I went to Custom Creations before Christmas (aka at a crazy time), because I wanted to print some…read morecustom T-shirts for gifting. I needed them in 2-3 days. TL;DR I had a very tight timeline, and they delivered. They printed the T-shirts by the next day. I had 2 PDFs of the T-shirt graphics that I made in Canva. I emailed the files that morning, but being a busy holiday time, they hadn't seen my email. Luckily I was able to re-send them the files from my phone (I recommend that you just bring the file to the store or tell them in person you're sending it). The graphic files needed to be tweaked for print, but Abe is very fast. He worked on the file right then and there at the store counter. (If you're particular about fonts etc like me, you may want to work with them while they do that to make sure you're getting what you want.) They actually tried to print them the same day, so I came back a couple of hours later. (I think if it's a design they already have/simple design, they can print it within 1 hour, given they don't have other jobs lined up.) A font color on one of the T-shirts was a wrong color, and the other design had a spot where the line was disconnected, so they had to be reprinted. So I pickled them up the next day, but even then, that was a fast turnaround. The only caveat is that the base T-shirt colors/types may be limited. When I went, the only choices were white, black, gray or red in 100% cotton. (I'm not sure if they have more choices if I hadn't gone at such a busy time.) Also, unless you specify the size of the design, they may print the design really big to take up the front of the shirt. I had a more understated design in mind, but when I came to pick up my order the rectangular graphic took up the maximum space on the front. So if you have a vision about where you want the design to go, you might want to communicate that. I didn't know what I was doing, so I didn't press what I wanted--that's on me. All in all, I was impressed they could deliver in such a short amount of time. If I were to do it again, I'd try to go there at a less crowded time.

There's no visible business sign from the street, other than a residential home for the address publicly provided. Eric called me again about a week after to see if I was ready and told him I'd get back to him once the design is complete. In the meantime, I gave him an idea of the design and the number of shirts I'm looking to order. I got no response, via text, in the two texts sent. I called many times, leaving v-msgs and no call back. I called around June 19th, alerting him I'm ready and still didn't get a call back. I just placed an order with another company for about $2K worth of merchandise. They might be good once they "accept" you but trying to get a hold of them has been difficult beyond reason. I really wanted to give a local business a chance but clearly they didn't want my business. I'm hoping there was more going on than the silent treatment I got.

Long story short: My boyfriend went through the trouble of designing a couple T-shirts on Photoshop. 300 DPI, etc. (We're both graphic designers, we know how printing works.) Shirt 1 was a vector penguin face... simple enough. it was pretty obvious that they cut out the shapes and ironed them. However, the mouth was flipped upside down and there was a visibly difference in the "sheen" of the black parts of the face which created a line. Think of a puzzle piece. Now perhaps they printed the black on 3 separate sheets, but that doesn't mean it's OK for quality. Shirt 2 was a turtle face. For a custom print shirt where the design was originally brightly colored... the shirt print turned out super faded. Also the lettering was abnormally pixelized. Printing normally does that, but this was very obvious and that was not the original intent of the design. Mind you, he paid $60 for 2 shirts, neither which are good quality. Maybe it was his fault for falling for planted reviews on Google... but please take your business elsewhere, like My Favorite T-Shirts, which is also in the mall. Or the internet. When my boyfriend went back to complain (which he hardly ever does)... all they offered was a free T-shirt. No partial refund for a crap job? Seriously guys, you're suppose to specialize in custom clothing.

I did a search for printing shops in the Seattle area that do DTG printing and don't have a minimum order quantity (I only wanted one sweatshirt printed), and then contacted the few that I found. A couple of them didn't even bother replying, and the ones that did said they were unable to do it in such a short time. Except for one: Pork Chop. They replied to my email within a couple hours and said they could squeeze me in and have it ready the next day! Not only that, but they also didn't even charge me extra for the rush turn-around time! In short, Pork Chop* is THE go-to place in the Seattle area if you have a small DTG order and need it done ASAP (they do large orders also, so definitely check them out regardless of how big your order is). * Their full name is Pork Chop Screen Printing, but I think they should change it to Pork Chop Screen & DTG Printing.

A little over a week ago, my cat decided to water test my laptop. Long story short, a glass of water spilled into (!) my laptop. The laptop sat immersed in this pool of water for nearly 20 hours. Everything was complete toast. Although most of my files are in the cloud, especially the most important ones, I decided there might be the occasional file or folder that I might not notice tomorrow or even a year from now. I decided it would be best to retrieve the contents of the drive on the laptop for peace of mind. I left the laptop with them to do an assessment first. That assessment was ~$80. After their assessment, they indicated that the contents of the drive were retrievable and gave me an estimate of $400 to retrieve the contents of the drive (the $80 would apply to that figure). I decided it was worth the cost, if for nothing more than that elusive peace of mind. I also needed a drive to put the contents on (or provide my own). Since I didn't have one, and didn't want to bother with purchasing a 3rd party drive, they charged me $140 for a Toshiba Portable Storage device. So, for about $600 (w/ tax) I got everything off the lost drive. Was it worth it? Without a doubt. Would I go back? Hell yeah.

Not only that, when I dropped off my film, the cashier confirmed with me, not once, but twice, that I was getting scans, and prints, and that was over $117. Then to my shock when I was told my order was ready, I didn't see any scans, and upon asking I was told I still needed to purchase scans. This is even after explaining that I was told I was getting scans. That was an additional $80+, so I ended up paying $200 for 4 rolls. I won't be returning. Not even close to worth the cost, for how long it takes and how expensive it is.

It was hard to discern what my final cost would be, and I tried asking but he didn't really try to make it easy for me to understand. I was hoping he would be able to give me an exact quote for what I was looking for, but he didn't seem like he really cared to do that. My whole experience felt rushed like he didn't want to take the time to get my business. Regardless, from what it sounded like it would be been more than $1/card with no room for savings no matter how many more I got printed.

From a Retailer and Designer: It's rare these days when a company goes out of it's way to do the right thing for the customer/merchant. I've tested their operational schedule (on more than one occasion) and their team routinely beats expectation. Whether it's personally delivering shirts on a Sunday, working late to get them printed by Friday, or reprinting a blemished run without question, Choke makes a point to show where it's value really is, and it shouldn't go unnoticed. When we had a blemish revealed in one of our prints, I mentioned to the Jeff (one of the owners) that I could possibly use the shirts and mark them down for a flash sale . . .he scoffed at the notion, stating very clearly that Choke wouldn't want me to put a blemished product out for the customer, stating " we don't want you to send a conflicting message to the customer by competing with good product." Without hesitation, my product was reprinted, and still meeting deadline and at no additional cost to me, the retailer! I was really impressed by this stand to do the right thing and it's great to work with a team that truly understands what it means to simply "do good business." I work for a construction company in Kent and we needed a promotional item fast and with quality. They delivered were amazing on both and had outstanding customer service. Their pricing was almost $200 less than any company I had looked at and the highest was a $400 difference. We ordered golf towels and they looked very professional and clean. He was very quick to respond to email and was very interested in having me approve the proof before moving forward with the printing. For my second printing job, I was most impressed on how he was able to change the color very last minute and gave me no grief about it. He is reasonably priced! He runs his business out of his garage, which can be hard to find but I am really happy I found him. Not only was I able to the things I needed printed but I also contributed to the local economy.

I was promised better pricing than another local company and that didn't happen. I was promised he was going to source locally and that didn't happen. My stickers were delayed by three weeks. Passed my grand opening. Tyler wouldn't respond with any questions I had or why there was a delay in the first place. He didn't even remember what type of company I had or what I even did. I do like the shirts that were made, but that was because of PB and J textiles. I've worked with them before and they're great. Just go straight to the source. This is a broker company they don't do the work themselves.
