Luckily, I got her medical records and I'm following her physician ( Sue Maynard) to Mt. Airy Family Practice. Mt. Airy Family Practice is located in beautiful West Mt. Airy. Not hard to find with its red awning stating the name. They're still using the safety precautions for covid. You have to ring the bell to enter. A staff member greets you at the door with a series of questions. Have had your covid shot? Exposed to covid? Out of the country? Waiting for covid results? That sort of questioning! And you must wear a mask! Once you get past this, you can enter. They were pretty efficient with the registration process, and taken in to be seen pretty quickly. My daughter has special needs and they were great and patient with her. Special thanks to the young lady that took her blood and gave her a flu shot. So sorry I didn't get her name. Sue Maynard (nurse practitioners) was great as well. Filled out the necessary paperwork that I need with no problem. The only issue is they never mentioned the $15 fee for the paperwork until I was about to leave. I do understand these fees, but please be upfront about them. So glad to be following this practice.

They also have an online portal where you can see lab results and message the provider about questions or request an upcoming appointment. What makes CHOP Kids First stand apart is that when any issues that arise Dr Ingersoll is on the phone talking to me , explaining everything. She gives you thorough information so that you can make an informed decision. When my youngest child was born Dr Ingersoll visited my baby in the hospital. There is just not enough I could say about them! I've tried others (because I moved into Montgomery county and wanted to try something closer to home), but I ended up right back. I have since relocated to Arizona and my girls fly home to visit for their primary care physician, Dr Ingersoll that's how much I believe in them!

I chose Dr. Kristie Nichols bc she was young and a female and I hoped I would be able to connect with her, which is very important to me. The first time I saw her for a really nasty broken finger, I was in extreme pain and really scared as I'd never broken anything in my life. She seemed extremely clueless and bothered by my visit. She threw a bandaid on me and dismissed me pretty quickly. (She referred me to Rothman where I found out I had severely smashed my finger, it was shattered and broken in 3 places). I left her office feeling very defeated. I thought I had made such a good decision by choosing her and was so excited to meet her, but left with such a bad impression. She couldn't have been less interested in meeting me as a new patient and certainly did not have time for me at all. I figured she was just having a bad day. Today I had an appointment for a "well visit" bc a nutritionist friend told me to get a full blood work up. I was excited to hopefully meet with Dr. Nichols again so she could change my impression of her. My appointment was at 8:50am. I underestimated rush hour traffic and was running 5 minutes late. I called the office as I was pulling into the parking to let them know I was there and they told me to hold on. The girl came back and said you are 8 minutes late for your appointment so you have to reschedule! I said I had taken a day off from work and was pulling in the parking lot! She put me on hold again and said let me ask again. She came back saying she asked Dr. Nichols again and she leaves at 12 on Fridays so she couldn't see me. (I work at an outpatient medical office so I understand when patients are late, we always will see the patient and always do our best to fit them in. It is good practice) This was strike 2 in my book, since I would probably be waiting in the waiting room for half an hour regardless of what time my appointment was anyway!! I feel this Dr. just doesn't have her patients' best interest at heart. Besides being clueless and dismissive the first time, I feel she doesn't care about her patients. This is obviously not a characteristic I want in my Doctor. I ended up changing my primary care physician today to an office that happily fit me in and saw me with no waiting!! It was nice to find an office that put me first and was happy to have me as their patient. Dr. Nichols lost a patient today, not that she cares.

On top of that, they have a revolving door for sales reps from pharma and others. It just angered me that sick people are waiting while some rep comes in, says a few jokes, and one time I saw presents being given to the staff.

She's very thorough asking about every aspect of my life and family history. She great at educating and advising so I always feel I know what's going on. After having no other option than to take our daughter to CHOP urgent care in KOP when her fever reached over 102F during after hours last night and the poor care and exceedingly long wait times we experienced has confirmed this even more.
