I went to see Dr. Chang because my primary care wanted me to see a specialist and get their opinion on my issue. He was rude and condescending. He spent maybe 5 minutes with me and made the remark He would give me the name of another ENT for a second opinion and I said that is why I came to his office. Then he made the comment that he could give me four or five names and I could get 4 or 5 opinions! He never once said what his opinion was so I was very bewildered by his smart ass comment about getting multiple opinions. It was a total waste of my time and money. read more

Loved this practice. Reception was excellent: professional, courteous, and discrete. The nurse doing intake had just the right blend of empathy and expertise; I don't think I will forget her kindness. Dr.Chang's approach is no-nonsense: professional and cordial. He wants his patients to get to the root of the problem as quickly as possible, rely on data, and take action but take it easy. The meds he prescribed stared taking effect almost immediately. Quite possibly the rudest doctor I have ever met. First of all, I didn't even realize he was the doctor as he made no introduction and by the way he acted I thought he was the technician. Sometime during the visit I realized this was the doctor. He was argumentative and did not listen to what my problem was which was that since having a major ear infection this summer my ears have been constantly popping and crackling, I have ringing and dizziness. He kept asking me, "what do you want me to do?". I kept answering "I want you to figure out what's wrong with my ears". I mean he's the doctor, how the heck am I supposed to know what tests or checks need to be done???? He said "I can't see dizzy" when I was explaining that whatever was going on with my ears was possibly causing my vertigo. I told him that I understood that but what I was hoping was that he could see what was causing the dizziness. He must've said "I can't see dizziness" 15 times and in the most patronizing way possible like I'm an idiot. He's the idiot. Any moron knows that a symptom is caused by something and you find that something and fix it, that's why I was there. And he kept looking at my husband who came into the office with me instead of addressing me (I'm so glad my husband was there to witness this jerk in action, I could not have begun to explain how rude he was). At one point he had to insert a camera that was about 10 inches long up my nose. He was not gentle at all going in and when he took it out, he yanked on it so hard I thought I was going to come out of that chair. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this jerk. I hope he gets his license pulled. He should not be dealing with people. Find another doctor, drive an extra hour if you have to. My ears will fall off before I ever see this jerk again. read more

Dr. Chang saw my wife and son for 5mins to give his expert opinion on whether or not my son would need a procedure to fix his tounge as he is possibly tounge tied. He responded "50/50, should we go ahead and do the procedure now?" She let him know she would discuss it with her husband and then make a decision. A week later a bill for $245 showed up. Call me crazy, but I would have a hard time looking myself in the mirror if I charged a couple of new parents that much money for a non answer and literally no service provided. We were referred by our pediatrician who already told us there was a 50/50 chance, that's why we went to the specialist....???? When I called to dispute the "office visit" (as it was so defined to me by the office manager) I was told that it was up to my insurance and how technically it was a diagnosis and as she read me the doctor's notes from the visit, he wrote there, that it was a 75% chance of being tounge tied (I'd imagine to protect him against claims such as mine since even he could see that "50/50" is a non-diagnosis) This is probably the third review I've ever written on a business, but I see a real problem with the way this greedy doctor operates his practice and the arrogance it takes to charge that much for absolutely nothing. The $25 copay was too much for what we got. I would urge you to look elsewhere and find someone more honest. read more

Seemed knowledgeable, but was visibly bored by me and my little problem. He had a high school student shadowing him at the time--which I agreed to, thinking the doctor would be at his best in front of the kid, but no. One of those doctors who leaves you feeling lesser, and less likely to seek medical care in general, if you know what I mean. Dr. Chang is a brilliant and effective doctor. I had suffered nasal polyps and resulting infections, uncomfortable breathing, asthma, etc, for decades. He suggested two options, and after discussion i chose the medical treatment program that he recommended resulting in near elimination of the polyps as well as material improvement of my asthma. I came to Dr. Chang because I had a problem with tonsil stones. I researched all of the options for years. I could have my tonsils removed, which at my age might lead to serious complications. I could do nothing and keep trying to manage the situation on my own - which wasn't working out so well. I could have laser cryptolysis, which might cause problems with other tissue in the back of my mouth if something goes wrong. I could have coblation, where only the offending tonsil is resurfaced. I opted for coblation. I researched and researched and researched and Dr. Chang got great marks across the board. After coming to him and having the procedure, I can see why. His office staff were friendly and efficient. You never got the feeling that they were bothered by your questions. They got me all scheduled for surgery very quickly. Dr. Chang offers you options on where you want to have your procedure. You could have it at the hospital or a surgical center he uses. I choose the surgical center. The only thing I didn't like was that the surgical center didn't call until the day before the procedure to give me my actual surgical start time. I was coming from a distance and I would have liked to have known about a week in advance, but I'm not upset about that because when they didn't call me as expected, I called Dr. Chang's office and they sent me in the right direction to get the information. I would just suggest that YOU call the surgical center beforehand (if you don't use the hospital) to ask when to come. I have to add that the surgical center staff were top notch - very friendly, very warm, very welcoming and just the type of people you want around you when you are about to put your life in someone's hands. Aside from the notification issue which I took care of, they were superb. The process and recovery went exactly as Dr. Chang described. Someone called to check on me the day after the surgery and scheduling the follow up appointment was a breeze! I discovered that I felt SO MUCH BETTER after my tonsil healed! It seems that my tonsil and it's associated tonsil stones were poisoning my system! About a week after the surgery, I felt better than I had felt in years! I realized that the constant nausea I had been experiencing for YEARS was a direct result of the tonsil stones! Who knew? Anyway, Dr. Chang and his staff are ALL rockstars! Do yourself a favor and make a weekend out of your visit. Come on a Friday and then go to Luray Caverns after the appointment. The area is just beautiful. I love great service! The most rude, uncaring doctor I have ever been to. He rushed in and checked the computer for my reason for being there. Never greeted me or seemed to care. I was there because I am having trouble sleeping. I am on oxygen and my nose clogs up during the night so I have to flip flop when one side clogs. I was looking for a solution to getting a full night's sleep. He ran something up my nose and then asked if I had any allergies, which I am not aware of any. I have some issues each year with leaf mold and new mulch but my problem is year round. Each time I answered his question he challenged my answer which was annoying. Finally he sent me for lab work at Lab Corp and only to determine if I had an allergy for trees, not for mold or dust. The biggest waste of my time and money ever. He called in a prescription not knowing my problem. He walked out of the examining room without saying a word. I was left to decide if my appointment was over or what. I walk with a walker and have to carry oxygen. No help from this office or doctor. Avoid him and this office if possible. I know the doctors on Hospital Hill have the medical care for Fauquier County pretty much tied up. But avoid this one please. I'm old and I see a lot of doctors. This is one you don't want to encounter. He even gave the wrong instructions for the lab. Such a nasty person. Avoid this doctor and go anywhere but here! read more

I just moved here from Virginia after having live in many other places in the United States for my job. As such, I have been to a lot of ENTs and Dr. Chang was certainly one of the best... the only one who was able to get my sinus issues under control. I want people to read this one carefully before coming to this butcher . He is not a doctor , he is just butcher cutting people meet for live and money . My mom went there for chronic painful swallowing, he did an exam and laryngoscope that he said he saw nothing wrong . He touch the right tonsil and my mom felt pain. Because of this he decided to remove right tonsil ( normal under the scope) . He put in the surgery paper work the reason is the mass. When I asked him about this , he said this is for insurance purposes. My mom had tonsils removal and the pain did not go away at all. When we asked him about this , he said because of cancer cells that prevent normal healing . He said this after the histopathology result came in . When I took the report to expert oncologist at Johns Hopkins , he said the result shows no cancer . I returned back to Dr. Chang , he finally decided to do CT scan. Which my sister tried to convince him to do it before surgery and he refused . CT scan shows mark on lower pharynx which is a few centimeters lower to the tonsil he removed . He refused to look at them again in laryngeoscope and he was saying she needs another surgery. I took my mom to different doctor and look at the lesion by scope and saw abnormal cells . Why Dr. Chang could not see it before surgery ? Why he insist to remove tonsil which was totally normal ? We need to report this one as a scam to us and to insurance . read more

I had the coblation surgery almost 3 months ago. Thanks to God so far I do not see any stone. I waited to write the review to know for sure, since it takes about 3 months to come back or not. This is the best thing I did for myself in years, still paying a couple of thousands of dollars but it is worthy. About the doctor, he did explain the procedure well and warned me there is 20-30% chance it will come back. It is so nice not to see those ugly stones every day. The procedure was done at the hospital because of my other problems, which I think should not be a concern. That is why it cost more than 8 thousand dollars. If you do not have major problem insist to have done at the surgical center, your cost will be half if not one fourth. I just could not understand less than 1 hour surgery cost over 6000 just hospital bill. Anyways if you suffer like me for years, it is worthy. The recovery was a bit unexpected. I was in bed for about 4 days, the first night was terrible. You have to be on liquid diet for a couple of days and use salt to gurgle after any meal/soup. The nurses at the hospital were great and very friendly. Dr. Chang is good what he does and answered my most questions and took time to explain the surgery and the outcome. However, he could have been a bit nicer. Hope this review helps someone, the reviews from Breezy helped me and I decided to do the surgery after I read her good experience. Dr. Chang treated my daughter for an issue with pressure in the ears and released the tongue and lip tie of my baby. He was very knowledgeable and caring.... however for some reason the tongue and lip reattached. Chances are like one in a hundred or something that it would reattach again and again and again. Dr. Chang did his best to help me and even did the procedure 3 times, the last time adding a stitch. He referred me to a pediatric specialist in Georgetown University who wouldn't help us. I ended up going to a pediatric dentist who did the procedure again and had me do very comprehensive stretching exercises that finally did the trick. All in all Dr. Chang is an awesome ENT, very smart and knowledgeable. He helps a lot of babies with tongue and lip ties. Dr Chang is caring, smart and cutting edge in Otolaryngology. read more

I am very impressed with Dr. Chang and his office staff. We first went to him when my daughter was 18 months old and had to have tubes in both ears. We returned to him when she was four and he diagnosed her with a rare condition known as PFAPA Syndrome. Other doctors had no clue what is was. Dr. Chang did her surgery to remove her tonsils, adenoids, look at her vocal cords and do allergy testing. He even pierced her ears! He is very matter of fact and does not beat around the bush. He never rushes us and takes his time and is very patient with our daughter who can bounce off the walls at times. He explains everything so well and always makes us feel comfortable asking questions. We have never had to wait long when in his office. I went there after an emergency visit to the Fauquier Hospital because my blood vessel in my nose broke and my blood was running out of my nose like a facet. I sat in the waiting room for over an hour with no one else there. When he finished eating his lunch he slams the door open to the back room and calls my name as he butchers it very nastily takes me to the back and try's to pump my hand purple with the blood pressure pump; then he takes me to another room and before I even sit down he said to me there is nothing I can do for you, go some where else. I said what are you talking about you haven't even seen me or my x-rays. The emergency doctor told me I should get to a ENT. He said the emergency doctor doesn't know anything. I looked at your x-rays already. Nothing I can do for you. What a horrible doctor very rude very nasty unkind and very unprofessional. Come to find out he is in a network called Fauquier network doctors and they had written in my charts not to see me. What a wicked group of doctors. read more
