    I walked into Richmond Urgent Care after feeling sick for a few days , and since Patient First will no longer accept my insurance at this time, this was the closest urgent care to me. My first impression was surprise, as there were no patients waiting to be seen. I expected the need to wait. The reception and waiting areas were small but clean, if not minimalist. I registered and checked in on a bulky tablet which also served as means to pay my copay. During that process, and with no effort at all, I overheard one of the two reception employees call a patient over the phone, address the patient by name, and tell that person that their blood test was ok. That was unprofessional. Right after I finished checking in, one of the two employees took me to a room to get my vitals. They are not working with any sophisticated equipment and the young lady admitted she did not like their blood pressure reader. Since I was there with cold and flu symptoms, I was surprised not being asked if I had gotten a flu shot, and no flu test was performed. After the vitals, I was taken to an exam room. Again, minimalist, a carpeted room with a small cabinet, no sink, but a TV to watch while waiting. Considering the absence of other patients, I was hoping to not have much of a wait, but I did have some wait time before the doctor came in. She did a strep test, but no flu test. She wrote a script for an antibiotic but wanted me to wait a few days to see if this illness passes because if it is a virus it will go away without antibiotics. So no blood test, no flu test, a negative strep test. There must be a reason why there were no patients there, when I left there still were no other patients. I am not sure I would return here, probably I would only if I pretty much knew what was wrong with me, but if I was injured or had a mystery illness, I would not. I give this a reluctant 3 star due to convenience, accepting my insurance, and that I was given a script for the antibiotics I told the doctor usually wipes out a sinus infection for me.

    Wasn't feeling well for most of the week, chills, cough, runny nose, aches but no fever. My bfs daughter was diagnosed with strep earlier in the week so I wasn't taking any chances. Since I don't have a GP in Richmond (yea, I know I should get on that) I headed to Richmond Urgent Care since it was close to home. Let me start with the positives. There was really no wait for a Thursday afternoon and they have tablets for new patients to fill out their information. (Nice paper saver!) You can even pay your co-pay on it. The room was clean though very bare for the space. The sink was as far from the exam table as it could get. There was no art work, and not really any supplies in the room. When the nurse took my temperature the machine took FOREVER to beep that it was done. Also even though she covered the thermometer with the little plastic thing, when she was done there was no trashcan nearby to eject it into so she held it in her hand (no gloves) to walk to the one on the other side of the room. That's just ewwwww, what if I was really sick?? I hope to god she washed her hands when she left! The nurse came back to swab my throat for a strep test. (Gloves this time!) She asked me to stick my tongue out and down, so what did I do? Pointed my tongue to the floor of course. Apparently this is not what she meant since she kept saying "I need you to put your tongue down". I didn't start to get annoyed until she condescendingly asked if she needed to get a tongue depressor. I told her as far as I could tell my tongue was down. If it wasn't where she needed it to be I was sorry but I can't do much more. Since she'd barely gotten the swab in my throat and was trying to make another pass I sort of assumed when she left the room it was so that she could get a depressor. Well she never came back and about 20 minutes later the MD finally came in. First this out of his mouth was the test came back negative. I had to stop him and explain that I didn't think the nurse had even gotten a good swab. So he wanted to re-test me. I can appreciate that redoing the test means more supplies but I was glad they wanted to be sure. Now the MD was not wearing gloves when he did the swab! I'm not really sure what's going on at this place. He looked in my ears, mouth and listened to my breathing while the second test ran. Again negative. Though he wrote me a Rx for an antibiotic I have no clue what exactly my diagnosis is. I was told because my throat "was red" I automatically was being prescribed the meds. Is it the flu? a cold? Bronchitis? Even though this place was quick and convenient at the time, I'd much more prefer to know what's wrong when I leave the doctors office next time.

DISPATCH HEALTH IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!! Have been unable to book an appointment on two different occasions. The portal states there is availability in my area and to call them. After calling them, I was told there was no availability for the next 48 hours. I call the very next morning as soon as they open and again, no appointments available for the next 48 hours. Dispatch Health has a phone system that causes extreme frustration and it took me 5 tries to finally get a human being to talk to. Then she could not respond because she does not have access to the care records or results! I have to wait until the care provider calls me back on her personal cell which may appear like a spam call to my cell service provider so I may never hear from her again! This service is not for me!!!
