I found a cat I liked and asked about him. I was told he needed to see vet first. I thought ok, then asked when he will be available. In a few days was the best I could get out if her. I then asked to adopt him now and pay all necessary fees etc. and I would pick him up when ready. I was told no. First come first served she replied in an imperious manner. I said I am first why can't I arrange adoption now. I could tell she just wanted to get rid of me and just said "NO!!!" And dismissed me. I asked.if I could be called or emailed when he is available. Again a big fat NO. Just look on our site. Firstly, why can't a pet be adopted prior to vet procedure, if the applicant is willing to wait and pay all fees ahead if time? Secondly, they need to find a more courteous person to deal with the public. These animals are not her personal property and she is not god.

My little guy was living in the woods with another dog. He was malnourished and needed a lot of TLC. For a small shelter in a rural area I was surprised at the rare breeds they often got there. When I've checked their website and facebook page I've seen Irish Wolfhounds and French Bulldogs. Those are expensive dogs! You also can't beat the price. If I remember correctly, you paid $30 then when you sent in proof that your dog was fixed, you for $25 back in the mail. Can't beat that! I love when people get their pets from shelters and it beats buying your dog from a breeder 100% of the time! Don't forget to drop off your old blankets and towels and bring in your extra dog and cat food. They can always use it!!!

Everyone we met was super nice and cared about finding the perfect family for the puppy, without being off putting. We brought our reactive 5 yr old dog for a meet and greet. First we had them on opposite sides of the fence on leash. Once that went well, we moved our dog inside the fence, still of leash. Once that went well, we took a short walk together. After that, we went back to an exam room(they are a vet too) and got them both drinks. We filled out the final paperwork and took him home. What set them apart were the things they gave us to make the transition easier for the puppy- dog bed from his foster and crate, balance of his bag of food so we can transition, toys, and starter doses of flea/tic/heartworm meds. I picked my cat, filled out a brief application on the spot, paid a very reasonable fee, and went home with my new cat within an hour. The only thing I didn't like was they gave me zero advice on how to help my cat settle into my home, didn't tell me what food he was eating so I could buy more, never followed up to see how we were doing, etc. However, a relative who just adopted from there said they did all of the above and more for her. Either my case was an oversight or they've improved their process since last year. Luckily, it worked out okay for me and my new cat anyway. They have a LOT of cats waiting for homes. I like that their facility is a nice building.

When I was looking for a dog I interacted with many facilities and this BY FAR seemed to have its "ducks in a row" and I loved how detailed the process was. I filled out a long application then was contacted by my dogs foster mom. We emailed back and fourth (answering all the questions I had) and decided to schedule a meeting at the foster moms house because my dog was VERY scared of people and had a rough life beforehand. After the home visit went well, I did a trial weekend with the dog at my place. The foster mom texted me during the weekend and made sure everyone was doing okay. After the weekend, I adopted my dog! Over 3 and a half years later, I still rave about Hearts of Hope. My dog is sleeping against to me now as I right this. I will always be thankful to them for bringing my dog and I together. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this organization!!

Those involved with it are volunteers, who are devoted to helping homeless, unwanted dogs and cats find forever homes. Which is great, and they probably do a great job with mild mannered, pliable dogs. What I say next is not said with malice, but simply to offer a heads-up so you don't have false expectations. If you adopt a difficult dog that needs extensive interaction don't expect much, if any support. They may suggest they are there for you, but in reality they really aren't - they're volunteers with regular jobs and 'lives'. Once the dog is transferred to you, they may offer some "puppy style training" advice like - "Just make sure they have a happy environment." Which again is really more common sense, than advice and provides zero guidance for a difficult situation. If your adopted dog has serious behavioral issues, they don't seem to have the qualifications to provide professional guidance. In fact, you'll likely get the duck-and-dodge routine if you request assistance. The point being, don't waste your time contacting them, and instead seek the assistance of a professional. Again, this is not written to disparage the great volunteer service they provide in helping to relocate dogs/cats in need, rather to provide clarification of their ability to provide support after the adoption.

I texted a friend in the area, shouted out to my Facebook friends from the local area, and called another groomer booked solid until 16 May--they could not do anything for me. Next, I called Pampered Pets and let them know my 17-year-old fur baby needed a full service. They were booked solid too (why shouldn't they be - they are an amazing full-service doggie daycare and groomer), but they said to give them a couple of hours to see if they could work me in. I should mention I was only in town visiting family for two more days. As promised, they called back after their noon rush was complete and were able to accommodate us first thing this morning. They were gentle and my Eskie looks beautiful. I highly recommend them to all my friends and family in the Tri-City area and I believe they are expanding their services, so give them a call and let them take care of your pampered pets too.
