Over the course of my representation, no meaningful discovery review was done, no strategic analysis was provided, and no serious negotiation with the prosecution occurred. I personally organized and presented the discovery in my case, which was largely disregarded. Despite this, I was repeatedly told that achieving a reasonable outcome was "impossible." Shortly thereafter, Mr. Sullivan withdrew from my case. Here's the part that matters most: new counsel achieved the exact outcome I was seeking in under one week--an outcome Mr. Sullivan insisted could not be done. That contrast speaks for itself. I'll say this carefully but honestly: perhaps Kevin Sullivan was a strong attorney 10-15 years ago, but based on my experience, he appears mentally checked out, disengaged, and unwilling to put in the work required today. The level of advocacy I received felt perfunctory at best. To make matters worse, despite minimal substantive work, my retainer was not promptly refunded, requiring further follow-up on my end. This experience was costly--not just financially, but in time, stress, and unnecessary uncertainty. If you are looking for an attorney who will actively engage with your case, thoroughly review discovery, and fight for outcomes rather than managing expectations downward, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This is farthest from the truth. I asked three questions that were important to me. How long will this review take? will she get the transcripts? and how will you handle his upcoming court date? Her reply was it will take approximately 6 mo. she will get his transcripts and will make an appearance on his behalf. As of 4/24/22 nothing has been done!! NO transcripts. (how can u review if you don't have the facts!!) She called me the day before his court date to ask what this was regarding. (as an atty u cant figure this out} she informed me that she couldn't go because she is still reviewing his case. Remember Maureen didn't say any of this when I asked! no actions have been taken she claims she thought her team was on it. Maureen also sends you highlights of your conversations but I noticed that anything that you have an issue with she doesn't address it, in the notes she sends you. only things that she assumes are going well. For the money that I have paid I expect more, I have since fired Maureen and awaiting my refund of 7500. she stated that she has to charge for her time. I am thinking timing doing what? lying!! For a year and a half I was strung along with no progress in my case, terrible communication, and this feeling that I just couldn't shake that something was off. All of this after being confidently assured the case would be resolved in three months. I paid this firm more than $26,000 before realizing they were accomplishing nothing more than draining my already strained bank account. As it turns out, the attorney working my case had been disbarred TWICE for ethical violations, including lying and falsification of evidence. They are now suing me for an unpaid attorney fees totaling a little more than $5000 (plus interest). Remember, I already paid over $26,000. Despite being sued, I have no intention of paying the remaining balance because I have strong reason to believe there is evidence they violated our contract. In fact, I may have a counterclaim against them. In addition, the wife of the owner is now harassing and threatening via digital messages due to my negative reviews of their firm. I am aware that libel is a serious offense, and I have made sure everything I have said has been absolutely true. I am just hoping to save anyone, like myself, who finds themselves in a difficult legal situation from wasting their time and money with this firm. Good luck and please beware. As a postscript to all this, my suspicions about this firm were confirmed when I hired a great law firm who swiftly took charge, won my case, and showed me how true professionals operate.
