There is ample parking on the street, and there are plenty of benches (I think 10 or 12) that are all under shady trees. There's a water fountain and separate faucet for the dogs, a little run/park for small or shy dogs, and lots of poop bag dispenser things. There are two weird things, though: The park is directly next to the train tracks, so that can be loud. The dogs didn't seem to care very much, but it was really obnoxious for the rest of us. And I don't know if this is normal or not, but the gates to get into the park have really strong magnets instead of latches, and there's a warning for people with pacemakers to stay 12 feet away. That's a strange decision. It's a beautiful park with tons of room and big, established trees for shade. The train can be loud in general, but especially initially when they're laying on the horn full blast.

Yes we travel…read more What this very nice dog park has: Small section Large dog section Water Trash cans Bags provided Excellent parking everything needed and easily found (just keep driving, it's at the end). Freeway visible from the park. It's a little isolated, but that doesn't bother me. Nice staff taking trash out! Nice patrons with their dogs. People are friendly and talk to you. In both sections there are dig marks under the far tractor gates (opposite parking lot) where dogs can get out. I would fix that if it were me. It appears that big dogs go in the small dog section as is evidenced by lack of picking up dog poop. It's not terrible, but the 3-4 big piles I picked up in a small area speaks. It's not hard people, pick up after your dogs. Since my dog wrote a book on dog parks (it's a funny, yet practical guide) I figure I should leave the owners of a park something they could improve on. Sooooo...... One comment on something that should get fixed (#1 issue at a lot of dog parks so this park is not alone): If you are going to allow pools for dogs (they are not always allowed due to disease, and people waste water) throw large, course rocks down in the pool drainage area. With grass nearby you might need to section it off. It's easy, it's cheap. Why do it? Stagnant water spreads disease, it's messy, someone could slip if it's not easily visible. Example. Right now the small dog section is very wet, but you can't see it. Slip hazard. Big section it is an all out pond. If it were my dog park, and if you insist on pools, I would only allow small pools that can only fill 1-2 inches. A 75 year old person should be able to dump the pool themselves to get clean water! If they can't it's too big. Break out the drill and make holes up higher so it can't fill much. The dogs just need their pads to wet to cool off, and they can still roll in it if you want that. Small dog section could get away with a hot water heater aluminum drainage pan!! That's my 2 cents.

A new 3 acre park for all sizes of mans best friend. It's divided into three areas of small dog,large dog and general area . Nice benches and picnic tables are placed about as well as modern,clean restrooms. All grass lawn areas with plenty of room to roam. There's even a convenient watering hole for hydration of humans and K9z. This place is pretty great and if you like dog parks,check this one out.

Anyway, the poop bags/bins are well-spaced and parking isn't an issue. The people who come here and whoever maintains this dog park truly care and do a good job at keeping it clean and pleasant for others to enjoy. This is a mulch park, so keep that in mind. I also recommend having some poop bags at the ready because it's nearly impossible to distinguish one "log" from another if you have to walk away to retrieve a bag.

So I just got lucky and found this dog park at Craig Ranch, after doing a Yelp search, of course. I like this park so much better because it has plenty of shade, there are so many trees, as well as tables, so I can have a seat if I want... Neither of which are available in Allen, well very extremely minimal...They also have two separate sections, one for small pups and one for large dogs. Our pup's in the middle weight class and always wants to go in with the littles, as all of his friends are tiny. Additionally, parents pick up after their pets, so the park is kept clean. Also, parents are really good about monitoring their kids to ensure they're playing nicely and jump in, when necessary. As a result of this accidental find I tend to drive a bit further, from Allen, to McKinney, just to take our pup to this park instead Check it out!
