Went in to have them look a spot on my cheek that was a bit disconcerting and before I knew what was happing the nurse/PA/? was zapping something on my forehead with a laser. She said the spot on my cheek was nothing but was happy to charge me a few hundred bucks for whatever she did to my forehead. It's now 2 years later and the spot that got zapped has turned red and will not heal. I did not intend to leave a review today. was determined that Dr. Rauch would perform the procedure upon my arrival I provided my debit card for the co-pay. Now that my personal information had been captured I was also provided with a document stating that I would be responsible for any charges that the insurance would not cover up to the amount of $1500.00. This organization stated that they would have full access to my personal account and could make withdrawals at will and I would be notified via email prior to the withdrawal. At that very moment I felt extremely uncomfortable with the arrangement but thinking that I would be adequately notified I would be able to adjust accordingly. Here's where the whole program falls apart. Taking it from the top the first charge, a $25.00 co-pay was debited from my account on 08/16/2016. The second charge of $51.41 was debited from my account on 09/06/2016 and I was never notified. Approximately a week later I was debited with a charge of $104.00 again not notified. I caught this in process and asked it be stricken and a stop put on any further charges, (date cannot be provided because it is no longer on the ledger,) action was reversed. On 09/13/2016 I get hit a second time for the same charge of $104.00 and this time it has been processed, a temporary credit was issued and was reversed on 11/30/2016 finding no fault on the part of your organization. Now mind you, this organization hit my account three times in a period of only seven days with each and every time I have not been notified. Suddenly I'm an ATM for Christine Rauch! I reiterate, I was NEVER notified by email, (or any other form for that matter) of any impending withdrawal. Closer examination of the documents forwarded to me from the banking institution had revealed that one of their staff had input my email address incorrectly as baherden@verizon.net instead of the correct address. Given that this can prove to be a most critical factor it would behoove Dr Rauch and her staff to confirm this information rather than take it for granted. Clearly this organization deserves to be paid, I don't take issue with that. I take issue with this organization being paid at the expense of cleaning out my bank account and leaving me with not so much as enough cash to buy gas in order to go to work the next morning. I am currently 68 years of age, (was 63 at the time of the procedure.) I have an advanced education in aviation, I am grossly underemployed as well as under paid. Since I do live paycheck to paycheck these people have absolutely no idea what it's like to have your checking account cleaned out and you have to knock on someone's door at five in the morning hoping to borrow $20.00 so you can get to work? It's coming to the point where it's no longer a service for a fee, it's all about sucking someone's bank account dry. It's beginning to feel like it's a contest to see who can empty my bank account first. I understand that Dr. Rauch's husband is an emergency room triage doctor. Everyone should be justly compensated for their knowledge and intelligence. Between the two of them I'm willing to wager that together they are knocking down half a million a year. It's really a shame that they have to resort to unscrupulous means to accomplish their wealth. Having worked as a trained and licensed aircraft mechanic were my associates and myself are required to maintain and fly aircraft, were the aviation field to be handled like this office has handled my account there would be a bunch of broken aircraft, a whole lot of dead people and someone would most certainly be going to jail. The medical treatment was excellent, the way I was treated on the business side of the house is absolutely deplorable. If I had to do it again and was diagnosed stage four cancer I would turn and walk the other way rather than to be subjected to this kind of abuse. Brings new meaning to the aged term, "A license to steal." Makes me wonder if a crime has been committed? read more

Dr Rausch has been my doctor for the last few years. I am still amazed that I can get a relatively quick appointment with her despite how hugely popular she has gotten since coming to Richmond. Her new offices are modern, spacious and the staff is efficient, courteous, and professional. I had a 9am appointment today and they had me in right on the dot despite there being quite a few ahead of me. When was the last time you could say that about a doctor, let alone a dermatologist? The reason I have used her continuously is for my yearly skin cancer tests. I have a predisposition to them and have taken an active role in making sure I am checked yearly. I grew up on the beach before there was an SPF over 8 and I am now paying for it. I was bought to a room, told to strip down to a gown or to my underwear and waited only about 5 mins before Dr. Rausch came in. She is young, polite, and has a great bedside manner. She examined me head to toe and ended up "freezing" a little spot near my ear. Otherwise I was good to go. She also, for no charge, yanked an ingrown beard hair out (something that has never happened before so don't get grossed out). So, I am feeling really great. For those of you who wouldn't know, Dr Rausch's practice leans toward the skin cancer /melanoma side of dermatology so if you feel you have some areas that need to be looked at, go see her. Care and consideration for the patient should be first at any doctor's office, not money. Their new office policy on contracted insurance plans is not considerate of the patient at all and it makes it appear that their money is more important than their patients. They are offering only two options for payment now. Either they keep your credit card informaiton on file with an independent company to be charged up to $1,500.00 when they deem it necessary OR pay a fee guestimate in advance (could be more than what you are supposed to pay). Neither of those options is any way to treat established, well paying patients, with excellent credit, that have insurance the office accepts. The doctor's office has a contract with the insurance company and should follow the insurance company's protocol and give the patient the opportunity to compare the doctor's paper bill to their insurance EOB (explanation of benefits) before making final payment to the doctor. This assures the doctor is not overcharging the patient. Rather than having their credit card held for ransom by a strange company, the patient should also be given the option to pay with a check after reviewing the EOB and the paper bill. Paying a guestimate up front leaves the patient having to ask for their money back if they overpay which happens quite often at many doctor's offices when there is an upfront guestimate. Getting back a refund takes some time and work an established, well-paying patient shouldn't have to do. The last thing anyone wants is their credit card info. on file with an independent company with spend permissions of up to $1,500.00. Security breaches happen all too often to have to allow spend permissions to an independent company just to be treated by a doctor who is supposed to accept your insurance. The doctor is afraid of not being paid; the patient is afraid of being overcharged by the doctor. Although there are two sides to this situation; the doctor's billing policy is very one sided and inconsiderate of the patient. read more

Where do I start. Dr. Rausch is one of the most compassionate, focused and dedicated doctors I have known. My mother used this doctor for years and now she is my doctor. Dr. Raush's office is always clean, tidy and comfortable. My mother had a basal cell carcinoma on her face that was removed several years ago. It was in a precarious area on her face and Dr. Rausch managed to close it up and make my mother's face look normal again. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a good surgeon to go to Dr. Rausch! You won't find better anywhere in Virginia. read more

The entire staff is so friendly, professional and efficient. Dr Kostopoulos has performed two Mohs surgeries on me and I have a third scheduled. Dr K is very caring and understanding of the patient side of the situation. I wouldn't have gone back for a second and scheduled a third if I didn't think that I wasn't getting the absolute best of care. read more
