And that's coming from someone with both a pronounced sweet tooth and a well-earned reputation as a food connoisseur. It alone nearly justifies the visit. Charming little Christmas Village along the water in Baltimore. Went on a Saturday evening, it was predictably packed with people. But the holiday music and the twinkling lights made it feel like I was living Silver Bells. Wandering among the stalls of thw outdoor market, there are a disproportionate number selling jewelry, but there are cool things to be found, like Bigfoot socks, and cool hats. To enter the indoor sale tent, you have to buy a $5 "season ticket," which seems odd. But inside that tent is the large Kathe Wolfhardt store with cute German Christmas decor. I bought ornaments and a blown glass tree. My biggest issue was that the signage for the village food options were not well lit. We went with the intent of eating giant soft pretzels and apparently the entire festival was sold out. I did greatly enjoy my raclette sandwich, hot chocolate with Bailey's in an adorable boot mug, and some grilled sausage. The process of ordering abd paying, them waiting a while to get my food order was frustrating but expected. This was a nice way to be filled with some holiday spirit. read more

The Christmas Village is a yearly staple! I love to stop by at least once and walk around looking at the various vendors, food stalls, and lights. I think the essence of the village is so sweet and full of spirit, such a fun annual feature to have in the city. This was my first year actually trying the hot chocolate and it really is delicious! Really rich, comes with marshmallows, and HOT (that makes sense but just a warning that you might burn your tongue lightly if you're not careful). The vendors can be a little pricey and the covered part of the market requires an entry fee, at least on the weekends, but I thinks it's worth the visit, especially if you make a plan of it and make another stop in the area. read more

If you're close, it's worth visiting. Driving just under an hour with traffic from D.C., I wouldn't make the drive again only because the Downtown DC Holiday Market has almost twice more vendors. However, the Christmas Village in Baltimore is more spread out within the Inner Harbor and way less crowded. They have a variety of vendors in wooden huts and food options like raclette and gluwein. read more

I really enjoy coming here every year! It's very touristy and kitschy. There are long lines for the good stuff, hot cocoa and alcohol. But it's worth the wait. There so many shops to look at, and there's a ticket that's 5$ to go inside to the interior market and it's so worth it! Visiting the Christmas market is a family tradition. We prefer to go earlier in the afternoon, as the evenings are kind of crazy and not different enough to warrant the craziness. While food lines can be (very) long, the options are fun and pretty good. We've only opted for drinks once, mostly because of the long lines. The real stars, though, are the vendors. There is so much creativity in this small space. We love supporting the various vendors, and we always find what we didn't know we were looking for. You can warm up in the building (entry is a small fee), and there are more vendors in there. The highlight is the Christmas store way in the back of the building. Again, this can get pretty crowded, so put your patient pants on and just enjoy the vibes. We've visited the NYC Christmas market and actually prefer Baltimore's. read more

I stumbled on an IG Post and decided to go while visiting. We went in Christmas Eve in the afternoon. They had an ice skating rink and plenty of vendors. I had some hot chocolate with a souvenir mug and a funnel cakes. There were really nice vendors that sold unique gifts. I opted to buy a candle from State of Being. We parked at Lockwood Parking Garage (a couple of blocks up from the Harbor) and spent $25. I think we were there less than 2 hours. read more

We come to this market every year. It's honestly way better than the ones in DC, and a bit more close to what you find in various European countries this time of year. The smaller craft shops are a great place to find unique gifts, but also the food shops are a must. Definitely come with an appetite! I love Christmas villages! This one has everything you could dream in a Bavarian Christmas village. However, it is just SO crowded. Crowded to the point of misery. All of the food lines were 20-30 minute minimum. Forget the line for the warm alcoholic drinks. Those were easily over an hour long line. Not to mention they ran out of pretzels at the German Christmas village. RAN OUT! The few things I did get where great. My kids loved building their own popcorn candy bowl. I enjoyed the mini donuts. I've been going to the Christmas village since 2021 - and every year it gets a little bit bigger. This past year in 2024 they had a corporate partnership with Chase and it was really cool to get some of the most popular food items 50% off. This past season I only went twice, but it's always such a good time. This is actually an authentic German market - half of the workers literally come from Germany to set this up and operate it for a month. They also do a decent job of adding in local craft makers. During the week, the main tent area is free (honestly it's not worth paying the entry fee in my opinion) they have ornaments from Kathe Wohlfahrt - but it's a bit expensive and not that special. My favorite part is walking around, grabbing some Belgian fries and the bratwurst and the mulled wine. There is parking that they will validate for two hours, but check on the website because I tend to walk as I live in the city. Honestly, I think the Christmas village is such a good use of the space and a fun holiday tradition in the city. read more

The lines were extremely long for food and the food was over priced. I liked the hand cut fries the best. They were crispy on the outside and thick. The truffle mayo dipping sauce was also good. Would recommend it. The bratwurst was just average and not worth the price. I had a raclette sandwich for the first time here and I enjoyed it! Definitely recommend getting one with cornichons. Unfortunately I felt that it was very over priced. Like $17 for a small sandwich that won't even fill you up. The non food stalls were fun but like your typical farmers market vendors. I highly recommend visiting this event with friends and family! Most vendors are accessible without purchasing the $5 ticket to the tented area, which houses a handful of additional vendors. I didn't go inside, so I can't comment on what's there. The bratwurst stand is a must-visit. I tried the spicy brat, and it was honestly one of the best brat and sauerkraut combos I've had outside of Germany. It wasnt spicy in my opinion but seasoned deliciously. I also recommend ordering the side of stone-ground mustard instead of the American mustard--it's so much better than our highlighter-colored version! The warm eggnog was perfect for the chilly weather. The event is pet-friendly, but I wouldn't recommend bringing a small dog and letting them walk on the ground with all the foot traffic. This was such a great experience! My friends and I made this our Sunday spot for our girls weekend, and it was great. The variety of food items, authenticity of the German-based ambiance (including the super cold weather), and the hot Christmas-themed drinks truly were a treat. Finally made it to the Christmas Village in Baltimore. Located in the Inner Harbor area near where the harbor cruises leave from. I went on a chilly Sunday evening two weeks before Christmas so it was packed. For a quieter experience, go during the day on a weekday. I'm not complaining as everyone was in a fun mood, but just be aware you'll be waiting for a while for food/drinks if you go on the weekends. The vendors are located in little buildings scattered around the area. I've seen some of the same vendors at the DC holiday markets. There is a heated tent type structure that has drinks/food available in a beer garden type environment, but you had to pay admission to get into that so I didn't wait in that line. Baltimore happily serves alcohol at its Christmas Village which makes more like thr Christmas Markets in Europe. They have hot chocolate, coffee, and cider. You can get these with alcohol or without. They also have hot gluhwein which would fit right in in Europe. Mmm. You have your choice of getting your hot drink in a regular paper cup or two different style of mugs with the Baltimore Christmas Village motif on them. This year, one is a regular mug, the other looks like a shoe. The gluhwein hit the spot on a chilly night. There are also several fair food type vendors around if you're looking for fried Oreos, fried dough etc. The Village itself is free to get into, only the heated tent area required paying admission. An open area full of small shops and foods. For parking, there is not much space if you will park with the given parking in front of the event place. We went to nearby parking area and walk to the event. For the village, it is free to go around the area but there is an area where you have to pay $5 to get in and roam around. I can't tell much since we didn't do it. The place isn't that big but still has a lot of things happening. For food, it is okay food. I wouldn't say this is the food you will taste in Europe nor closed maybe with the beer. But the fries, wurst, and hot chocolate - it's subpar. But the food are still okay. You can also enjoy some drinks mixed in cocktails and liquor. They have other more food that we didn't care to try like crepe, schnitzel, bacon on a stick, pretzel, corn, and maybe there's more. There are few food prices that unreasonably priced - like the corn. But big factor probably is how much they have to pay for the booth. Overall it is still a nice experience. read more

This is our second year attending this event. We absolutely love it and it seems to signal the start of our holiday season. The hot chocolate is always amazing and you can get it adult-style at either the Winter Wunder Bar or inside the tent area. Although there are only a few Christmas trees, they are amazing. I feel like Baltimore really needs a much larger area so that a lot more businesses can participate in showing off their Christmas trees. We absolutely love them! There are so many photo ops setup especially being right on the Inner Harbor. I was able to see people buying those amazing milkshakes and wish I took a pic. They look great! Everybody is so friendly and enjoys being there. There are so many vendors to shop at including those from different countries and right here in Baltimore. Came here on what must have been one of the coldest nights in Baltimore so far this year. We walked over from the parking garage (make sure you check to see which ones offer parking validation; the one we chose did) and headed into the event. The Christmas Village is free to enter you have to pay for everything else. They have expanded the village from last year adding more vendors, which was nice. We headed to the bratwurst kiosk and got a traditional with sauerkraut and it was good. We then headed over the Belgium fries kiosk for an order and they were good as well. Crispy on the outside and fluffy potato-ey goodness inside. It was really cold so to warm me up, I got a spiked hot chocolate with whipped cream and used my Christmas Village mig from last year. It was warm and delicious! We ended our food run with the bacon on a stick, which was a skewer of pork goodness slathered in a wonderful glaze made of maple Chesapeake! We were glad the tent was heated and ventured inside for warmth and to see what vendors were there. We did purchase some body oil and candles (they smelled wonderful) from a local Ellicott City vendor. There was the melty cheese wheel, German beer, German potatoes and snitzel, various mulled wines and cider and of course a ferris wheel and merry-go-round for the youngsters or those who are young at heart. The only issue I had was the influx of folks bringing their dogs. There was even a dog showdown, but luckily the owners were steadfast in securing their pets. I think it would be good for future events to ban dogs as they can potentially be a hazard, especially for children who may walk up to them to pet. All in all, a great seasonal event for families and all to come and enjoy. read more

Obviously, the closer to you come to the holidays, the crazier it's gonna be. While the garage is the most convenient, it gets pricey, and street parking was... tough haha. I parked several blocks away, but I was still able to find some! I showed up pretty close to the start time to meet up with some friends, and whew it was already crowded! The only bathrooms are porter potties, and there was already a line, WHOA! I looked for my friends and easily found them once they took a pic of the iconic structure right in the middle of the market. I was quickly browsing vendors as I went, observing various food and gifts to buy. From puzzles to knick knacks, the options seemed cool. Reconnected with my friends for a lengthy line of grabbing drinks -- they wanted to get a bottle, but they ran out sadly. I got hot cocoa in a boot mug that I got to keep... delightful! The food options weren't so veggie-friendly -- lots of bratwurst, bacon, and more. Shout out to the one crepe station. There was a big tent that you had to pay $5 to get in to see even more options, vendors, and all. You only have to pay once, and gotta make sure you keep your ticket for the rest of the season. Getting inside was nice since it was no longer freezing, but it was pretty jampacked. The entertainment on stage was great for the kids, and the additional lines for food and drinks (though they also ran out of the bottles) were nice to have... but really it just felt like it wasn't adding much to what was already outside. There was an artist and hot sauce / oils vendor I was obsessed with, but otherwise didn't necessarily seem worth it. Overall, it's great for getting into the holiday spirit, but... it's a lot, haha. I think the experience is worth having ! There are several local vendors servicing food, mosaic lights , vinyls , body butters , jewelry , and so much more. The prices are pretty average for what you would get for something handmade or super unique and everyone seemed to be happy. There's beer , hot chocolate(spiked and regular ) , brats, pretzels and so much more. We had a great time walking around even though it was super cold. I was most excited for the donuts sadly a Yelp group came and they pushed all the other customers to the back and serviced the elite. Cute German inspired Christmas market. There are several little wooden huts where artisans and vendors display their goods. A small ferris wheel and merry-go-round are five dollars per ride. There is also and ice rink. Besides shopping they offer several stands where you can purchase spiced wine, hot cocoa and coffee. If you want you beverage with alcohol, you are required to purchase a commemorative ceramic cup. There are also several food venders. For another five dollars you can access a heated tent. Here you can purchase event ornaments, visit Kathy Wohlfahrts Christmas store as well as many other vendors, purchase a Hof brau German beer and food. A local author read his work from a small stage as well as Christmas classics. We spent about an hour looking around. Bought a few things, ate wurst and enjoyed the holiday ambiance. read more

It's definitely an experience but maybe not one that everyone wants. I think this market has been glamorized online and it's not what it appears to be. I went during the day and not only was it beyond crowded with people who have no situational awareness, the "shops" are so incredibly small. That's unfortunate because some of the shops have items worth shopping for, but when only 2-3 people can fit in at a time it's not doable. The shops and food areas are also not accessible for those with disabilities. I didn't see any that had ramps. The shops and food stands you have to step up onto, and are narrow so sometimes you step off to the ground to walk around. read more

A fun holiday market with shops, a few rides, and food and drink. It was a bit smaller than I thought and the booths were a little spread out. You'll definitely have to wait in line for food-- we opted for the place with schnitzel and latkes. They ran out of a few things (German pretzels and cheese dip) by 2pm even though they had just opened at noon which was surprising. The schnitzel was a bit dry and it was small, but the latkes were nice. You can walk around with your hot beverages while perusing the shops which is nice. There's an indoor tented area that is $5 to enter with additional shops and there was a band playing Christmas a bit off-key inside. You can also get the official mugs and souvenirs from the market. I came here twice (this year being my first in going), and both were enjoyable to an extent. The first time I arrived a little late so my experience was a bit lacking and not much to speak on since I only stayed for 20 minutes, but the second time was a bit similar when it came to lacking. I will say, one shouldn't get here an hour in a half before they close on a Sunday night. Food vendors ran out of stuff that I really wanted, wait times were quite the wait, and certain things seemed a bit overpriced for the quality received. I shouldn't have had HIGH expectations, but at the same time the way it was hyped on TikTok made it seem like it was going to be a good experience. It's a cute idea for a date in a way, especially for pictures, but other than that it was just alright. May return again next year.. Side note: the Maple Cheseapeake bacon was absolutely delicious and would literally go back for that. I also tried samples of the Honey Teas and they were absolutely delicious. We went last night, and were able to find free street parking on a Saturday night that was about a 7 minute walk away. There was a lot to see at the village. I would highly recommend paying the $5 to go into the inside section. On the outside section, we got the white Gluhwein. It tasted liked cooked wine. I grew to really enjoy it but my friend that had it didn't like it. It wasn't like warm when I received it, and I was disappointed because I wanted something hot. However, I ended up liking it even better the more it cooled down. It came in these really cute Christmas boots. We also tried the hot sauces at the bacon stand and my favorite was the pickle flavored one. It was mild. We of course tried the mango habanero bacon on a stick and the vanilla cream one. My friend loved the vanilla cream one and I loved the mango one. They both were sweet and salty and good depths of flavor. I felt like the mango one had some of that maple flavoring too it to and it was not really spicy at all. We went inside the market and the sold bratwursts, hot chocolate, gluwhein, etc., but the lines were pretty short and they had more interesting flavor if the bratwurst the the outside vendor. There were a bunch of cute shops. One was selling drink coasters with different musican and and historical figures. Cane Collective was selling drink mixers and every flavor was top notch. I ended up getting the passion fruit jalapeño( you couldn't taste the spice of the jalapeño). My friend was obsessed with the chai flavoring. There was a Greek store that sold various sauces and la well as hand oils and creams. There was a corner where they were selling games and puzzles. You can sit down and take some time playing them. It was really great. They had a lot of unique ornaments and jewelry shops. Once we came out we were hungry again so wanted more food. My friend ordered potato lattakes, and needed a little more flavor and tasted very oily to me. I decided to go to the German Cheese sandwich place. I wasn't acclimated to the smell, so it was strong for me. I ordered the salami sandwich with the toppings. It was about 5 inc sandwich, with two thin pieces of salami and the cheese. I was a little disappointed because I though I would really be able to taste the cheese and have that gooey cheese effect, but I mostly only tasted the break and the toppings (it tasted like horseradish to me. I scraped the cheese from the paper wrapping to see what it tasted like and it reminded me of melted asiago. I'm glad I tried it but would probably skip it and try the wursts next year. The Christmas Village in Baltimore is very cute and I'm glad I checked it out. I wouldn't recommend a special trip for it, but if you include in other activities, it's a nice addition to a day in Baltimore. Drinks and food were good. We got the mulled wine and nice commemorative cup. We enjoyed our schnitzel and latkes. There are some interesting outdoor vendors. We paid $5 each to enter the indoor portion. We didn't stay inside long but if you are into the performances or beautiful Christmas decorations, definitely go inside. Of all the German Christmas-themed markets I've visited this season, this one in Baltimore was best at incorporating German imagery backed by classic German food like the iconic sausage stand. Despite it being a busy day, I was thankful it was relatively easy to navigate the crowd with small children because of the wide walking lanes and adequate standing space between shops. I wouldn't necessarily say the Christmas Village in Baltimore is worth the trip if you live in a major city that has its own Christmas Village (because they're all virtually the same), however, it is a good one-time experience especially at night for a date night or evening with friends. There is also a ferris wheel and funnel cake stand on the grounds which are an added attraction. NOTE: the hot chocolate stands and food lines generally have long lines, so plan accordingly. All of shops were typical of what one could expect to see at a Baltimore festival, just wish that i didn't have to quit early due to the cold. Traveled from DC to visit the German Christmas market. Really enjoyed my bratwurst (however fairly disappointed that they didn't have any German mustard to go on it). Also tried a hot chocolate with Bailey's and that was good too. The issue was crowded, extremely long lines - many times you weren't 100% certain what you were in line for. I would say they need to add more vendors, space the vendors out a bit more to help with weekend lines and could even stand to add a second heated tent to help with the massive crowding. Another thing was a lack of "quality" with some vendors (i.e., Christmas ornaments really looked like products that were made in China, jewelry vendors sold overpriced cheap items). PS parking is also insane - takes time to find imo, just be patient. read more

A cute set up for the holiday season. There are several food stations, an indoor area for more shopping and food, and an ice rink. We went on a Friday which seemed to be less crazy. The hot cocoa is always a draw and was great but we found the food to just be ok. Pricey for smaller portions. read more

The village was very similar to other set ups (Bryant Park for example) but had the added ambience of the area. There were plenty of places to stroll around or sit, an ice skating rink nearby, and plenty of food stalls. The mulled cider was appreciated through the rain, and the mug is built into the price which was a nice bonus. I wouldn't travel just to see the market, but it's a nice time if you're in the area. read more

I recently visited the German Christmas Market in Baltimore, hoping to enjoy some festive charm and authentic German vibes. As expected, since it's in the Harbor area, you're going to have to park in one of the nearby garages. It wasn't too bad though. I parked on the second level, which gave me an easy walk across the bridge and right into the market. While the parking wasn't a major issue, I can see it being more of a hassle during peak times. The location is very accessible, but when you factor in the parking fees, it starts to feel a bit like a trade-off. As for the market itself, the ambiance didn't quite match the picturesque photos I'd seen online. Yes, there were some charming decorations and a few nods to German culture, but overall, it felt much more like a crowded outdoor flea market than a true German festival. The area was packed with visitors, making it difficult to navigate and enjoy the space comfortably, especially with the cold weather. The market had an indoor-outdoor vibe, but it didn't have the cozy, festive spirit that I had hoped for. In terms of food, the offerings were limited and didn't live up to expectations. They had schnitzel, which was just one type--pork, with sausage and sauerkraut. That was it. I expected a wider variety of German dishes, but unfortunately, most of the food choices were more along the lines of fast food--like fried French fries. The food vendors were also not German, which isn't necessarily an issue, but it did contribute to the lack of authenticity. The drinks were decent enough, with beer, hot chocolate, and other warm beverages available, which helped take the edge off the cold. Inside the tent, there were plenty of trinkets and knickknacks for sale, but it all felt more like a flea market than a German holiday market. The space was cramped, and the items for sale didn't have much of a unique or festive appeal. Overall, I was underwhelmed by the whole experience. The combination of the parking fees, the sparse offerings, and the overcrowded atmosphere just didn't make it feel like a special event. If you're into flea markets and random trinkets, maybe you'll enjoy it, but I personally didn't find it worth the time or money.
