Many of the "regulars" that I have seen before popped up in my feed including a few that I had called before, but they had failed to show for appointment or simply never bothered to return my original phone inquiries in the past. Then I came across a name that I didn't recognize through only ONE recommendation. I didn't trust the Good Ole Boys club (through recommendations) that I had previously tried to work with, unsuccessfully, in the past, so someone "new" was exactly who I was interested in. I called Zach Ernst, of ERNST MECHANICAL SERVICES, LLC (licensed in MD & DE) immediately...AND I reached him! Our communication was thorough and quick! I explained my concerns, budget and availability. Zach came out the NEXT day (Tuesday 05/02) and identified the burned up wires within my unit and another switch (Relay?) that needed replacement. He presented his suggested proposal of repairs along with a reasonable cost for the work and we agreed to proceed. The very next day (Wednesday 05/03) Zach texted me that the parts had arrived and he could install them on...wait for it...Thursday 05/04! BOOM ! So, moral of the story is: I reached out on a MONDAY...Zach arrived on TUESDAY...Parts were ordered that night and arrived on WEDNESDAY...Repairs were done on THURSDAY. Badda-Boom-Badda-Bing! No reason to NOT call this wonderful professional.

He installed a new HVAC compressor and air handler about 4 years ago. I had a problem with it not cooling when I first arrived here. Adam responded and came out to fix the problem. Because it was under warranty, and it was a simple fix, he didn't even charge me. It was working, but still wasn't cooling. He came out again and found a faulty piece in the compressor and didn't even charge me to top off the freon! I tried to pay him something for the freon, but he said that would defeat the purpose of under warranty, even though he had to pay for the freon out of pocket since the HVAC product only covers this problem within a year of purchase for some reason. I recommend Cape Climate and Adam the owner! What a great company!

The company said "are you still without service for the last 6 days" -- I will be right over (it was 6:30 PM)----they looked at unit, and followed up the next morning determining minor issue---overcharge of refrigerant. Do not recommend unless you want to pay top dollar for bottom barrel install. We moved into a home…read morewith a Shaw's 2016 heat pump install and will be spending ~5k to address the poor quality of the air handler install. The previous owners of my home were quoted 13k for this install. Code violations, did not follow manufacturer's instructions and no permits pulled. Permits have been required for changeouts in Talbot County since 2012. Shaws declined to view the install and consider making things right. Another local HVAC company saw this install and said "holy shit I wouldn't have put a sticker on this." - Our unit is only ~ 1 inch above grade and is supported by patio pavers. Both unit, ductwork and condensate pump are sinking into mud causing moisture and mildew problems. - Manager said he has never heard of codes requiring mechanical equipment to be at least 3 inches above grade. Attached is a screenshot of the 2018 international mechanical code (current building code for town of Easton, MD) regulation for clearances above grade. - Manufacturer's instructions included 4 inch condensate p trap, due to unit being installed only 1 inch above grade they installed a shallow trap (~ 1 inch) which manual says explicitly not to do. Picture attached. - No permits pulled. I believe that the unit would not have passed an inspection. - Duct work is touching dirt. - A crawlspace company that had no skin in this game noted our install is "in the bottom 10% of installs they've EVER seen in this area." - Our condensate pump was buried in mud despite unit saying "Indoor Only". Shaw's manager said that our crawlspace should be considered indoor, but at the same time also said that there was no secondary condensate system because it was not considered an indoor environment. Be prepared to get the angle that least benefits you if you use this company. - No secondary condensate drainage, secondary pan or no overflow detector which goes against manufacturers recommendations. The real kicker in this situation is that Shaw's refused to come out and view this install and to consider making the situation right. There was one other company that we had questions for after we moved in and they came out, assessed the situation and made it right. I would not recommend an expensive install with this company.
