I went yesterday may28 and I was supposed to get a call the next day and i had to pay out of pocket to get seen 175$ I want my money back because you guys didn't even called me or nothing I'm going to report y'all for stealing peoples money, this is so crazy I went there in an actual need I thought y'all were going to actually help me, on top of that there was a used tampon in the bathroom it was a terrible experience I wouldn't recommend it, after I already paid that's when I was searching for a better place but it was already to late!! This is the best urgent care center in RVA, hands down. The doctors provide excellent care, are extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and treated me with the utmost respect and professionalism. Unfortunately had a Covid scare a couple weeks ago and since every single well known Urgent Care facility is currently booked to high heavens, I ended up here after a tip from another mom on Facebook. I gotta admit - it was a little sketchy when I pulled up. There were barely any cars in the parking lot, You can't see it from the street, and when I called they told me to pull into an unlit driveway on the side of the building for my test. However, once the doctor came out, I felt comfortable. The BEST part about this setup, is that you don't have to get out of the car. He came to my door wearing appropriate PPE, administered the test, and then had me fill out an information packet while I waited. It took 15 minutes and my test thankfully came out negative. I also got a flu test which was negative also. Overall, it was a good experience and well worth the $15 copay. I would recommend this for fast Covid-19 testing. read more

I walked into Richmond Urgent Care after feeling sick for a few days , and since Patient First will no longer accept my insurance at this time, this was the closest urgent care to me. My first impression was surprise, as there were no patients waiting to be seen. I expected the need to wait. The reception and waiting areas were small but clean, if not minimalist. I registered and checked in on a bulky tablet which also served as means to pay my copay. During that process, and with no effort at all, I overheard one of the two reception employees call a patient over the phone, address the patient by name, and tell that person that their blood test was ok. That was unprofessional. Right after I finished checking in, one of the two employees took me to a room to get my vitals. They are not working with any sophisticated equipment and the young lady admitted she did not like their blood pressure reader. Since I was there with cold and flu symptoms, I was surprised not being asked if I had gotten a flu shot, and no flu test was performed. After the vitals, I was taken to an exam room. Again, minimalist, a carpeted room with a small cabinet, no sink, but a TV to watch while waiting. Considering the absence of other patients, I was hoping to not have much of a wait, but I did have some wait time before the doctor came in. She did a strep test, but no flu test. She wrote a script for an antibiotic but wanted me to wait a few days to see if this illness passes because if it is a virus it will go away without antibiotics. So no blood test, no flu test, a negative strep test. There must be a reason why there were no patients there, when I left there still were no other patients. I am not sure I would return here, probably I would only if I pretty much knew what was wrong with me, but if I was injured or had a mystery illness, I would not. I give this a reluctant 3 star due to convenience, accepting my insurance, and that I was given a script for the antibiotics I told the doctor usually wipes out a sinus infection for me. read more

Got injured playing basketball at the Y. Thankfully it turned out to just be a finger sprain. I was really worried about it being something else. I have had a history of sports injuries with 3 ACL surgeries, a torn labrum surgery, a dislocated finger and several broken bones. They saw me quickly, were experienced, and made me feel at ease. Really wanted to love this place. Close to my home, seemed friendly when I called, front desk receptionist was kind. Non Covid related visit....no weight, blood pressure or anything taken. Muscle relaxers and could not get a follow up. Hard to get in touch with and problem not solved. According to Ortho "muscle relaxers were not going to touch this!". Ortho on call was able to provide correct meds (not pain meds) and physical therapist recommendation. Was hoping to have Richmond urgent care for future issues (4 kids and a husband!) but I wouldn't go back. read more

My husband was being treated for strep throat so when I woke up on a Saturday morning with a sudden sore throat and headache, I decided not to wait until Monday to see my regular doctor and thought it best to head to the closest doc-in-the-box to get a diagnosis. At reception, I was given a tablet for registration information. Even with a couple of others in front of me, I was taken back into an exam room fairly soon, vitals taken and seen by the physician. I was correct in that I did have strep throat (confirmed by a swab test) and was given the proper prescription, instructions on what to do if there was not improvement within 72 hours, and sent on my way in well under an hour. read more

I went to the UC for a COVID test after traveling recently (no symptoms) just to be safe. I was told they would call me in two days with results. I did not receive a phone call so I called them and asked about my results. A woman answered the phone, clearly sounded a bit confused, put me on hold and came back telling me my test results were negative. I asked for a some sort of test result documentation to be emailed to me and she said I would receive it shortly. I never received the email, so I called back 7 hours later. Someone different answered the phone and told me that I had not gotten a call because my results had just come in 3 hours ago and that they were negative. I was then told I could not have the results emailed to me. I'm not sure they have a clue what's going on there. read more

I went today 12/22/21 to be tested for Covid, there was a line of cars down the street to get into the parking lot. Once I was finally able to get in I seen they had no system to even track who had gotten first, they were walking up to cars and testing all out of order. The gentleman did not have on proper PPE and would give you supplies and test you with the same glove on that he had tested several cars coming up to you. He did not properly label your test once he took it back. I was told that I would have been getting a call today with my rapid test results and I have not heard any back. Not a very professional testing center at all. read more

Don't waste your time or money!!! I went to urgent care about a month ago with severe back pain. After I explained to Dr Mustafa where the pain was and the intensity, he poked my back in a few spots and said that I just had muscle spasms and not sciatica, like I thought. He offered me a pain shot, a prescription for Vicodin and nothing else, no other information. After two days the pain was still intense and my prescription was running out. (He prescribed 1 pill, 4 times a day and only gave me 10 pills). I went back to see him and he offered another shot and gave me another prescription exactly like the first one. I asked if there was something i could do to help the pain and if there were stretches I could do to help, he told me to google "back pain stretches", he couldn't even take a minute to explain a stretch that would help. I ended up going to another doctor the next day because the pain was still intense and I could barely move. It turns out I had a serious back injury. I had 3 herniated discs as wells as sciatica. I feel that Dr Mustafa is a dangerous uncaring doctor. He is a hack, that is why there is no wait! Stay far away from this place! read more

Wasn't feeling well for most of the week, chills, cough, runny nose, aches but no fever. My bfs daughter was diagnosed with strep earlier in the week so I wasn't taking any chances. Since I don't have a GP in Richmond (yea, I know I should get on that) I headed to Richmond Urgent Care since it was close to home. Let me start with the positives. There was really no wait for a Thursday afternoon and they have tablets for new patients to fill out their information. (Nice paper saver!) You can even pay your co-pay on it. The room was clean though very bare for the space. The sink was as far from the exam table as it could get. There was no art work, and not really any supplies in the room. When the nurse took my temperature the machine took FOREVER to beep that it was done. Also even though she covered the thermometer with the little plastic thing, when she was done there was no trashcan nearby to eject it into so she held it in her hand (no gloves) to walk to the one on the other side of the room. That's just ewwwww, what if I was really sick?? I hope to god she washed her hands when she left! The nurse came back to swab my throat for a strep test. (Gloves this time!) She asked me to stick my tongue out and down, so what did I do? Pointed my tongue to the floor of course. Apparently this is not what she meant since she kept saying "I need you to put your tongue down". I didn't start to get annoyed until she condescendingly asked if she needed to get a tongue depressor. I told her as far as I could tell my tongue was down. If it wasn't where she needed it to be I was sorry but I can't do much more. Since she'd barely gotten the swab in my throat and was trying to make another pass I sort of assumed when she left the room it was so that she could get a depressor. Well she never came back and about 20 minutes later the MD finally came in. First this out of his mouth was the test came back negative. I had to stop him and explain that I didn't think the nurse had even gotten a good swab. So he wanted to re-test me. I can appreciate that redoing the test means more supplies but I was glad they wanted to be sure. Now the MD was not wearing gloves when he did the swab! I'm not really sure what's going on at this place. He looked in my ears, mouth and listened to my breathing while the second test ran. Again negative. Though he wrote me a Rx for an antibiotic I have no clue what exactly my diagnosis is. I was told because my throat "was red" I automatically was being prescribed the meds. Is it the flu? a cold? Bronchitis? Even though this place was quick and convenient at the time, I'd much more prefer to know what's wrong when I leave the doctors office next time. read more

We took our 9 month old to urgent care on 9/28 after she'd had a fever for a few days with no explanation. The check-in process was quick and easy, and since we were the only people there we went back immediately. After looking her over and checking for flu and strep we still didn't have an answer. The doctor was wonderful and genuinely seemed to care about making her better instead of just pushing us out the door. He spent a lot of time observing our daughter and trying to figure out what to do. We settled on alternating medication to keep the fever down and then going to the pediatrician the next day. He calculated the doses for each medication and wrote us a prescription for amoxicillin in case we needed it (we didn't). Happy to say her fever was gone the next day and she's now doing fine. Going to this urgent care really put our minds at ease, everybody working helped us a lot! read more

Last year, I began to suddenly have nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea. I went to my university's clinic and did not get a solid answer on what was going on. I came here and saw Dr. Mustafa (the wife of Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa) and she was able to tell me using an ultra-sound that I have ovarian cysts and most likely appendicitis. She told me to immediately go to the ER. I am extremely thankful to her because otherwise I may have gone on longer without knowing I needed emergency surgery to remove my appendix! read more

Everyone needs to know this place is horrible and they violated my patients rights they lied and scammed me on my insurance and I heard one of the nurses over the phone that didn't hang up the phone correctly talked trash about me and lied about after I confronted her about it and one of the doctors lied about take me as my primary care physician after the two weeks I signed the paperwork and I was told to come back and was denied after having done their new patient process and I've been their twice and they took my insurance and lying about they don't take it which they did twice that only take anthem which is a bullshit they threatened to call the police on me because when I was confronting them on their wrong doings the doctor and the staff did and I'm a person with disability and they wronged me which I believe is malpractice abandonment of a new patient especially being disabled I wouldn't go to this urgent care place they are horrible people this urgent care is not what it seems and I swear on the Bible itself that everything is about what described this place is true and you can't lie to god read more

I visited this Urgent Care center after a freak accident at work which caused a hand injury. I was in pain, but not bleeding profusely, so I believed this would be a more efficient choice than visiting an Emergency Room. I was extremely satisfied with the care I received- my hand was x-rayed, I got temporary stitches pending a follow up with a hand surgeon via their referral, & prescriptions. The doctor was caring and knowledgeable. I have visited them in the past for other issues such as sinus infections, and the doctors are always helpful. read more

Waited for an hour for blood work and yet didn't see doctor despite telling I have another appointment. The nurse was confused on what kind of blood work to be done. Didn't know what she was talking. Not to mention the place is super dirty. The tables have never been cleaned and the floor in the Dr's room looks like never cleaned. Would never come here and would not recommend. Also they took another patient who did not have any appointment and he was complaining that there had been no change even after seeing the doctor last time. Very very unprofessional. Waste of time. This place was a HUGE blessing! My little girl was complaining of a terrible pain in her left ear. After picking her up from school early, I planned to take her to her usual pediatrician...however the office was closed that afternoon due to a holiday party. It was a Friday..the weekend approaching. I needed someplace close, convenient, and preferably a group that would have a pediatrician on staff! Bingo! Richmond Urgent Care (Parham Rd, Richmond VA) was all that. The co-pay was the same I would have paid at my daughter's primary care group. My daughter was seen almost immediately. The staff was patient, tender and genuinely wanted to make her feel better. The prescribed treatment of action was on target and worked like a charm! A follow-up visit was expected, there was no co-pay and I did not have to make an appointment...just come in that following Monday at our convenience. Once again, my daughter was seen almost immediately (no paper work check-in needed this time) and we were provided a doctor's note to excuse her absence and to return to school. Well the doctor, khaled moustafa md, was about to start a very simple procedure today, he thankfully put surgical gloves on but then much to my surprise he reach down and open up the wood to the trashcan while we're in the surgical gloves. I was confused but didn't say anything yet and watched him do that a second time. At this point in time I asked him why he is wearing the gloves and open up the trashcan instead of using the foot pedestal to open the trashcan. He looked at me with the stain and questioned why I would ask him such a thing. He blew us off like it was no big deal. To me someone who supposed to have a medical license and be a professional should know better than to do something as foolish as opening a dirty nasty trashcan lid while wearing surgical gloves that is about to use on a patient. The fact that this man is in business the fact of this man has a medical license is a palling he needs to be investigated and I hope no one ever has to do with him read more

Was lectured by an employee about co-payments. I've hit my max out of pocket for the year and know my benefits completely. Never got to see a doctor as the front office staff insisted on a co-payment which I did not owe. The girl at the desk was rude and condescending. For an urgent care facility, they should have been sued for malpractice for not letting me see a doctor simply because their desk clerk doesn't fully understand insurance. I would also suggest that I believe she was racist in her handling as she seemed to have a different attitude towards others of the same race as herself. read more

I went to Richmond Urgent Care to address a broken toe that wasn't healing. The nurses seem inadequately trained - the doctor had to show them how to take xrays, they weren't sure how to work the computer system, etc. I waited about an hour to be seen. The doctor was great, I'd use him as my primary care physician if I could. I would go back to Richmond Urgent Care if absolutely necessary but certainly would avoid if possible. read more

Horrible place. I was the only person in the lobby at opening took almost 1 hr to be seen. When pulled back to be seen the Assistant didn't seem to be to pleased to be at work. Here for a walk in physical and the doctor just listened and touched my abdomen and said I was ok. I'm a nurse and I know this was an incomplete physical. Will wait next time to see primary care instead. Also, phone lines stay busy and the staff are very poor at handling administrative task such as sending over medical records. read more

I came here not knowing what urgent care to visit due to being from out of town and had a short list of what places were covered under my insurance. There was no wait at all. Had to fill out personal info on an electronic pad which kept freezing on me and it was kind of a pain to do. I could of filled out the info on paper and would have been done in half the time. I got seen immediately by the nurse taking my vitals then was put in a room to wait for a doctor. The decor of the place was very outdated and after reading the reviews I was skeptical. The doctor came in 15 minutes later, she asked what my symptoms were and I told her I've had this before and that I usually get a steroid shot and antibiotics to get better. She was very nice and listened to what I was saying and went ahead and have me exactly what I needed. Got the steroid shot and 2 kinds of antibiotics and was good to go. Was in and out of there within 45 minutes. This place was a little strange but the doctor was great and I got the care that I needed. read more

I just saw the news about the doctor at Richmond Urgent Care in the West End. I recently took my 1 year old to that office for a case of strep throat. I feel badly for this doctor that his alleged mistakes may cost him his medical practice. Our country is so quick to punish people and/or sue them without thinking of the big picture. I am a special educator and can work in public schools with an expired teaching license, often having to make paperwork and dates match up so the school system doesn't get sued. Our healthcare and educational systems in this country are clearly lacking if you look at the conditions of our society and communities, especially poor and disabled people that don't have healthcare & educational opportunities. I will bring my daughter back to that doctor's office if she needs medical attention again and won't punish anyone even if he did make some mistakes a couple years ago. He deserves to keep his medical practice and I'm sure is learning from this experience. He was very nice when we met him and seems like a good man. The doctor that performed the strep test and prescribed my child's antibiotic was also very professional and followed up with me. These are the kinds of people that I feel comfortable with because they are human and clearly are doing their best to offer their expertise and services to people that need help medically. First I'd like to mention there were dead flies in the window of the "examination" room. I came in with complaints of disabling fatigue, blood in my sputum and body aches all over. The doctor I saw checked my ears and nose, listened to me breathe and then diagnosed me with bronchitis and wrote a prescription for a z pack. Didn't even consider taking a urinalysis to look at my white blood cell levels, and of course she took no blood samples. Thanks to my intense paranoia, I went .2 miles up the road to Patient First where the first thing done was take my blood. It was quickly determined I likely had pneumonia, and confirmed with X Rays. If it weren't for my own skepticism I likely would've ended up hospitalized due to the malpractice and negligence of Richmond Urgent Care. It's incredibly dangerous to prescribe a z pack to a patient with no preliminary testing, let alone completely misdiagnose someone and further deprive them of the right treatment. **I did receive a response to my complaint, the Urgent Care center refunded my copay and told me to come back in three days for a free check up with them where they would offer X Rays and blood work at no cost. So clearly they know they screwed up and are backpedaling to cover their own reputation. read more

My daughter stepped on a rusty nail and after going by Patient First and seeing a line out the door I drove back home and saw Richmond Urgent Care. I asked the receptionist if this was something that we needed to be seen right away for or could we wait until the next day and go to our pediatrician. I was told that she needed to be seen and that 'time was of the essence when needing a tetanus shot'. I paid the copay and we got put into a room. The same receptionist brought in a bucket of soapy water and told my daughter to soak her foot. 30 minutes later a female doctor came in, told me that she didn't need a shot or an antibiotic and asked if the puncture wound needed stitches or dressing. I told her since she was the doctor, maybe she should take a look at the wound. She touched my daughter's foot with one finger, put ointment on it and a bandaid and told me to see the pediatrician tomorrow morning. I asked her immediately for a refund, that this was fraud. I was talked into seeing someone that night, and that my daughter needed a tetanus shot, and nothing happened. She told me that since my daughter was seen by two doctor's it qualifies for a valid visit. I asked who the other doctor was since she was the only one who looked at my daughter's foot. Oh, the receptionist is a DOCTOR!?!??! He told me she definitely needed a shot, however the woman doctor said no. They should not be practicing medicine, and I will do all I can to see that they don't anymore. I will be placing a formal complaint to the medical board of Virginia. I have also put in a formal fraud claim through Cigna and there is now an investigation for this facility. We followed up the next morning with the pediatrician and my daughter's foot was infected, she had to get put on an antibiotic and needed a tetanus shot. DON'T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!! read more
