I have always had a nice, relaxing time here. Choi's is a cozy, men's only Korean-style spa. Upon check in, you leave your shoes at the entrance. You are given two towels and keys to a locker. The facility is on the smaller side -- there are about 30 lockers, two jacuzzi tubs, a steam room, a sauna, and a shower area. There is also a lounge area with a vending machine, some leather couches, and a large screen television. While the space isn't fancy, I found it to be clean and well maintained. There are other rooms in the facility where you can get a massage and/or reflexology treatments, etc. The friendly staff appears to be all Korean women -- I've received massages from a few of them -- fantastic each time. The massages were strong and thorough. Like most Korean-style spas, everyone is nude in the wet areas -- although if one were shy, nobody would stop you from wearing a bathing suit. This is a gay-friendly establishment (with a sign at the front desk indicating as such), and I would bet a large percentage of the patrons are bi/gay men. If that is an issue for you, then this is probably not the place for you. Speaking of the patrons, on all my visits, I found everyone to be respectful and civil. People are here primarily to relax, and maybe, perhaps meet a new friend. Larger cities tend to have a few of these kinds of spas, but this appears to be the only one in Boston. I'm glad it's here. I love it here, definitely LGBTQ-Friendly! Entrance fee is $40 and they give you 2 towels and a locker. Everyone is respectful of boundaries, but come open-minded to the LGBTQ community! Staff are sweet and welcoming, you take your shoes off before entering so that the Sanctuary remains clean. There is one Cold pool, one Hot pool, a Steam room, a Dry sauna, and a TV room. This is an interesting place. Leave your modesty behind because this is not your typical massage place. I've been going here regularly for 5 years now. I go purely for the massage. The spa is not your classic spa-type place. It's pricey but if you like a deep tissue massage, there is no other place that can come close. The style they use is Thai massage where they do part of the massage by walking on you (by request). They also have swedish massage. The way they operate is you pay $100 and it includes a body scrub, use of the "spa" and a 50 minute massage. Having tried the body scrub (you are in a wet room, lying on a table butt naked (I guess you could wear a bathing suit) and scrubbed down and then literally hosed down on the wet table, then hand dried :| by your masseuse (who btw is wearing big rubber fishing boots). The spa area (hot tub, cold tub, steam room) is dated looking. There are also shower heads on one wall. My first visit there was a naked man standing there showering (OMG!) There is a separate area to relax in that has big leather massage chairs and a TV. I remember thinking I will NEVER EVER come back here again but.........ohhhhhhhhh the massage is just absolutely incredible. So what I do now is pay $100 and skip the body scrub which gives you a 60 min massage instead of 50. Having been to many, many spas and massage places, I find nothing compares to this place. I would give it 5 stars for the massage but I only gave 4 stars due to the other conditions. Also, the best part is I never make appointments in advance, I just call when I'm enroute and there is always someone available. They also have a room for "couples massage" if you and your honey want to indulge together. Update 12/3/11 Here are my guidelines for top 3 massage therapists in no particular order. I select the person based on my mood. Janie: Very professional and nice, her speciality is the back area. In general, medium pressure, not as graceful as some of the others when walking on you but still fantastic Sophie: Always seems angry; literally kicks the living crap out of you during the massage. Beware your traps, her heel will be permanently lodged in your trap or so you will think so. Great massage overall but her speciality in my eyes is walking on your back, she has it to a science and is very fluid and smooth.. Rose: Sweet loving Rose is very tiny but like a gymnist will contort into a million positions to get at every square inch of you and then bend you into the pretzel you never knew you could be. Be wary your feet for she will get into the souls of your feet so deeply a jolt will go straight up your spine to your scalp. (Rose is my favorite but she is INTENSE in a loving way). When she walks on your hamstrings you will see bright specks of light bursting in your brain (well something like that) but it's all good! read more

I've been going to Choi's for a couple of years now, mostly in the colder months because I like the warmth of the steam and sauna. The staff is very friendly and it's priced right. It's nothing fancy but it's kept clean and that's important. You'll get a locker, a pair of shorts and a couple of towels. It's pretty typical of most spas with an open shower area, hot and cold Jacuzzis, steam and sauna. There's also a lounge area with a TV to relax and rehydrate. In addition to the spa they also offer massage services. I haven't had a massage yet but I hear they are fantastic. The patrons seem pretty nice and are friendly. As with all day spas there are people of all shapes and sizes spanning across multiple age groups. If you don't belong to a gym or haven't visited a spa you will not be surprised see naked people, it comes with the territory. I really like the peace and quiet of the place and it's a great escape any time of day. After a few hours at Choi's I get a great night's sleep. read more

The place is great but I don't think the coed stuff works. The women I have seen there are creepy broads. The guys come from all walks of life... married, single, young, old, gay, bi, black, white, professional, unemployed.... just regular guys hanging out naked watching a game on tv...soaking up some heat in the sauna or steam. I had read about other yelp reviews and visited twice within the last month, one time at lunch and the other after work. In short, my opinion is that many of the reviews are just an employee or owner shilling for this place. I wish there were naked woman or men frolicking around but not a one to be seen during both visits. My visit: Walked in the small lobby, waited at the desk, Stated I wanted to visit the spa,pay $30, handed key, shorts and towel and pointed to the "spa:" The Spa: a small changing room with lockers to put the shorts on. Next to this is a small workout room totally dark with a asian man sleeping there. Walk into the spa area and its a small narrow room. In this room is a hot jacuzzi and cold jacuzzi , At the end of this room are two doors, one to a real small sauna and small steam room each about the size of large closets that would fit two people. There are four shower heads on one wall as well. I showered and then sat in the jacuzzi amid all the foam and I was getting grossed out the more I sat there. Other Guests: Yes, others came and went, but all were asian older (60+) men.That's it. I actually handled a conference call while in the parking lot and the place is deserted. My Advice: I had high hopes for this place as I'd like nothing better than to hang out naked with other like minded people. If you like being nude, I'm afraid the only place that is as advertised is a place in Richmond Maine (distance 95 miles from Saugus) called the Richmond Sauna. Plenty of naked men and woman, pool, large hot tub and about a half dozen sauna rooms along with a large lawn to tan naked as well. If you know of another place closer I'd love to visit. read more

This update comes after new ownership took over. The massage chairs used to be super. Now they hurt like hell because they are just worn out and broken. The large TV died and a smaller one took its place. The price increased from $30 to $35 which would be ok IF the place were kept up. It isn't. The shampoo dispensers are always empty and one needs to pump shampoo from a single gallon jug sitting on the floor. I cannot imagine why it is so difficult to fill the dispensers on the wall. Bareback sex abounds...that is either a good thing (if ya don't want to drive to a gay bath house in Providence), or a bad thing (if you are not certain that the guys there are all tested and clean)... and male/female couples are allowed to use private rooms for semi private gangbangs. Last, many desperate 'trolls' cannot take no for an answer...I actually kicked one guy in the chest for trying to grope me, while I was lying down, AFTER I said 'no thank you' politely in response to his incessant advances. Plenty of cool guys WERE there the last time I went...so the place IS worth visiting once in a while, even though both tubs are now lukewarm, rather than HOT and cool, as before. read more

My review of Choi's rates a negative 5. I recently went there after reading a review posted on this site, bare in mind that Choi's is an asian spa and I have been to many massage spa's for back pains and sports relief. Locating the spa by accident (it is located out of sight from route 1, I had to enter the spa several times to get a receptionist. I was asked for my $100 and then asked if I wanted to skip the sanctuary where the hot tub and table show is located and just move onto the massage. I requested he sanctuary to which I was pointed to a door and told that leads to it. After changing into a light set of trunks I made my way to the hot tub that I found to be just above luke warm. After I had spent no more that several minutes there I moved onto a shower to take the chill out of me, it took several minutes for warm water to reach the shower head. The table shower somehow had warmer water than the hottest setting at the shower head Huh!. I then moved onto the massage the review on this site stated was next to heaven. Lady I don't think you've ever had a massage at any other place otherwise your a promo for that spa. I was wrapped in sheet and felt like the filling in a sandwich wrap. When I asked to have the sheet lowered or removed as I was over heating I was told "NO". When I arrived I didn't have a stiff neck or headache but I sure got my $100 head ache before I left. By the way, when the timer goes ding so do the services. my suggestion "GO SOMEWHERE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY"RE DOING" I found Choi's spa in Saugus to be a rip of and when I say I have been to alot of asian spa's that's no B.S., I have found some very good spas where the masseuse is not licensed and does a far better job relaxing sore and stiff muscles than the one that shows all kinds f licenses and certificates. This is the worst place to go!...I was pregnant at the time I went and this was the first time I have ever had a massage. I was completely violated! My body was completely exposed as they had no respect for me and this is so unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable! Not only that but they did not provide a specific type of chair to lay on when pregnant which I was told over the phone they would accomadate me with!...I am apolled by how bad they treated me. Even while undressing they were in the room waiting for me to be done and get on the table/chair to start massaging me. While massaging me they removed my sheet to put a new sheet on me, exposing my body! Then they sat me up and while the women was behind me she grabbed my arms to stretch out pulling them backwards and the sheet fell off me exposing me again..remember I'm pregnant!...I never had a massage before but from this experience and from what ive been told this is not a normal massage!...I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!...VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! read more

Having been away for a few months we recently returned to Choi's for our regular Tuesday visits to Choi's. You cannot get a better massage anywhere in the Boston Area. The facility is well kept and we enjoy spending Tuesday's our day off at this Health Spa. The staff here is very helpful and will show you the facility before you decide on entering Choi's. You will be pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, the perfect water temperature in both the hot & cold whirlpools. You can adjust the temperatures in both the Steam room and the Sauna to your liking. This is an Asian Spa, co-ed and also has a relaxation room with a great TV. One complaint we have is the (2) Recliners in the room are beyond repair and need to be replaced. The present condition of the massage recliners is as bad as it gets. Understandably the chairs are expensive but they are dangerous to use in the condition they are in. Since our day off is Tuesday we hope to see the girls that have come to Choi's. A great place to relax for the day. You can stay as long as you want and can also pay $30. to use the facility without getting a massage or $110. for a massage and the use of the facility. read more
