This person told my husband (who had to get off work early) that he would not be seen because he didn't have (1) proof of a Covid vaccine or (2) not one, but two negative Covid tests. This was never told to him when he made the appointment. When he explained that he was never told, the receptionist proceeded to ask the doctor if he could still be seen. The doctor refused to see him. The excuse, because Covid has to do with the lungs. Hmmmm...that seems so strange to us considering our Dentist (who has no stipulations) saw us recently. You would think a Dentist would require something since they are so close to the mouth and in your face. It's a literal Covid Fiesta at a Dentist office. I must add that my husband works for the County (he worked through the pandemic). He has been tested numerous times (all negative), but he was not going to reveal this information. Why? Because at this point it's the CONSISTENT unprofessional behavior from the staff. It's the...Oh well, we don't care that we inconvenienced you, and your employer to come to our office. It is truly unsettling and an indication that maybe this isn't a right fit for my husbands care.

I, at a later date, paid the co-pay, and cancelled any upcoming appointments. We are not wasting any money on nasty receptionists or doctors. It seems like this is becoming the norm treatment for healthcare staff to treat seniors that way.

His name is Dr. Vipul Parikh. I found him due to a recommendation from my Mother - she had also recently switched Doctors - and she really liked this Doc - so I thought I would give him a try. His practice is located on the third floor of the Heathcote Health Center medical building - located at the western end of Heathcote Boulevard. I went in for my initial meeting/consultation to scope him out - liked the overall vibe of the Doc and his practice and went with him. He is very personable, listens to your concerns, and takes the time to patiently articulate things. Not only does he do Internal medicine - but Pediatrics as well - so folks with kids can also go to Dr. Parikh.

I came to Dr. Chang because I had a problem with tonsil stones. I researched all of the options for…read moreyears. I could have my tonsils removed, which at my age might lead to serious complications. I could do nothing and keep trying to manage the situation on my own - which wasn't working out so well. I could have laser cryptolysis, which might cause problems with other tissue in the back of my mouth if something goes wrong. I could have coblation, where only the offending tonsil is resurfaced. I opted for coblation. I researched and researched and researched and Dr. Chang got great marks across the board. After coming to him and having the procedure, I can see why. His office staff were friendly and efficient. You never got the feeling that they were bothered by your questions. They got me all scheduled for surgery very quickly. Dr. Chang offers you options on where you want to have your procedure. You could have it at the hospital or a surgical center he uses. I choose the surgical center. The only thing I didn't like was that the surgical center didn't call until the day before the procedure to give me my actual surgical start time. I was coming from a distance and I would have liked to have known about a week in advance, but I'm not upset about that because when they didn't call me as expected, I called Dr. Chang's office and they sent me in the right direction to get the information. I would just suggest that YOU call the surgical center beforehand (if you don't use the hospital) to ask when to come. I have to add that the surgical center staff were top notch - very friendly, very warm, very welcoming and just the type of people you want around you when you are about to put your life in someone's hands. Aside from the notification issue which I took care of, they were superb. The process and recovery went exactly as Dr. Chang described. Someone called to check on me the day after the surgery and scheduling the follow up appointment was a breeze! I discovered that I felt SO MUCH BETTER after my tonsil healed! It seems that my tonsil and it's associated tonsil stones were poisoning my system! About a week after the surgery, I felt better than I had felt in years! I realized that the constant nausea I had been experiencing for YEARS was a direct result of the tonsil stones! Who knew? Anyway, Dr. Chang and his staff are ALL rockstars! Do yourself a favor and make a weekend out of your visit. Come on a Friday and then go to Luray Caverns after the appointment. The area is just beautiful. I love great service! This doctor ROCKS!

My current provider, Dr. Abdul, is exceptionally caring and competent. All the nurses, techs, lab people and receptionists are very good. I love the patient portal which allows me to easily communicate and check test results. It is great for appt. reminders. Their telemedicine component is simply to use and great for minor issues. It's also handy to have Inova imaging down the hall.

This is my 4th UVA office, with 6 Drs. or Np's (some that quit / moved on), in an attempt to find…read morebasic primary care - sadly Piedmont was another fail. UVA has squashed the morale of every office I have been in - including this one. In my last appointment I appeared more of a bother than a patient. I was directed by Piedmont to get a lung X-Ray at a UVA imaging center. After multiple e mails to ask for results I finally received feedback after 20 days! Horrible response time and lack of details- "looks good but we should send you to a specialist". Contradicting eval. I asked for a shingles vaccine, and they did not have it. I spent numerous hours and e-mails in an attempt to get scripts refilled, and I went without diabetic meds for weeks. I never got them. Do not waste your time with any UVA operated offices. I went to INOVA and in one visit I felt welcome, the appointment was smooth, I got my shingles vaccine and learned about a pneumonia vaccine (and received it), and my scripts went through easily - all within 1 week. Not 20 days or weeks of e mails. I was fighting a cough for 4 months with UVA and no one ever mentioned a pneumonia vaccine. With diabetes I was worried that my cough (that has beat down 2 antibiotic treatments) might turn into pneumonia , but no one could not put it all together and work efficiently to provide me the care I was looking for. Simply astonishing. I just had blood drawn today at INOVA and all the results are in. Amazing response. UVA takes a few days to send it to the labs to get results - then when UVA finally gets to the results they will send it MyCHart. The only positive note I have with Piedmont is that the younger staff doing the vitals were outstanding, and I believe they just have not been around long enough to feel the UVA stress yet. Don't take my word for it - ask AI why UVA has poor healthcare service.
