However, in just over a month of work with Jack, I was accepted in my school's first wave. Jack's waitlist program requires a lot of dedication and work from the student, but Jack will match you in enthusiasm. Jack's passion and knowledge of the waitlist area is grounded in his own experience-- he bases the whole program on what worked for him when he was a high school senior-- and the experience of dozens of students he has helped before. If you're a statistics person, like me, his website outlines how waitlisted students continually beat the odds with his help. Jack helps students stand out beyond the standard letter of continued interest, and by the end of Jack's program, my admissions officer knew who I was out of hundreds of applicants. Jack's advice was invaluable, and I can't recommend him enough to any senior or junior looking for college counseling or waitlist help. I want to briefly add that aside from his fantastic advice, Jack is also a pleasure to work with. He is enthusiastic, passionate, and fun to talk to, which is a startling contrast to some of the other college counselors I've spoken with, who ranged from disconnected to downright unpleasant. If you need help with college or your career, Jack is the way to go.

It also enabled him to set up a high school game plan on the jobs he took in high school, along with classes and other activities. The summer between junior and senior year, he worked on his personal statement essay along with the individual essays for the colleges in which he will apply. He had a great head start on these before his senior year classes began. What I love about having Piotr, Jack and the team at Delehey College Consulting behind us, is that they helped preserve the relationship we have with our son. They were there to ask questions and bounce ideas off of. They gave him great feedback on the essays he wrote and even though our son gave them to us to read, the feedback that Piotr provided even though it was similar to our feedback and thoughts, carried more weight as he was the expert in my son's eyes. I don't yet know the outcome of my son's college applications, but I do know that without Delehey College Consulting and Piotr's advice and guidance my son's application would not be as strong as it is and he wouldn't be as prepared as he was at the start of his school year which alleviated a great deal of stress and even got us a thank you for the push to get the essays mostly completed before the school year began. We interviewed several College Consultants and went with the consultant that my son felt most comfortable with and that he could work with the best. Delehey College Consulting wasn't the cheapest option, but in our eyes it was the best option and provided us the best bang for the buck. My son and I have known that we could ask any question and it would be answered in a short amount of time. We know that they will be there for us until my son determines which school he will attend next school year. I honestly can't say I've been disappointed even slightly throughout the contact we've had over the last 2 years and into this school year. If I had another child, we would use Delehey College Consulting for him/her as well. We believe that much in the service and guidance we have received.

Her balance of structure, communication, and energy made each process as stress-free as possible and with material personal attention and progress throughout. When I refer to stress-free, I'm talking for both my sons and my wife and me! Nita is caring and skilled, and she brought out the best in both of our kids. Her encouragement in the writing process for the many essays at many schools led to more creative and insightful narratives. She's a chameleon for different types of students. Our oldest had more of a sense of where he wanted to go and what he wanted to study but wasn't naturally self-driven to get the work done. So for him, Nita masterfully broke down the assignments to make them achievable, and he never complained about having work to do (still trying to figure out this particular magic myself!). He's now a rising Senior at the University of Washington and love it. Our other son is more self-driven to get work done but had very little sense for what he wanted in a school. Nita supported his research on so many different academic, social, and other fronts to first illuminate questions he should ask on college visits and then narrow down his list based on the information he acquired. Now, he's about to enter his Freshman year at Dartmouth College and is so excited! Throughout the process, Nita was supportive and encouraging yet firm. Outside of my wife and me, she was our boys' biggest cheerleader, celebrating all of their successes as enthusiastically as we did. I highly recommend Nita for anyone who is looking for a truly gifted college counselor.

He never helped us negotiate an offer, we had to bug him for 3 months to fill out the FAFSA/CSS Profile, which is a part of the services we paid for. He told us he would put together an "apples to apples" spreadsheet with all offers our son received. It took us FOUR months of asking for this to receive the correct information. The first several we received had colleges on it we never even looked at, much less applied to. Many emails and phone calls went unanswered. We finally gave up on his services. He doesn't even know where our son decided to go to school.

He was easily worth the hourly fee and saved me many times that amount in college tuition for my twins. With one child at Whitman and one at Smith, Jay was able to provide me direction, explained an error from when I filled out and submitted the FAFSA/CSS, and gave me terrific advice for how to handle the error with each school. He even knew the difference between how the two schools view my assets so I could make better financial decisions without adversely impacting my kids' financial aid. As a single mom getting the kids through school, his help was invaluable. I feel fairly financially savvy. Yet, I took their questions too literally and made a mistake on the FAFSA/CSS that cost my kids money. He has mastered the insanely complex world of financial aid. I cannot recommend Jay enough.
