Just going through the racks (which I normally hate to do) is a real pleasure! From the 40s dresses to the 80s Hawaiian shirts to the 70s jumpsuit, whatever decade you are looking for is here! The clientele is middle aged women mostly and the clothes reflect that. You'll find J.Crew, Aritzia, Club Monaco, a lot of activewear brands, and for designer some Michael Kors or Tory Burch but nothing overly expensive. They only sell brand name clothes less than two years old, so while there's no vintage, it's like having a personal shopper who plumbs the mall for the best items. It is a Winners-killer. Perfect for a frugal soMEone who's not into shopping but likes having quality stuff. My finds over the years are too many to list, but some of my favourites include a $13 Harvey's seatbelt bag, killer Diesel jeans for $11, a stylin' $45 Mexx interview-type suit that evidently did the trick. Everything here is sorted by size instead of colour, which is precisely how all second-hand stores ought to be. The stellar organization makes it way faster to find things, and the finds are so abundant here that I always creatively interpret the six-item limit at the change rooms. Older stock will get discounted up to 70% (I think), but tags are sometimes not marked down yet, so ask and check the date on the tag to see if it might get further reduced. It's exclusively women's wear and accessories, but no shoes. While clean and orderly, the store probably hasn't seen a reno since Michael Jackson was black, but who cares? Not I. This place deserves a bajillion stars and is absolutely worth the trip out to Etobicoke.

Most recently, they have a couple shelves of vintage Coach leather bags for $90-120 range. Coach has just release their new 'heritage' line for fall, which is basically a bunch of their original designs. But why buy them at the store when you can get actual vintage ones? They also carry an impressive selection of cashmere sweaters for fall, all for $40. Although there were some great quality sweaters, there were also some that were pilling, so examine each garment carefully. As with any second hand store, it's a bit hit or miss here, but it's fun to browse and you never know what you'll find!

Check out the local handmade masks for $15. In Toronto you have to wear a mask in indoor spaces now so if you need one for when you go to buy food these ones are cotton, machine washable and made by Raygun Designs. Super nice staff and I am so glad they have reopened. You know I love all things retro and this store has fantastic items for sale. Tons of character!

This store sits on Queen St and just near the hip area of Ossington. Unlike the Ossington spots, Garb's store has the large windows that lets in a lot of natural light. When you first walk into the store, you don't think stereotypical 'consignment'. For starters, lots of items are in well thought out displays, everything is clean and pristine (more on this later), and Dan (the owner) is careful to choose which items he'd feel be sold and not sit on the shelves. Another thing about the store... it's well organized. So you don't feel like you're in a musty and cluttered place... instead everything is organized just to size and by type. Nice and easy to find that special or interesting piece. Working and talking to him was easy... he's very genuine and not once did he give me the look of "why did you buy this" haha... though to be fair, I had tags still on a lot of the items I brought in. I just hang on to things I should let go! He was very fair to price the items and made the whole service a breeze to go through. I do like how he has everything online so if you ever want to check if your item sold... all it takes is to log into your online account and voila! Easy to find. Other places require days for them to catalog and then you have to call in every time you're curious. Nahhhh not here. About the brands they carry... it's definitely premium and often you will find items with a tag on it. Nothing sits for more than 90 days here... for a buyer, it's great as you can items become discounted and find those amazing deals. With consignment, if you want tooo long, someone else can snatch it. Another great thing about Garb is the quality of the items... its all in good shape and if it's a bit dirty, he does ask the consignee to wash or dry clean before bringing it back! As a person who may buy from here, I really appreciate that. Overall, it's one of the better managed and better services I've been given from a consignment store. Here's hoping my items sell!

I am always surprised how inexpensive it is to get vintage clothing in such great condition. I have never taken something home from Stella Luna to discover a surprise stain or loose button. What I like most about Stella Luna is the owner. She is absolutely fabulous. Very honest with your selections. If you notice something isn't fitting properly or is not the perfect choice for your skin tone, she can usually offer something that will suit you a little more. This style of shopping may not be every one's cup of tea, but I find it immensely helpful as I am often shopping alone. I definitely appreciate the feedback and the no pressure attitude to buy. If you're patient and persistent, you can even find new items with tags on them. This is one of the larger VVs around which means larger selection of items as well (they have a large curtain section). At least once a month they have a big 50% off sale. If you are a Super Savers Club member, you can go the day before a sale and get the discount (go early because it gets pretty crowded later on in the day) Haven't run into any problems with the staff but I haven't needed to bother them for anything either.
