My…read morewife was overcome with emotion upon seeing the "Walk of Faith" limited edition print that was displayed. We left after touring the gallery with the owner, Esther. She is extremely knowledgeable about Thomas Kinkade art and shared a lot of personal information about him that came from her, and her husband's, personal relationship with the artist prior to his death. We could not get that picture out of our minds. So, after much discussion, we went back and purchased the 24" x 36" print with the frame. The print is still there as we elected to wait until an artist "textured", or highlighted it to look more like an original painting. Normally a $300 fee is charged for that, but Esther informed us that they had an artist coming in November who would do it free, with us in attendance, so we elected to wait until then to pick up our print. Esther was very helpful and is a very charming lady, who gave us hugs when we finally left. I would highly recommend this gallery to anyone, whether they are fans of Thomas Kinkade or have never heard of him. They have some of the most beautiful artwork you can imagine.

Unlike other things of dubious distinction, his work is not an acquired taste - you either love it or don't, and I don't. I find it too reminiscent of the paint-by-number kits popular during my childhood to warrant much admiration. In deference to those whose home decor includes multiple samples of his output, I'll award this three stars as an ideal place for you to indulge your questionable taste.

The two-story building has changed over the years, with the addition of a classroom and kitchen, as well as a second floor gallery. MBAA is celebrating it's 70th Anniversary with MBAA SALON 2021 - Show & Sale which runs through July 12, 2021. The two story art center is presently showcasing a large number of member artist's approaches from Pop Art to Contemporary, in medias of acrylics, glass, bronze, mixed-media and much more. Their current hours are from noon until 4 pm, except Saturdays they have extended hours to 6 pm. This member supported volunteer organization is an asset to the Central Coast community.

The New Times ran a feature showing some of the work on exhibit, so we drove out to the coast for the day and sauntered in. The gallery is refurbished since days of old, and features a nice exhibit space on the first floor, while a second large art gallery is somewhat hidden up a set of stairs. The bird drawings paintings, and prints were uniquely evocative of our central coast area and the works also drew upon the beautiful surrounding environment. Since January and February are primo "Birders" months, and Morro Bay now has an ongoing Birders Festival each year, this was a perfect match. We enjoyed the display and the ceramics and jewelry that the upstairs had. We will return to more shows in this gallery.

They also teach enameling, lost wax casting, and do painting workshops. The Gallery started back in 2015 by a bunch of artist who needed some space to work, teach, and sell their products. Anita Marie Schwebel is one of the original artists who founded this shop during the pandemic, with 3 other artists, Jade Coast, Carol Manuputy, and John Robson. Anita Marie was minding the shop today. She was delightfully warm and charming. Anita says that many other local artisans have their jewelry, artwork, and beautiful hand made gift items here on display. The items are priced in line with their quality and value. There is quite an array of jewelry and gifts made of stones, and semi-precious stones, perfect thoughtful gifts for those with distinctive taste and appreciation for local artists.
