I am a dental hygienist who has seen all kinds of dentistry (quality, cosmetic, and poor quality work). I recently relocated from the Washington DC area to NE TN, in looking for a DDS I went to the LVI web site to see who they recommend. (LVI is a very well esteemed continuing education program for dentists who are very motivated to be the best in what they do including hands on cosmetic training. (This is special because most counting education courses are lectures only)) Dr. Dykes met all my expectations for quality work that was very cosmetically attractive. The doctor was nice, ethical, and spent a quality amount of time perfecting his work. Dr. Dykes answered all questions in a thorough and thoughtful manner. The office was beautiful and state of the art. The staff was fantastic. I am bringing all my family to this practice and will recommend any one who inquires about where to find a GREAT not just a good dentist in this area to Dr. David Dykes and his office. Shortly after the crown, I developed severe pain, was referred for endodontic evaluation, and the tooth was ultimately extracted by another dentist. When I raised concerns and requested review/reimbursement, I received a certified dismissal letter and later a short denial stating the treatment was appropriate. I have transferred care.

I've never been to a dentist that forces additional expenses treatment beyond a standard cleaning. I understand recommending and offering, but forcing patients to pay for hundreds of dollars of services they do not want is unethical. My first appointment I just believed them that I really needed it and paid (I often put off stuff for myself), but my entire family just so happens to also need all this expensive additional service and no option to choose a standard cleaning. I will take my business to a more ethical practice. I've spoken to other practices in town who agree this isn't right.

T hey don't try to "upsell" or do more than is necessary. They have a type of insurance (Smile Club)for those of us with no dental insurance. They radiate trust.
