I recently bought masala para from Chowpatty sweet mart on oak tree in NJ and it was stale and smells like if it was fried in a old and already fried oil. This is my second bad experience. First time I bought mong dal snack and it was also very bad in smell and taste. I thought let me give a second try. I live in CT and this place is too far for me to go and just return this item. I'm posting this because if you want to buy this item , make sure you check the product and then buy. I like their morichoor ladoo, khaman dhokla and other stuff.

The food was delicious. I recommend getting the vada pav . The back patio area was open and nice. They had a virtual menu.

Fantastic selection of sweets. Cashew based ones are great and found on the left. There are also fruit, coconut, rose, cardamom, pistaccio, and endless other styles. Many of the sweets have a great consistency, freshly made, and medium-mild sweetness, not overly sweet, just right. They offer free samples if you're unsure- ask for recommendations or they're favorite!

This place used to be our go to place to pick up Fafadas but not anymore. Picked up fafada and star gathiya Thursday night to be completely disappointed. They both tasted like there was some other flour mixed into the gram flour. Fafada normally have cracks in them but as you can see from the pictures absolutely nothing. Maybe it's machine made which is fine but that taste was just horrible. The gathiya also were nothing to write home about. Again seemed like mixed flour and no softness to them. Complete waste of the money spent on them and believe the prices were ridiculous as well. This place is definitely not what it used to be.

Diabetes danger! These sweets are awesome.

We went into Chowpatty just expecting to get a quick post-lunch dessert and left with $37 worth of sweets! The cashier and the employees were very friendly and patient while we took our time ordering. They offer samples on the counter so you can taste each type of sweet before ordering it. Though my family has a long history with Indian sweets, I myself don't have as much a taste for or experience with them. I've never seen samples offered in the few sweets stores I've visited in India or NYC, and according to my sister who is much more knowledgeable in this field, this is not common practice. That's why I feel that this place is especially awesome for rookies to the Indian sweet world, like me, since customers can get a sense of what they are ordering and feel safe in trying new things! Even without this detail, the sweets were delicious and the employees are very helpful. I would recommend this sweet shop!

I always find good deals there too with one being the coconut water on sale today when I got there. Overall the place is lively with well lit areas and signs showing where everything is. ** Great Selection and Fresh Produce!**…read more Lotte Market is one of the better Asian grocery stores around--definitely a go-to if you're looking for a wide variety of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Southeast Asian ingredients under one roof. The store is clean, well-organized, and the produce section is surprisingly fresh with lots of options you don't usually find in regular supermarkets. The seafood section is a standout--plenty of fresh fish and shellfish, and they even clean or cut it for you on request. The meat section is also well-stocked with cuts popular in Asian cuisine. You'll find everything from marinated bulgogi to hotpot essentials. There's a great range of snacks, noodles, sauces, frozen dumplings, and ready-to-eat meals. The in-store bakery and food court are added bonuses--try the Korean fried chicken or fresh buns! Parking is usually decent, but weekends can get crowded. Prices are a little on the higher side compared to smaller ethnic stores, but the convenience and variety make up for it. Service and billing slower at times Still, highly recommended for any Asian grocery shopping needs!

It just opened in March so it's still in working progress. Will come back in 6 months to a year to see how it goes. Ones I like are the ayam goreng (fried chicken) , and Nasi Pedang (Rice & variety of meats / veggies). Beef rendang is harder to get, would recommend calling ahead and they will order one for you from Ramayana. Best part , saves you the 3 hour round trip drive to Philly. I don't mind paying a few extra dollars for that convenience. They also have frozen bakso balls as well if you need those to make soup at home too. Overall a good grocery store. Don't forget to bring your own bags as always. Only knock is the small and tight parking lot in front of the store. A pain to get in and out of here. Usually resort to parking at the burger place nearby, grab a burger or two and head to this store. Check it out if you love Indo food.
