticles (I asked her not to use the clippers; she didn't understand English enough when I was asking for fresh tools), she simply swished them in the cool water that had been soaking my nails and put them back on her tray. Friend and I had an appointment for 11, at 11:45 we were in the chair with our nail techs. That's right 45 minutes after our scheduled time, when we should have been in our dry time. My friends chair was filthy, nail or skin dust everywhere. She had to ask for the chair to please be wiped down. The tech said "okay"and then continued to talk in another language, ignoring us. Both my friends and myself are pregnant, neither tech helped us into or out of our chairs, or even over to the drying station. Then I was charged $10 over the actual price of my pedicure, so worth to, I drastically overpaid. Later in the day my toe really started to hurt, the next day it was clearly infected. Additionally, the skin on my legs also started to peel from the service. I called to let them know about what had happened and they acted like they're was nothing they could do, refused to give me a refund for the service, and said that no one they're had ever gotten an infection. First time coming here off a friends recommendation. She said Judy was the girl she always went to so I obliged. I asked for a regular mani pedi. She rushed through both jobs in under 45 mins and charged me $50. When I asked why it was so much she pointed to a sign that read " due to the price increases of our supplies and the rise of min wage there will be small price changes ". I went for a simple pedicure. My first time here. The guy finished my pedicure within 15 minutes. Super disappointed. They were very rude. I went with my mom and aunt. It was $117 for 3 pedicures. The lady that did my mom's pedicure wrote her own tip down on the receipt making the total $150. My mom was livid. Who does that. She had noticed and crossed it out because she was going to give a cash tip. When my mom went to give her a cash tip the lady counted it in front of her and gave her a dirty look like it wasn't enough. The man who did my nails came up to me at the drying table and said "give me tip" he stood there hovering me and following me until I handed him something. I felt VERY uncomfortable. They continued to call us names as we left when we did nothing wrong. I would NOT recommend this place at all. They are very rude and not very sanitary. Disgusting service after they chemically burned my feet! Right after it happened the manager called to apologize and give me a refund since her husband had the nerve to actually charge me for the service. She told me that she would give me my next visit as a treat since they had burned my feet so bad I wouldn't walk or wear shoes for almost a week. After a couple months I decided to give them another chance bc they were a clean facility but she magically forgot all the begging she had done and her being thankful that I didn't cause a scene at the time. I went there today with my sister for a mani/pedi. I've been only a handful of times and Wendy has always been my manicurist. Each time, she's unfriendly, rushes through my service, and never seems satisfied with the tip I give her, even though I tip 20%. During my manicure, I asked her to trim my natural nails. She cut them so short, the skin attached to my nail was cut on a few of them and one even bled. She didn't seem to care all that much and continued on. I always hope my next trip will be more pleasant, since my sister likes it there. Wishful thinking. If you decide to give this place a try, ask for my sister's person, Sharon. This nail salon has the WORST Customer Service! All of the staff are nasty and rude! I went there the other night to get Fills and a pedicure. I walked in at 6:45 and told them what I needed done. They began yelling in Chinese to each other three staff members, while I stood there. I was told No I could only get my nails done as they close at 7PM (early in my opinion). Then a woman came over and very rudely and harsh Told me to pick a color I explained I get gel and proceeded to look at the colors when she came over because I guess I was taking too long (literally 2 minutes) and told me she would do something nice to my nails that she had done earlier that day. She cut my skin twice while filing my nails then proceeds to paint my nails in a very ugly green color that I would have never picked out. I told her I did not like the color and she told me wait till they were dry. She tells me to put my hands into the UV light machine to dry the polish when I feel something drop on my finger I look in and it's a spider!! I pull my hand out so fast and she yells at me to put them back and I explain to her there's a spider in there and she said no no bug and I said yes there is ! she looks and sees it , takes a nail file out and kills the bug and puts the nail file back into her draw doesn't even throw it away and then tells me to put my hand back into the machine in which I told her she needed to clean it first so she takes the brush that she just got done brushing my nails off with to clean out the machine and put that back in the drawer as well! I was so disgusted with not only their negative , nasty and rude attitude but the overall hygiene of what I just witnessed . Never will I go back there. read more

I have been coming to Chocolate for a few years, despite all the bad reviews I've heard from my peers. This time around I understood their reputation. I called for an appointment for 5:30PM, for a dip powder removal + dip powder mani, and regular pedicure. I got to the salon at 5:30, and they didn't sit me until 6:00PM despite my appointment time. When the lady began doing my nails, she claimed that I had acrylic and needed a fill not dip powder. I told her multiple times that it was not acrylic and the lady did dip powder. Then she told me if I wanted dip powder it'll be 12$ extra for "removal" so I let her do the "acrylic." Then, she told me to come back tomorrow for my pedicure because since I had "acrylic" and not what I claimed I had, they won't have enough time to do my pedicure... Um no. The manicure took less than an hour, around the same time a dip powder would have taken. They didn't have enough time to do my pedicure because they took 30 minutes to sit me down, despite my appointment. And on top of it my nails came out super thick. I am very disappointed in my appointment today and the services I received. read more

Overpriced! The sign says 20% off in the window but when you go to pay they will charge you the regular price then insist that is 20% off. When you show them the price in the brochure they have on their desk they just stare blankly at you. It also took them an hour and a half to do a gel manicure. An hour and a half! Most places are closed Sundays so I really wanted this place to work out for me.... First time I went was for a pedicure.They seemed very rushed doing my pedicure and they used tiny napkins that you get a pizza shop to dry my feet and to separate my toes. I thought that was strange...Second time I went for a new Acrylic set with gel polish. Woman did a horrible job, again she seemed rush, acrylic was all lumpy and she seemed annoyed when I asked her to even out my nails and fix the lumps. I went back again to try someone else for my fill and they did a slightly better job. However, the final straw was when I arrived at 6:40pm for a fill on a Thursday evening and they would not take me because they close at 7pm. WHAT?!!!! Every business I know closes the door at their closing time (whatever that is) but doesn't turn customers away 20 minutes before. I'll never go here again! I am very disappointed. I went there because my regular salon was to busy to take me. At first I thought it might be ok, even though it was kind of dirty ( not really dirty, but messy) then I had a woman named Jenny do my nails with a powder gel. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. The tips of my nails are ragged, the sides have glue of polish on them, the tips of the fingernail is missing color, but the lighting in the salon is so poor you don't notice until you are outside. This place is great! I'm so hard on my nails. I get gel uv nails done here they hold up very nicely! They aren't always in the best mood or the nicest customer service but they do a great job. I usually tire to make an appointment with Lilly, she's nicest the only one who doesn't alway seem irritated. I get pedicures here often too which are good as well. They like to use really hot water though. Like burn your skin off hot even though I always tell them it's going to be too hot. They do cool it down though which is appropriated. But pretty great place. It's about an hour drive for me but worth it because it's the only place that my nails are strong enough to hold up to me being hard on them and not taking the best care of them. read more

Im a frequent customer. Up until now, i have enjoyed my experiences at Chocolate. I chose a color. They did not have the color(not the 1st time this has happened). No problem. I asked for fall flowers on one finger. Nail artist says no problem. When its time for the design the gentleman ask what colors. Im like "fall" but okay..orange, yellow, gold...he says no white. I say no, i dont want white. Then he says "too many colors and proceeds to tell me the cost of each color. i ask for one design whatever it costs, i don't expect to pay $5 per color in the design. Now the other nail techs are speaking in their language. I ask again..can you do the design? So, now another tech comes over to help and proceeds to draw the traditional nail art whisp. I say no , i asked for flowers please. The nail tech literally says hes done puts a top coat and i walk out with no design. I was tempted not to pay but i recall the recent news story in Brooklyn where a customer was beat up. Im so disappointed that Chocolate Spa where you are supposed to get an upscale experience would let a regular Customer walk out like that. I shall not return. My nail tech name was Kevin.
