    Chambord tasting
    Sha T.

An artistry and food hub on one of the cities main arteries... If you're looking for one of a kind events, great food and unique sights, Motorhouse is for you. Recently visited on a Friday for one of their happy hrs. Who knew they'd also have a tasting sponsored by Chambord. While here I visually took in the awesome works of Ernest Shaw and had great bites by the Empanada Lady! I had the 3 empanadas, 2 sides and dessert combo. Well worth it. I ordered the pork, chicken and crab. These things are huge! Very crispy, chewy, savory and packed! All flavors distinctly unique. By far my 2 faves were the crab and chicken! The 2 sides I got was the beans and rice and plantain! Yum! I was definitely so stuffed, I did not eat the dessert that came with the combo. Also while here I had several delicious chambord and whiskey margarita inspired drinks while I danced to the tunes of DJ BriMafia. The bartenders here know their drinks and flavors. They also have a heavy pour, So no weak dranks here! Even got the chance to grace The Motorhouse Insta feed while in the iconic Graffiti Alley! I will definitely be back on a Friday. It was a very great vibe! SYOY!

Sat at the bar here while waiting for my food. Bartender was friendly and helpful. Noticed that they had mocktails on the menu so I ordered both. The 410 Ear Muffs was ok. I asked for ginger beer to be added & it tasted better. With the ginger beer it tasted like a flavored ginger ale. The 443 Trench Coat was my favorite of the two. It tasted like the stronger version of a ginger ale. I love ginger so it was great for me. I would come back to try their cocktails.

Perfect for a date night or if you want to laugh at local talent and others working it out. (106.7KRIS)

Literally there is entertainment or a community event every night of the week. Comedy, music, painting, dance, poetry, or artist mixers happen here. The space is unique and deceivingly large. This is the jewel of North Avenue. The bar is a vibe and will get you right before watching or performing in one of the stage areas. The staff builds community and is always friendly. There is rotating art on the walls and a collection of license plates from across the country. Furthermore, the programming supports and connects the community in many disciplines. I've always felt welcome and proud to showcase my art and passion.

THE EMPANADA LADY So The Empanada Lady is located in Motor House showroom bar and the food is amazing! I've been coming here for a couple months now and I've never been disappointed. I've tried the pork and the beef empanadas but the beef is my favorite. It's sooo flavorful and has the perfect crunch. The plantains are alwayssss so good. I usually order two extra sides of it!! I found her on IG and I'm so glad that I did. The Showroom also has open mic/comedy on Wednesday I believe. I definitely want to check that out too while eating some good food!

Awesome eclectic spot for brunch on a Saturday. I was invited out to the Blacksmith's brunch by a friend. I have neVer been Herrera before so didn't know what to expect. They only do the brunch on Saturdays. Looks like they have many other types of events there at different times. My review with be on the brunch experience. Parking is at a premium so you will have to search to find some street parking. I lucked up and found a spot on Nordh Ave just a few minutes walk away. The decor inside is very interesting. There was a full service bar and a live DJ playing music. I ordered a Belgian Waffle and bacon. The bacon was thick cut and the waffle waS delicious. Chef Heather prepared everything fresh. The menus changes from week to week. The most interesting aspect is that Chef Heather will come out and have a conversation with you to make sure you are enjoying your meal. She will explain some of their techniques and ask for your feedback on what she cOukd include on the next weeks menu. The prices wonderful were reasonable. I can't wait to go back again.

After Sunday brunch, my partner took me to see Queens Girl: Black in the Green Mountains. This 1 (wo)man play was highly entertaining and inspiring. It's a story of self-discovery at a time when racial tension & ignorance were at an all time high. We sat front and center but there is no bad seat in the house. Everyman Theatre has been delivering high quality performances over 30 seasons. They have a professional cadre of actors who perform on a regular basis throughout the season. Additionally, community access & engagement are also cornerstones of this theatre. Each play has "pay what you choose" tickets available so finances won't be a problem. Sad, I'm really late to the party. However, Go! Check out a play, take a class, become a sponsor, and donate!!! You will thank me later.

It's about teenage angst, and about aging, too, "akimbo" referring somewhat to an awkward posture. It's not easy to explain the story without giving a lot away. It's funny and also personal. This performance was quite good, by a national troupe on a nation-wide tour. The staging is casual-looking, the acting perfectly real, the dance and singing quite good. We came in large part for the wonderful music: a variety of jazz, folk, and rock, plus more, in a cabaret style. The Hippodrome was easy to drive to on a weekday evening, coming as we did a few blocks east of MLK on Baltimore Ave, or you could drive west from Light Street on Fayette. We love the classic vertical sign and broadway-like marquee, especially when it's glowing at night! The attached garage was super convenient, with elevators direct to the theater lobby, but note: cash isn't accepted for parking. The inside 1914 theater-space is gorgeous! Ornate walls and ceiling, and plush seats. Our seats were pretty comfortable with enough legroom. The Hippodrome presents broadway shows performed by national companies, right here in a lovely theater. In fact, we've seen three so far this year! Who needs New York :-)

The theater is beautiful - very comfortable and intimate - not a bad seat in the house. They have a couple of bars and some seating areas, which made for an enjoyable intermission. My only (very small) complaint about the theater is that it was hard to find the bathrooms, and we waited a while, because the one women's room we found was a single stall bathroom. I think there was a larger women's room somewhere, but we didn't find it! The play was interesting - I'd never seen a theater adaptation of a Jane Austen novel, and the adaptation was interesting and some of the actors were really great. We had a great time. I was surprised to see and learn that not all of the Company's performances are of Shakespeare - later this season, they have August Wilson's Fences (part of the Baltimore August Wilson Celebration), Shakespeare's The Tempest, A Christmas Carol, and Shakespeare's The Tale of Cymbeline (performed outdoors in Ellicott City). I'll happily return for another performance!
