Christine is the sole reason I can exclusively BF my baby! I met Christine when my baby was 3 weeks old, after spending time in the NICU and having challenges BFing (already supplementing with formula). She's been the absolute best resource and support helping me navigate BFing and finding options that work for me and my family. Christine saved my breastfeeding journey. And I don't mean that lightly. I showed up to her office 2 days after being discharged. I was ready to give up after a traumatic delivery and NICU stay for baby, my BF journey mostly involved crying at every feed, terrible latch, and cracked nipples. I'm so happy we found Christine! I was a first time mama struggling with our baby latching and had concerns after having a breast reduction in 2009 and what my supply and process would look like. Christine is the BEST!!! I started seeing her when my newborn baby was 10 days old and I had cracked, blistering nipples and I was crying with every feed. She was so kind and knowledgeable. I am so happy I found Christine! She was recommended to me by both my pediatrician and another mom in the area. Christine is so thorough and thoughtful and more than just a lactation consultant, but also became somewhat of a therapist for me through the whole journey. I initially was so nervous about breastfeeding and had trouble with latching. I had a really discouraging experience with the LC at the hospital I delivered at and was worried I wouldn't be able to breastfeed. Christine is amazing!! My breastfeeding journey got off to a very rocky start after having a baby that dropped too much weight and having to constantly pump and supplement with formula. I met with a few other lactation consultants during my hospital stay post C section and left completely confused and overwhelmed. I had a great experience with Christine. She was warm, attentive, thorough, very easy to talk to and calm while we were freaking out. She came to our house, observed a feeding (attempt), listened to everyone and everyone's concerns, and helped a lot. We asked for Christine's help several times - first when I got mastitis, when my daughter was 3 weeks, then when she wasn't gaining weight a few weeks later (Christine diagnosed GERD, pedi confirmed), another time when I needed to get some reassurance about what we were doing (Christine reassured and gave tons of handy tips), a time when I had (or thought I had) yeast. And I thought breastfeeding would just kinda work out on its own. Two of those times she came to our house, and another time we came to the office. For the rest. we emailed and spoke on the phone. I've been most impressed by her follow -through - she continues to check up on you until you convince her that you're okay. She makes time if ever you have more questions, and really takes the time to talk to you until you feel your issues are resolved. Christine was the best investment i have made in the first weeks of my son's life. I was so confused by different information that is out there. Parents, grandparents, books, friends...I just wanted to know if my little boy was doing good. And i didn't know how to find that out. I had some blocked ducts and i just was not confident that breastfeeding was working. When i called Christine, she provided me with a lot of information before i even hired her. This to me meant that she really wanted to help people and spread her knowledge. I ended up hiring her even though the cost seemed high. And the few hours that she spent with us were so precious. She was able to tell me that my son was actually eating very well. And we practiced different positions for breastfeeding. She made corrections to what i was doing in a very soft manner. She made suggestions about other things too, like different ways to hold the baby. She also pushed me out the door for the first stroller walk with my son, which both of us i think badly needed. Christine saved our breastfeeding journey just in the nick of time! I was one day away from giving up on nursing with my then 5 week old son because of a painful latch and poor milk transfer. Christine came to my home and brought her own professional baby scale to assist with the session. I immediately felt at ease with her, even as a stranger in my home during a pandemic. Can't say enough good things about Christine! As a first time mom, breastfeeding, pumping etc was the most surprisingly difficult part that no one adequately prepares you for. With a preterm baby, we had trouble latching and were exclusively pumping initially. Christine was an invaluable teacher and resource over the first few months of our sons life, ultimately getting us to be able to breastfeed without relying on a nipple shield or pump. She has the most amazing bedside manor and puts you at ease right away. Christine is so professional and passionate about what she does, I only wish I had her services for all three of my babies. Breastfeeding is different for everyone and no two babies are alike! With my third she came to the hospital as my son was latching but my boobs were showing signs of distress. The nurses and lactation consultants at the hospital did not take the time that Christine did in watching us latch and doing a thorough examination of baby and mom. My son while latching was not getting his tongue out over his gum so he was essentially gumming on my nipples and not getting adequate milk, which made him even more voracious at feeding time. Christine took the time to assess, problem solve and teach us strategies to overcome this issue in an efficient manner. We are still nursing 17 months later and I know should any problems develop she is just a phone call away. She writes everything down and has the most impeccable follow up as she truly cares not only about the baby (and that the baby is having good feeds) but also about the mom and transition of the rest of the family.
