The sign says "hand-picked vintage" and it's a good description. The space is quite small (looks like a converted apartment, with 2 small rooms and a hallway) and the selection is not as vast as some of the bigger vintage shops. However, each piece is carefully chosen (hence the name). The owner is really friendly and as my shopping partner and I perused the racks, she gave us back-stories for many of the pieces that caught our eyes. She also has altered some of the items to make them more wearable circa now. Compared to other vintage stores, there were some really kooky/costumey pieces here, include a gold lamé jumpsuit ("I had to take that one... it has stirrups!!") and a gothic, Addams-Family-esque black velvet dress with white lace detailing. This would be a fantastic place to find the perfect Halloween costume. It's also a great place to re-live the 90's. As I was browsing, I found myself repeatedly saying to my friend - "omg, remember these?!?" Like those cutout shoulder dresses. Other finds include leopard printed faux-fur coats and beat-up vintage leather jackets for men. There's a sale rack (currently 50% off some winter merchandise) and a $10 accessories section at the back. Definitely worth a look!

Even the change room curtain looks like outer space. It's a small and cozy shop that's never too busy. I almost didn't want to write this review because it's one of the city's best kept vintage secrets. The clothes: Whereas a lot of vintage shops in the city have a huge variety of clothing from all kinds of different eras, Chosen features a well-curated selection of clothes that appeal to anyone with a lust for the 90s (ie. me) and girls who want to be a bit more badass and a bit less girly. But this doesn't mean they don't have girly t't to Chosen and you can find sexy little lace slips, James Dean-esque leather jackets, and combat boots for dancing all night. The staff: No complaints here. The owner and the one other girl I've met are both super friendly, helpful and full of interesting tidbits about the pieces. Best finds: I bought the most comfortable/warm/amazing winter boots here that I will keep forever and always.

I saw a Barbie Balenciaga pink puffer go for $999.00 instead of the price in The Room of $3,400.00 just a few months ago! I check out the store every couple of days in the hope of new arrivals in my size. Outstanding selection of great labels and the layout of the store is very organized. I found a beautiful green cashmere/silk shirt sleeve sweater by Marlowe (Italy) and a fabulous (reduced for quick sale) Lululemon jacket- excellent for running and plane travel. Excellent selection of gorgeous scarves and purses and jewelry. Definitely a "must" if you are looking for some beautiful clothes at great prices.

They have super cute vintage dresses that I was particular taken with and still love to look at (even though during covid my preferred outfit is sweats). I got so many compliments on dresses I bought from that store, whether I wore their stuff socially or at work. Actually it kind of made me feel like I was one of those glamorous women in Mad Men. I'll always have a soft spot for this place - highly recommend if you're into vintage, pretty dresses. Most of that part of Queen Street has great vintage finds.

There were more adorable earrings, purses, and clothes than I could fathom. My friend and I wandered the store for nearly an hour alternately exclaiming, "cute!" with mouth agape or chatting up the staff. As Erin H mentions, each showcased artist/designer works onsite once a week. The only downside to this is if inquiring minds have questions about something other than the artist du jour personally made, there won't be any answers. And as a person with some hard core metal allergies, I won't buy jewelry unless I am certain that it doesn't contain anything that will make my earlobes swell. However, I was lucky to encounter the artist who crafted the earrings that fell in love with and so, got to take them home with me (and support the local arts). Plus, I was able to be a helper that day (I love being of assistance). As the resident artist handed me a credit card receipt, I was able to pass along this little tip: legal colors only please! I passed on the pink pen handed to me and instead signed with a my own, handy blue plume. For, although I wasn't planning on contesting the charges, anyone could attempt to do so and without either a customer's blue or black ink signature on file, the store might end up "out" some fundage.

Just going through the racks (which I normally hate to do) is a real pleasure! From the 40s dresses to the 80s Hawaiian shirts to the 70s jumpsuit, whatever decade you are looking for is here! I saw so many cute dresses that would just look fabulous in my closet! I will definitely return in a few weeks to see what they have. Hopefully they have some new stock that I can peruse.

The clientele is middle aged women mostly and the clothes reflect that. You'll find J.Crew, Aritzia, Club Monaco, a lot of activewear brands, and for designer some Michael Kors or Tory Burch but nothing overly expensive. They mark down items after a month or two, and the prices are pretty fair.

My finds over the years are too many to list, but some of my favourites include a $13 Harvey's seatbelt bag, killer Diesel jeans for $11, a stylin' $45 Mexx interview-type suit that evidently did the trick. Everything here is sorted by size instead of colour, which is precisely how all second-hand stores ought to be. The stellar organization makes it way faster to find things, and the finds are so abundant here that I always creatively interpret the six-item limit at the change rooms. Older stock will get discounted up to 70% (I think), but tags are sometimes not marked down yet, so ask and check the date on the tag to see if it might get further reduced. It's exclusively women's wear and accessories, but no shoes. While clean and orderly, the store probably hasn't seen a reno since Michael Jackson was black, but who cares? Not I. This place deserves a bajillion stars and is absolutely worth the trip out to Etobicoke.

This store sits on Queen St and just near the hip area of Ossington. Unlike the Ossington spots, Garb's store has the large windows that lets in a lot of natural light. When you first walk into the store, you don't think stereotypical 'consignment'. For starters, lots of items are in well thought out displays, everything is clean and pristine (more on this later), and Dan (the owner) is careful to choose which items he'd feel be sold and not sit on the shelves. Another thing about the store... it's well organized. So you don't feel like you're in a musty and cluttered place... instead everything is organized just to size and by type. Nice and easy to find that special or interesting piece. Working and talking to him was easy... he's very genuine and not once did he give me the look of "why did you buy this" haha... though to be fair, I had tags still on a lot of the items I brought in. I just hang on to things I should let go! He was very fair to price the items and made the whole service a breeze to go through. I do like how he has everything online so if you ever want to check if your item sold... all it takes is to log into your online account and voila! Easy to find. Other places require days for them to catalog and then you have to call in every time you're curious. Nahhhh not here. About the brands they carry... it's definitely premium and often you will find items with a tag on it. Nothing sits for more than 90 days here... for a buyer, it's great as you can items become discounted and find those amazing deals. With consignment, if you want tooo long, someone else can snatch it. Another great thing about Garb is the quality of the items... its all in good shape and if it's a bit dirty, he does ask the consignee to wash or dry clean before bringing it back! As a person who may buy from here, I really appreciate that. Overall, it's one of the better managed and better services I've been given from a consignment store. Here's hoping my items sell!

Check out the local handmade masks for $15. In Toronto you have to wear a mask in indoor spaces now so if you need one for when you go to buy food these ones are cotton, machine washable and made by Raygun Designs. Super nice staff and I am so glad they have reopened. You know I love all things retro and this store has fantastic items for sale. Tons of character!
