I was parked close to the…read moreplayground area for about 5 minutes at around 9 pm playing "Pokémon Go" when a woman who is a member of this church approached me in my car from her vehicle. She asked if I needed something to which I replied "no, I am playing Pokémon Go" and showed her my phone. Perhaps she doesn't know what the game is, but her response was "you need to leave, this is private property, leave now!" l left immediately. I was considering joining this church given I had been stopping by it often as it is close to my house but definitely will not now. I was made to feel like a criminal. Sadly this church has a couple of nice Pokémon Go "stops" and "gyms" like most other churches. I will try to notify the creators of this game to remove this church from their app as visitors are not welcome according to her. Some people may agree with this woman but at times like these I think we should try to treat each other with respect and be more welcoming to others. I know she doesn't speak for the entire church but she is now the only reflection of the church that I have and will have.

We have lived here 2 years, and started out at a church in Georgetown, that was our protestant denomination. We visited The Worship Place with friends in our neighborhood, and found it very friendly. In fairness, we are a senior couple, and we didn't have visiting family. Ultimately, we did join The Worship Place, and we attend at the Rocky Hollow campus. I would love, love to see visiting families with children come to our service. I love it when grandchildren visit, and would be very comfortable bringing ours to the service.

This camp is designed for Kinder through 5th graders (who have just graduated 5th grade) and runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Children who participate in this camp play games, read scripture, and parents can purchase Chick-fil-A meals for $12.00 per day for kiddos. Each day, the children learn about various bible passages that align with the theme of the camp. Each summer, the camp theme changes, and this year, it was "Road Trip" (taking a trip to discover Christ). On the last day of camp, parents are invited to camp to hear 'the word' with their children, learn about what has been happening throughout the week, and have a meal with their campers. Aside from the faith-based center of the camp, as a parent, I appreciated the communication that was sent to parents daily via email and on paper as well as the security protocols put in place to drop off and pick up campers safely and effectively. As a bonus, professional photos of campers are taken daily doing various types of activities. Parents can view these photos on a private website and download photos of their camper(s). Thing Two liked this camp so much to the point that she asked to volunteer next year at this location. We weren't expecting much as the others were fairly small but the size of this one can be overwhelming. It was multiple stories tall and had piles of things for sale. Each room had more and more vendors. If you're looking for the crafty sort of gifts this place has everything from wood-carved crosses to jewelry to hair ties. Parking was hard despite the large lots because it was overflowing with people. For mobility impaired folks there's only one elevator which can make it hard to navigate as it's also pretty slow.

The pastor blamed it all on my mental health, and said he has no empathy or compassion for me. He said I need a psychiatrist. That's not what I need, so I will never go back there again. It was Fellowship Church in Round Rock. It's a false church. I came here and found Pastor Marshall. He was so kind and compassionate!!! He was so kind that I started crying!!! I will definitely be going back to that church!!! I have been looking for a church home, and I finally found one. I ran into Meg there, and she wasn't overly friendly, but she's okay. I will still probably be doing counseling with her. It's a biblically sound church too!!! The only one I know of in the area!!

I was surprised Christians would go so far out of their way to complain about things they can simply choose not to participate in. Yes, seating is assigned because the main area is small and often full. While it isn't my preference, it's never been an issue. The church does a great job coordinating parking, greeting people, opening doors, and helping everyone find their seats. The kids' area requires security stickers for entry, which I really appreciate. They'll stop anyone without one, and I love that focus on safety. Most importantly, the messages always hits home. We come to hear the Word, and VCC consistently delivers. Keep up the great work!

The lead usher forced my wife and I out of the "family room" to watch service along with another family as there were no posted signs it was "women only." As a father of a newborn, needing a place to nurse, there are ZERO facilities available unless you identify as a woman. Have been a member for 2+ years and have never seen such a blatant disrespect for a family trying to attend services TOGETHER. Absolutely mortified, embarrassed, and tentatively pulling our membership as our home church. Have had problems in the past with Alex on the small group teams talking my wife and I out of leadership roles, and following up excessively (makes the car warranty guys look professional.) Awful awful awful experience as a new family of 3, after numerous volunteers told us we had a place to go. I even tried their number listed on google, called on a Monday (online said they were open,) there's zero opportunity to leave a VM to voice concern and after a physical visit to the church all doors locked when it was posted they were open/available.

Have met the most genuine, non-judgmental & kind people:) This is exactly what my family's been needing. My kids are older, but looks like they have very involved babies/kids/pre-teen/teen programs. Btw, it's a genuine bible church (sound teaching-yet highly enjoyable sermons) and the worship? Perfect-gets me out of my brain and into praising our Heavenly Father. There are so many active groups here--probably the parent group is the biggest--this is definitely a family church! Sunday services are always an absolute joy. Our newly-installed minister, Reverend Joanna is a very gifted speaker--funny, relevant, moving, inspiring. I have found community here. I've found friendship and family and faith. My kids and I are so grateful for this place, the people we find there and the inspiration and activism that the church spurs.

I stopped going to church earlier in life because I simply didn't buy what they were selling. I…read morebecame so jaded that I was dead set against ever attending church of any sort again. Later, after becoming a parent, I was even more set against going to church because I didn't want to tell my children what to believe - I want them to think for themselves and decide on their own what they believe. After a while, however, I realized that by not exposing them to any religion at all, I was doing just what I was trying to avoid - I was telling them to not believe anything. After a few years of searching, I stumbled across Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church. I stalked them on Facebook, and scoured every page of their website before ever considering attending. Clearly, a more liberal religion, welcoming to literally everyone, with social justice as a major part of what they believe - it seemed too good to be true. But finally, after months of prodding from my husband, I conceded to visit. Once. Within minutes of the service starting, I was in tears. All it took was hearing the affirmation, recited at every service, to know we'd found something really special. "Love is the spirit of this church and service its law. This is our great covenant: To dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another." After the service, we found ourselves in the fellowship hall enjoying coffee with members - we were approached by several members, and made to feel so incredibly welcome. As we left, my husband couldn't believe his ears when I said, "I can't wait for next Sunday. " The service, and every service that has followed, has had me crying happy tears at at least one point or another. We've made so many friends, and love the community we've become a part of. But mostly, I am so indescribably grateful for the gift that Live Oak is for our kids. RE (religious education) is just that - religious education, not indoctrination. Kids are encouraged to think for themselves and to ask questions. In middle school, they learn about major religions, so that by high school, they are able to make their own faith statement about what they as individuals believe. Exactly what we want for our kids. If you're looking for an open minded, completely welcoming, "I *get* to go to church" instead of "I *have* to go to church" church home - come visit Live Oak UU. :) ******* Edited to reply to Brandon's critique: We are not fighting with anyone. We are simply replacing flags as they are stolen from us. What you call a fight is honestly just us standing for love and inclusivity. And personally, I'm grateful for my children to see that in action.
