Moving from the south and being in an interracial marriage with biracial children, it was important for us to connect with people who fostered acceptance and value in community. Churches in America are often segregated and we were looking for a worship setting that embraced my family by including people from various races, cultures, social economics, and age. I think this is a true representation of what Heaven will be like and love that we can begin experiencing that now! Triumph DC promotes a true sense of family, sound Biblical teaching and worship. It's easy to get connected with other people here and avoid the feeling of isolation which the "rat race" of living in the city seems to promote. Dr. Geraldine Tompkins gave a great message. She spoke on the 73rd Psalm. "From A Slippery Slope to the Sanctuary" was the title of her sermon. It basically talked about unfairness. How come the people who have no regard for God seem to prosper beyond belief when we God fearing bible beating knee benders seem to suffer. I'm telling you this piece touched me. I've visited New Canaan many times before (in my pre-yelp days). I'll definitely return. Especially when Dr. Tompkins is a guest speaker.

(Bishop Thomas Shahan) Indeed, what a spectacular experience first-hand spiritual nourishment by attending masses in both the Upper Church and Crypt church (I had gone to the Sunday 4:30 p.m. & Friday Daily Mass at 12:10 p.m.), in addition to the highlight concert of the convention week that gave us a glimpse of the many expressions of music: from the 56 bells of the Knights Tower Carrillon, to the narly 10,000 pipes of the great organs - as well as the voices of the Choir of the Basilica joined by us attendees and the faithful of both locals & tourists in the DMV region! I was able to walk around the Basilica's perimeter, as well as adorn the grounds and peruse through the many side chapels depicting Mother Mary in all cultures and heritages that represent the great devotion to the Blessed Mother around the world! In addition, the Basilica is well-kept and well-preserved, as well as secured - thanks to the many docents and security personnel that keeps visitors safe! Did I mention free parking?! The 1 good thing that occurred in my life because of the Covid pandemic was being invited by a…read morelong-distance friend to attend Weds evening Bible Study and Sunday worship service with this Grace United Baptist Church located on Jackson Street in DC via Zoom, as I wouldn't have had that opportunity without the option to attend virtually if it hadn't been for the pandemic! I enjoy time spent with the Grace Church family, mother Davis, Reverend Gary A. Davis & wife 1st Lady Christina Davis, and learning about the word of God and praising Him. If you're in search of a welcoming, upbeat, caring church family with a Reverend that strictly preaches & teaches from the Word of God (KJV, NEW KJV, NLT BIBLE, etc) and DOESN'T stray from the Word nor take any of its content out of context, as I know some Pastors, Reverends, Priests, and churches do today, especially in terms of things that are becoming more widely accepted (but an abomination to the LORD) in our society today such as homosexuality & gay marriages, or allowing people without true knowledge or understanding of the Bible to think premarital sex is acceptable in the eyes of the Lord, then this is a church for you! Reverend Davis doesn't sugarcoat the Word with the hope of increasing the number of members, donations, & tithings but rather preaches & teaches the true Word directly from the Bible with a mission to lead as many people as possible to the Lord to receive their salvation... I truly feel blessed for the opportunity I was given when I received the invitation to attend their service via Zoom from a dear friend & long-time member of the church that lives in Washington DC, many miles away from me here in the state of PA. Even now more than 3 years since the pandemic blew up, I'm still able to attend worship svc and Wednesday Bible study virtually every week via Zoom!
