If I could give this hospital a Zero I would. I am American…read moreand only speak English, my boyfriend speaks French/English. We walked into the ER and instantly I noticed the brown dirty foot prints coating the white floors, also covered in dirty mask and gloves etc. While waiting patiently for 13 hours. I finally asked "do you know when we will get seen, this man over here has been crying for hours with a dislocated hip, and there are two other broken arms in this room". The front desk lady did absolutely nothing and did not speak English. After asking two other people I got frustrated with being ignored. So I had my bf do it, only for them to say that they had only 2 doctors in the whole hospital!!!! IS IT JUST AN AMERICAN THING TO HELP HURT PEOPLE??? While sitting in the waiting room, I had multiple men stare at me, and say gross things. I watched all of the nurses and security people stop helping patients, to kick out the homeless drug addicts out of the ER. Which did nothing but make them scream and scream and punch and kick. Then INSTEAD of calling the police to deal with them. The nurse decided to help all of them before my bf. 13 hours later we make it to the exam room AND IT IS FILTHY. I thought the waiting room was bad... this hospital is not up to date. They do not clean anything. DO NOT GO HERE

I had the WORST experience at this place. For any black…read morewomen. women of colour, beware! I've been debating myself about sharing my nightmare experience in case it was a one time thing. I decided to share finally in case I'm not alone. In Mid 2019 I had a crisis and was rushed to St-Mary's in an ambulance. I'd been bleeding for almost a month and that morning I woke up with the worst pain of my life. I attempted to walk it off, but I collapse and was told that by the time the ambulance arrived there was blood everywhere. I was treated with respect and care in the ambulance. They calmed me down and off to the hospital we went. Once we arrived at St-Mary's, the first nurse I saw kept asking me if I had had an abortion. I told her no, and the fact that I wasn't sexually active yet. She kept insisting on it. At that point however, I couldn't talk much because I was writhing in pain. She took some blood and send me to the waiting area. Once girl from the ambulance came to me later with a blanket to cover myself and pads and told me to hang in there. About 3-4 hours later, I was sent to a consultation room and waited another 30-40 minutes to finally see a doctor. He came in looking at his chats or whatever, asked me if I was still in pain, I told him it was better than before. I tried to tell him my medical history, about the past 30 days. He just cut me off and told me that since I wasn't in pain anymore [they gave me pain killers] to just go home and come back if I am in pain again. Mind you I was still in pain. I told him as much. I also asked what was wrong with me. About the blood work. He walked to the door still checking his clipboard and said just come back if your are in pain again and left. I had no idea what to do. I came to this country on my own not too long ago. I don't really understand how hospitals work here. I had to go to a private clinic and pay over $700 to see a doctor for a diagnosis. I was ignored. My pain was doubted. There were no tests done to find out what was wrong. I was harassed by a nurse about an abortion even though I told her I hadn't had one. I see many people go to hospitals and come back with answers or At least guidance on their conditions. None of this was afforded me. Not even basic human decency. I didn't even get a face to face with the doctor! I remember the top of his head though. I'd be careful going to institutions that treat people this way.

I'm not sure how one accurately rates a hospital because there are so many areas of service and…read morenumerous staff. I would say that I have primarily been satisfied as a patient at St. Mary's. I laboured and gave birth there 2 months ago and the staff in the birthing center were wonderful: gentle, reassuring, and knowledgeable. Of course staying several nights wasn't particularly pleasant for me, especially when sleep deprived, but I could tell the nurses enjoyed working in that unit. I was offered plenty of support and never felt ignored. My family doctors and experiences with Cardiology, ultrasounds, and blood lab have all been positive (as much as they can be). However, there are certain staff who I've found to be less attentive, have an attitude, and generally seem apathetic. If I were an older patient or one with reduced mobility/disabled, I may not want to have surgery there based on my observation of family members treated there in the past. Certain floors seem to lack staff and resources to adequately care for patients.

I strongly believed that she had pneumonia and would most likely need antibiotics. After many attempts of trying to get an appointment with her family doctor.. even stressing the point of importance to see someone we finally decided to go to the Verdun Emergency. I have never had a problem with this hospital...but today's visit was extremely alarming to me. My mother had to have X-rays done and when she did all that and got called about the results..it ended up not being pneumonia. The doctor that saw her had said..no signs of pneumonia...it is viral not bacterial...no antibiotics needed...was told to just get plenty of rest for next couple of days and you should be back to feeling yourself in no time. So..basically it was like a bad flu etc....considering the news..we were somewhat relieved. Rest it was because it was VIRAL AND NOTHING SHOWED. About 3.5 hours later..Dr. from hospital asked if she could come back and basically..as soon as possible...right now. She goes back and had a couple of tests and sure enough...Dr. was right..she needs plenty of rest...because she HAS CANCER!!!!.. We went from....no nothing shows...it's Viral ..to Cancer...How is it possible to have not noticed this when we were there previously thinking it was pneumonia. I have no medical knowledge but when looking at an x-ray ...I am sure I would be able to see a mass in the middle and lower part of chest...We left there with the complete wrong diagnosis., to having Cancer. What is wrong with you people. How many times I wonder has this happened. Extremely shameful...disrespectful.. despicable. If you send a patient for an x-ray and you are not able to read an x-ray then you should not be giving any information to any patient but what they have or may not have because obviously way off key. Disgusted!!!!!!

I sweated like a pig for 18 years (yes 18!) until a trusted acquaintance of mine told me that it doesn't work. I so wanted to trust it and it did not come cheap either. They never changed my dosage and after all the saliva testing BS I was told by Mireille that she can NOT increase the dose. I switched to Estrogel and I swear the next morning I had no more sweating after my coffee and after 5 months I still feel great and could shoot myself for not reacting sooner. All that sweating took my energy, it was embarrassing but mainly these hormones were totally useless.

My particular issue once menopause hit was no longer being able to sleep well. The progesterone cream I was prescribed is made from sweet potatoes which my research as well as my pharmacist and my regular gynecologist said made them safe. And not only that, they all agreed with the Westmount Wellness Center's gynecologist...they were 'cancer protective', especially in women who carry extra weight (therefore produce extra estrogen). This is contrary to chemical progesterone. I am probably the only woman among all my friends who sleeps soundly and wakes up refreshed and it's thanks to the Westmount Wellness Center's recommendation to take bio-identical progesterone cream.
