I was first referred to Dr. Apfelbeck because I was having problems with my eyelids. They performed a treatment that has made such a big difference. I was also impressed with all the great frames. I love my new glasses. I have been going to Grand River Eye Care for a few years now and I highly recommend this office to all my friends and family in Waterloo. I have a lot of respect for Dr. Apfelbeck and her team.

Their store design is great, well layed out, and they use very modern equipment for eye measururing etc.. He took a good amount of time to show me, step by step, the process of wearing contacts (starting with videos on wide screen monitor and then 1:1 personal training). To top it off, I paid a very reasonable, competitive market price for the brand and quality of contact lenses I purchased. Finally, he aligned my pair of glasses , and even replaced the nose pads with some very comfortable silion ones -- at no extra charge (yes, I did ask to pay for them). I did not even buy the pair of glasses from him, and the extra generosity is appreciated!

Dr. Ali Hussen is a good optometrist; however, compared to the university, his price is not competitive. ( 80 dollars for the 2 hor full exam from university of waterloo optometry, and they are highly trained and professional. student first, then supervisor checked) another thing to mention is that most of the commercial optometrists use machine to check the eye prescription first, but the UW doesnt have a machine to do that, which means optometry students have to manually check everything carefully, then the real doctor (supervisor) would check you very fast again and sign the prescription.

I was originally looking to buy a Gucci frame, but ended up getting a Jimmy Choo instead. Price was fantastic (as is the other store, and you can check out my review for it). Staff here were honest about what works and what doesn't and made excellent suggestions. I would recommend anyone come here or the other place for glasses. They have a wide range of glasses at different price points, so I think anyone could find the perfect glasses to fit their budget.
