Absolutely Fantastic Dr. Ripoll is one in a million. She's fantastic and goes beyond expectations in care of her patients. Ten years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After running the gamut of Boulder Urologist I came across Dr. Ripoll. Once we met my search for doctors ended. She was the first Doctor that gave me unbiased options backed up by statistics for solutions. We came to the conclusion External Beam Radiation would be a good solution. Although she was not the provider we discussed going to Loma Linda in California for proton radiation. She supported the solution and provided post treatment care. In January of 2017 my PSA started to rise indicating a possible return of prostate cancer. I again went to Dr. Ripoll. Confirming the reoccurrence of prostate cancer we discussed the options for Salvage treatment. Her recommendations were to provide two solutions and one standard solution I should avoid. Each of which would be provided by Doctors out of the area who had tremendous experience. I ended up choosing HiFu treatment with a doctor in Florida. Dr. Ripoll was willing to provide local support. In all cases of treatment I would be required to have a catheter installed. The treatment went well and the catheter was installed. What I hadn't realized is there could be complications with catheters. Managing those complications fell to Dr. Ripoll. Dr. Ripoll went beyond any expectations. A number of appointments had to be scheduled at inconvenient times for her just so I could come in. In one case she drove an hour to meet me at an unscheduled time to take care of one of my problems. In each case she solved my issues with sure solutions. I have the utmost respect for her and honestly wish I could find a family or internist doctor with her work and patient ethics. I called yesterday to make an appointment for treatment I've been receiving. I was quite surprised to get a recording stating that Dr. Ripol was closing her doors. They make reference to going to their website to get a list of doctors in which Dr. Ripol has worked with in the past. I went to the website, and it is no longer active. How does a professional doctor, who is treating cancer patients, IC patients and all others, just close her doors without any warning. I never received a letter in the mail stating what she was doing. This would have allowed me to get an appointment with another Urology practice, and get my prescriptions renewed before they closed the doors. read more

Originally I left a one-star review. The main reason for this was because I felt tricked into a few financial decisions by the front desk. However, after talking to the management they've assured me that the employee was let go for a series of difficulties. In addition, their team went above and beyond to help me with my situation and demonstrate their amazing customer service. It's a shame giving this place such a one star, because I do think Dr Ripoll is very nice. But unfortunately I am not exaggerating when I say this is literally the least functional medical office I have ever dealt with. Here is a list of just some of the things that they consistently failed to do: -Return calls -Give follow up results -Send test orders correctly -Keep track of what day your appointment is (I have shown up and they didn't have me scheduled, after just scheduling with them) -Keep track of what your appointment is for (I have also shown up, had the nurse walk in to tell me "hello we are doing __ today", only to have me correct her, and for her to realize I was correct after checking. Good thing it's not a surgeon's office!) And the list goes on and on. You might be wondering- why I would stay long enough to have all those things happen? Well, here is how the process went when I finally decided to leave the office: 1. Was waiting for return call regarding some imaging, never got the call. 2. Reached the office, asked them for the results, they said the Dr Ripoll would call back again. 3. Again, did not ever get a return call. 4. Decided it was time for a new office. Called them and asked to get all my records. Was told I would be signed up for a patient portal. 5. Never received patient portal email. 6. Called and left a message about not getting the email. 7. Message was never returned. 8. Called again a week later, reached someone. Found out I never received the email because they spelled "gmail" wrong. Was sent an invite for portal. Portal did not work. 9. Was told on phone patient portal isn't working, and they can't find my records. I asked if I could just come in sometime and pick up my records in person, and was told they were having problems where I couldn't even do that. Was also told they had no idea if/when they'd be able to let me get my records. I repeat, I was told they had no clue if and when I could EVER get my medical records. 10. I asked to leave a voicemail for the office manager. 11. Left a message for the office manager, basically demanding that they let me get my own medical records. Got a call later that day that suddenly I could pick them up. 12. Picked them up and they were incomplete (missing the last couple visits' notes). I decided that was as good as I was going to get with this place. That's just one incident, I could go on because there are plenty of others that would also warrant one star on their own. Again, it's too bad because everyone's pretty nice but could never in good conscience actually recommend someone go here. Look elsewhere. read more

5 star up until this year. Now 1 star, because: Where is Dr. Ripoll? What happened to the promised website? How to get medical records? How to get referrals? Because of her integrity and that of K. Bailey, this is totally inconsistent with what her patients have learned to expect. Note to those with BPH. You can avoid surgery as I have done at age 78 by having prostate artery embolization by Charles Nutting. It has been a while since I went to this office and I intentionally waited to leave this review. But there were several problems that I experienced and I promised my self that I'd let other people know they could make a more informed decision. The first was the front desk. These people were rude beyond belief. And they treated you like you were trying to get in to see the Pope. They expected you to have no other time commitments and work around THEIR schedule! Hey front desk, it's supposed to work the OTHER WAY! You are supposed to be grateful for your customers/clients! That they are choosing to see you rather than the dozens of other doctors nearby. And you are supposed to work with your customer's schedules to make the visit as convenient as possible. The second was the focus on money. It just infected everything they did and was the focus on money and not necessarily what was best for the patient. They will over bill you and misbill you and see if you figure it out. It's a lot of extra headache and heartache that you don't need especially when dealing with the medical issues they are supposed to be there to help you address. I received treatment (if you want to call it that) from Dr. Ripoll that I believe qualifies as malpractice. Over the course of 3 months, I had several "in person" appointments and at least 3 phone consultations with this doctor. In each case, I described my symtoms to her and was given a series of adjustments to the medications she prescribed for me. None of which worked. Dr. Ripoll did refer me to an associate to conduct a cystoscope procedure with a Dr. that I thought was part of her clinic. After having a tube shoved up my penis with a small cast of onlookers that I did not invite into the room, the good Dr. that performed the deed told me: 1). He was retired and did these procedures between golf games and that 2). if I needed help, I should visit with one of the docs that he practiced with before retiring. I did see one of these guys only to find out that the pain and humiliation of the cystoscope procedure done to me by the retired doc was of no use to him and that he'd have to do the deed all over again. This of course was most assuredly known to the retired guy when he shove the scope up my gazoo in the first place. It got worse, much worse as I found myself in the Boulder Hospital ER where I was immediately diagnosed with a raging prostate infection. Upon learning (from the ER Doc) that I had a case of prostatitis, I looked the disease up and found that it is extremely prevalent and rather easy to diagnos if a medical practitioner is awake. It turns out that the cystoscope procedure was the cause of exacerbating an infection that was already with and in me. I called my family Doc and described the exact same symtoms to him as I did to Dr. Ripoll and his immediate response was to tell me "it sounds like you have an infection" for which he prescribed a course of antibiotics which had an amazing positive effect on bringing my symptoms under control. I needlessly suffered pain and discomfort for more than three months due to Dr. Ripoll's ignorance and inability to spot and match my symptoms with what appears to be all of the classic signs of prostatitis. Oh, yes. The last time I heard from Dr. Ripoll was a voice message she left for me on my cell phone telling me she'd be in touch with me after the weekend...that was a month ago. If you are considering making a choice in who provides you with health care, I would seriously consider passing on CHOICES IN HEALTH...They suck so bad I am considering suing the clinic and Dr. Ripoll. What a horrible, horrible medical practice this is. Dr. Ripoll has the most unresponsive, uncaring staff I have ever encountered. I obviously made a poor choice six months ago when I began working with them, and I would like to warn off others. There seems to be very little professionalism in this office. Phone calls are rarely answered. Leaving messages often requires a half-dozen or more call backs and frequently those call backs are met again with "please leave a message" voice mails. Last Autumn, Dr. Ripoll was simultaneously treating me for a kidney stone and a cancer scare caused by an elevated PSA. On the kidney stone, she sent me to a butcher shop in Denver called "Kidney Stone Center of the Rockies." You can see my detailed review on their Yelp page. It has been more than four months since my kidney stone surgery and I continue to have lingering pain in the area from either the surgery or the stent. It has been impossible to get any assistance from the doctor who preformed the surgery and nothing but the most superficial concern from Dr. Ripoll. She might be a brilliant medical scholar, but she has left me hanging to deal with the ongoing pain and discomfort since my surgery. The Choices in Health office in general is extremely slow and/or forgetful. Throughout the stressful time of my kidney stone pain and ongoing exams to find the source of the elevated PSA, they consistently withheld or sat on test results. For example it was 17 days after they received my MDX results before Dr. Ripoll finally contacted me. After Dr. Ripoll promised me this would never happen again, they then sat on the results of my very next test (an MRI) for a full week after BCH sent them the results. Per Dr. Ripoll's suggestion, I did a follow-up PSA test last month. Given the frustrations of trying to call her office, I sent them a letter with the PSA results (still elevated) and also to describe the ongoing discomfort from last November's surgery. I also made request for a letter from Dr. Ripoll about the kidney stone surgery so I can apply for a ticket refund on a trip I was supposed to do a few days after surgery. A week after my letter, I received one phone call which I unfortunately missed. After three attempts to call back Choices in Health and getting nothing but voice mail, I gave up and asked them to respond in writing. As usual, no reply, no response, no assistance. There are dozens of urologists in the Denver area. I would strongly recommend to anybody else to try any place but Choices in Health. And definitely stay away from that Kidney Stone Center in Denver. read more

I saw urologists for months that were unable to help with my symptoms. In a matter of minutes Dr. Ripoll was able to determine my affliction and provide almost immediate relief. I would recommend this practice to anyone as I have received the best care yet for my condition. To top it off, the energy in her office is extremely positive and all staff I have interacted with has been both extremely informative and professional. Dr. Ripoll has improved my quality of life in ways that can not be measured, and I could not be more thankful or grateful. read more

Dr. Ripoll is a wonderful health care provider. She treats her patients as people, not as cases, and works hard to find the best possible solution for each individual. She keeps up to date with the latest treatment options, and keeps an open mind about different approaches to health care. The name "Choices in Health" is very appropriate, because she helps the patient make an intelligent, informed choice about their treatment. Dr. Ripoll helped me through prostate cancer. I had a PSA reading of over 30 before the treatment she recommended. My PSA level is now 1.4 and still going down. read more

Everyone in this office has always been helpful. When you have IC you are used to people treating you like you have 3 heads in the urologist's office because its so badly understood. Not here. They will try anything to help you and they are not afraid to try alternative treatments. What helped me the most was the ozone instills with a cocktail of meds in it. I am 90% better now and forever grateful to Katrina, the assistant I saw there. Whats cool is they took my medicare insurance I needed when I was on disability for this nasty disease. So it did not cost me an arm and a leg to get better. I am forever grateful to this office, you truly saved my life after years of chronic pain and spending TONS of money on so many different treatments. I saw Dr. Ripoll back in November and I received good care from her. When I received a bill from them I had some questions about the bill and called to speak to someone, leaving a request for a return call. I never got a call back until today when the billing office called to give me the office's response as well as being notified the account was being sent to collections. Not very happy about the way this whole situation was handled by the doctor's office. read more
