She is extremely knowledgeable about Thomas Kinkade art and shared a lot of personal information about him that came from her, and her husband's, personal relationship with the artist prior to his death. We could not get that picture out of our minds. So, after much discussion, we went back and purchased the 24" x 36" print with the frame. The print is still there as we elected to wait until an artist "textured", or highlighted it to look more like an original painting. Normally a $300 fee is charged for that, but Esther informed us that they had an artist coming in November who would do it free, with us in attendance, so we elected to wait until then to pick up our print. Esther was very helpful and is a very charming lady, who gave us hugs when we finally left. I would highly recommend this gallery to anyone, whether they are fans of Thomas Kinkade or have never heard of him. They have some of the most beautiful artwork you can imagine.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), the new place had more windows and fewer places to hang pictures so quite a few missed the cut and stood in a corner of our garage. During the past 3 years, some got banged around and their glass became cracked. After deciding what to save, we decided to visit Starving Artists Picture Framing because of the great reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. A nice woman greeted us (probably Beverly...according to most reviewers), examined each of the 4 pieces and asked some appropriate questions. After settling on what needed to be done - new glass for each and framing for one - she gave us an estimate of $400 with the work to be completed in 2 weeks. That total was about half the cost given to us by Michael's in Santa Maria shortly before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. So, based on the estimate, time required and friendliness of this woman, we went ahead. Everything was ready as promised and looked as good as new. The previous reviews were right. A couple of things to note. The shop itself, at the corner of Grand and Halcyon in Arroyo Grande, has a small showroom in the front and workspace in the back. From the choices of art displayed on the walls, the owner (Beverly?) has a quirky sense of humor. And, since it's right along a busy part of Grand Avenue, the best place to park is around the side in a small lot. We'll certainly return to this shop if other picture framing needs arise.

Great way to keep track! The reason for the three star rating is the lack of customer service. When I go to a winery, I expect the person pouring the wine to explain each one that I'm tasting. There was no explanation at all. Maybe I should of asked, but it was odd for a winery not to do that. The gentleman that poured didn't look too happy to be there either. I cringed each time I had to walk up to get my next pour. He barely said two words to me and I just got the feeling he was mad or upset about something. I wish I would have gotten his name! The girl that helped in the beginning was kind, but she also never explained each pour. Just a weird interaction overall. Would I return here? Yes! I loved the grounds and the peacocks. The wine was decent and I would like to try the ciders next time, but I'll probably go inside the store where they were also pouring wines. Hopefully they know what they're doing! Overall, a great spot to check out and next time I will make it a point to ask for a description of each pour even though I shouldn't have to.
