The ambience is amazing--warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully set up so the whole space feels inviting without trying too hard. It's also super clean, which instantly makes you feel comfortable and cared for. What really stood out, though, was the service. The gentleman running the restaurant is absolutely charming--adorably polite and genuinely kind. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel truly welcome and helped make the whole experience feel effortless and special. And then there's the food. The dishes were out of this world. As someone who genuinely loves Greek food, I was blown away by how fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared everything was. It wasn't just good--it was memorable. Every bite was absolutely delish, and you can tell the kitchen puts care into the details. The flavors tasted authentic and satisfying in that classic Greek way--comforting, bright, and delicious from start to finish. I also had such a lovely time there because I met one of my best friends at Myrtos, and we ended up having the nicest, most relaxed lunch together. It was one of those meals that makes you slow down, enjoy the moment, and feel grateful you found a spot like this. Overall, this is a 10 out of 10 for me, and I'll definitely be going back for sure.

We both had the Mediterranean Seafood Kabob -- OUTSTANDING! Seafood and assortment of grilled vegetables. Our waiter was the owner. Fantastic description of the menu items. Service was fine. The service is poor with the greeter apparently thinking that he can get by without saying good afternoon or good evening when a customer greets him... and BTW he does speak English. A very arrogant little SOB who has not changed over the year. He does not understand the words "thank you" either and I noticed this with several customers and how they're greeted and those who have left this establishment without even being acknowledged after paying leaving a tip and walking past this person. The food is average at best and they serve inconsistent portions. The "greeter" blames it on the food that he gets from his supplier but when you have two meats in a dish and one is a third of the size of the other my question whether they have inventory control or just trying to rip their customers off. They never fill the quart container but always leave at least a 2 inch gap between the liquid and the top of the quart container. When I asked him to fill it, the price was almost the amount of the soup, which was $8.. needless to say that was my last straw and I won't be going back. Maybe this is how they do business in other countries but here in the United States we want what we pay for.. we work hard enough for it!

Unfortunately that's where it ends. Service is a 1-star. There seemed to be a language disconnect with the server. An overall near-zero experience. Our server was attentive to other tables seated after us who received their desserts before our entrees. Not one table check-in before, during or after the meal. Had to actually get up out of the seat to make sure the drink order was understood and it was right because the server did not seem to understand. Maybe that put the server off. We also flagged down other servers for assistance during the meal and even for ordering dessert. It took a long time to take payment for our bill. We almost got up to pay at the bar. Thus the crap shoot gamble at La Sponda. Atmosphere a 2.5 star. Loud atmosphere with a heavy metal music rotation. Good music, just not for this dinner atmosphere. Overall a 2.5-star on the strength of the food. We will not be back. Spending the money I did, even though the food is good at La Sponda, I don't want to risk a bad service experience again there. Not worth it for us but might not matter for others. Nevertheless - Caveat Emptor.

Service: Friendly, good service. Crowd: Older. Drinks: Good cocktails, wine, limited beer selection. Food: Good, perfect calamari, my go-to here (most places overcook it). Restrooms: Clean. Parking: Plenty of parking. Value: OK ("Things are tough all over." - C&C) This is my favorite place in Downingtown to meet friends at the bar for a drink and apps. I have to give a shout-out to the wait staff. Maria was amazing! She made recommendations and was always coming back to check on us...and always with a smile. She made the experience and is one of the reasons I would recommend the restaurant. She wasn't walking through the motions - a value-add for sure. Now to the food. We just had water with our meals, but they have a full bar and what looks like a fun cocktail list. We started with the mother.Guacamole. It was FANTASTIC! It's a must have. Then I had the Braised Beef Tacos - which is 3 tacos with a side of salsa verde. You can ask for other sauces, depending on how hot you like it. My friend had the Cured Pork Belly Tacos, which she loved. Since it was my friend's birthday, we shared the Apple Pie a la mode Empanadas - which were delicious. The prices were great too! For all of that, our bill, with a 20% tip was $63.00. (I've had lunches for 2 that end up being about $50 and the food wasn't as good and we didn't have the dessert.) Highly Recommend.....I will definitely be back!

Drinks 5/5: The craft cocktails were delicious; I had two Pineapple French 75s and would absolutely come back for another! Service 3/5: server was not very attentive and despite the fact that the establishment does not take reservations, there is nowhere to sit/stand while waiting to be seated. There was a 30 minute wait for us (party of 4) so we waited in the vestibule, which was awkward. Server forgot some of our items and overall seemed a bit disoriented. Chips and salsa 2/5: probably the weirdest salsa I've ever had. It somehow tasted like... nothing? Granted, tomatoes are going out of season, but honestly this salsa was super odd and lacked flavor and texture. Chips are chips. Were complimentary. Chips and guac 3/5: Guac itself was bland and not very flavorful; personally I am a fan of a nice onion- and lime-forward guac but this was very bland; however the red chili on top of the guac was really yummy Pineapple jerk chicken tacos 3/5: ratio of slaw to chicken wasn't great and chicken was a little dry. Wish there was more than one lime for the plate and in my opinion not worth the price. I also ordered "rice for the table" but it was very bland and cilantro heavy. Really disappointing because I love rice but it was just not good. I've never had to leave a category review like this, but the benches themselves were very uncomfortable. We were at a booth across from the bar, and the seat was very high up (none of our feet touched the ground) and it was very stiff. We had to stand up multiple times just to get a bit more comfortable. Would not recommend this type of seating. Note: mother does not take reservations
