Staff are always pleasant and accommodating. Both the downtown Puyallup and Graham facilities are hip and well maintained. Since I am an adult with braces, the expectations may be different than the great majority of their patients. They spend good chunk of time during the work up phase prior to braces which made me feel like they were tailoring my regimen to me rather than to a set protocol. Probably the most important thing is that Dr. Larson and team spend an invaluable few minutes during each visit informing me of the goals for each interval before the next visit. Conveying the reason behind each tweak of my braces therapy gives me a good idea of what I need to focus on and what to expect for the 4-6 weeks before the next visit. For example, they tell me that they are placing a wire with a wider arch so that I can hopefully achieve a broader smile. Or, that I need to wear elastic bands to close up gaps between my upper and lower teeth when I have my mouth shut. Many doctors overlook the importance of adding that extra personal touch. Not Dr. Larson. I would recommend him and his team 100% of the time! On a side note, I can't believe that somebody gave Smiles a harsh one star because a visit had to be extended by a few weeks. Braces take time. The initial estimated time to complete is exactly that...an estimation. You got to go with the flow a bit more. I have no problem waiting many months longer so I can get the best final product as possible.

My intake/payment experience was warm & welcoming; however, this quickly changed as treatment started. The orthodontist would fly by to check my progress each visit and didn't ask if I had questions or even pause to see how I was doing. I expressed my feedback and concerns about this to the dental assistant and was met with an attitude. When I got to the end of my treatment, I did not feel happy with the results and expressed my concerns to the ortho. My front teeth are uneven, the ones on the left side being more forward than on the other side. I was told that I don't want my teeth to look completely perfect and wasn't offered any other solutions. I would have been open to paying for additional trays if that had been offered. As I was checking out I heard someone say "if she doesn't like them, she can get veneers." I really hope that it wasn't said about me, but after that experience it was really hard not to think that was personal. Beyond that, the techs who took my dental photos were really new and it was painful and uncomfortable. They had me do dental photos right when my Invisalign was done and then again a month later. I asked to not do the last round of photos because they were having trouble working the camera and it was taking a really long time to get a photo with my mouth stretched wide open and super uncomfortable. This concern was brushed off, so I decided to leave the appointment at that time.

Its crazy to think about home much money this place charges for braces compared to others and this is the kind of product result. My daughter got her braces off this week and she is very happy with the results. The support staff and assistants are great! Scheduling is easy. We loved the attention to detail throughout the process. My daughter is on the spectrum and they made sure to explain everything to her in language that she could understand, have her demonstrate how to put in the bands or retainers herself, and they really empowered her to take care of her own teeth. State insurance paid for her braces. Very thankful for that. He does accept state insurance. His office is state of the art! His office is also clean and kid friendly! Over the 3 year process of braces I believe we waited more than 20 minutes twice. They are very good and staying on time. It is a busy office but they really do their best.
