I have an appointment since January and I am waiting for call, today I surprised that our…read moreregistration was not complete and we have no appointment. Who is responsible for the 4 months waiting ??? very bad thing

(Although I am in favour of the government ensuring pay equity for Canadian optometrists, I believe the job action was an unprofessional choice which only impacted patients and had no impact on government.). Covid also had prevented me from seeking an appointment prior to vaccines coming available. Because of these delays, I was overdue for an eye exam and my glasses were becoming scratched and coatings flaking off. I could not even get a replacement pair because my last prescription was over 2 years old. Once the job action was suspended I phoned for an appointment and was told I would need to go on a waiting list. I was initially OK with this as I suspected there would be some delay. However, when my wife (who is not a senior) phoned the practice, she was given an appointment immediately. I then tried again to get an appointment and was told I had to wait. This tells me one thing - that this practice cares more about money than the health of its patients, I don't believe this is in the spirit of the optometrists' oath as health professionals. If you want to ensure that you are supporting a professional optometrist who genuinely cares about your vision and health, please look up the positive reviews of other optometrists in Guelph and choose one.

Now I need progressives which before I barely wore reading glasses and had no problems with distance. For years the retired Dr. Neff would tell me my prescription and I'd go to the dollar store because he knew I was low income. I picked out a nicer pair of frames because these glasses were meant to be worn all the time. I got a middle of the line progress lens because they are expensive and my plan didn't pay that much. When I picked them up, I said right away I didn't like them. Reading was hard and distance looked the same with or without the glasses. I was told to give them a chance. They didn't work for me and I was extremely frustrated. At the same time my eyes had gotten bad again so back to a new Dr, Dr.Wells. Now it's march I have glasses that I can't wear because I can't see but apparently it's because my eyes are irritated again. So once again, After everything is cleared up I get a new prescription of progressives, and when I get these, I say the same thing they don't feel right. I feel like I have to wear them on my forehead to see. And again, I am told take them home wear them for a few weeks you'll get used to them. Sadly it doesn't end there my eyes get irritated again and I'm back in May. This time I'm using double sided tape to tape glasses above eyebrows which I have told them and that I have no issues with seeing distance. I now have a pair of $900 reading glasses that I tape to my head. They are way too big for my head so they slide down. They fixed the arms to make smaller and digs in back of head and gives me a headache. Finally I asked talked the progressives out, just give me reading glasses. Again I couldn't read with them on unless I hold things 26-28 inches away I called again. And was told it was normal but I think see thought 12inches but I said arms length. She ask if I want to come in and see the doctor but of course I had Covid so I said no. I tried calling back to make appointment and to see what was going to happen with the difference in the price of glasses. I own a pair of $900 unusable reading glasses not the $900 progressives lens. I blocked my number and called on oct 4th after numerous messages not being returned finally I was told I'd get an answer in two days. So I still have eye problems to the point now that I can't barely see. I haven't heard from them and an answering machine takes calls so I have not had any returned calls. I have called 142 times since May and twice a week since October, it's all on my phone. Sadly you make appointments to pick up glasses and when you say no these are not right that should be it because I had another eye infection. They allow me to continue to sit and wait for my money. And probably going blind doing it.
