This seems to be a house complex turned into a temple. Has several classrooms. I think his could be a school of some sort too? Very good choice and he best temple to go in the area! Especially to celebrate the new year! They're the only place that serves free vegetarian food also! Everyone who works there is nice and friendly and very generous. Pros: -very clean -spacious -very friendly and good customer service -a lot of free vegetarian food!!!! -a lot of statues and a beautiful pond -a small praying area to receive fortune for the next year -plenty of seating area to eat -you can self service the food! -clean bathrooms (no hand soap) -it's pretty Cons: -no parking space but plenty of street parking

Vinh Nghiem Temple is one of the three temples in a 30 minute radius for my family to visit during New Years since my mom cannot drive on the freeways. The Headmaster and the Buddhist Nun here are both really nice and welcoming. My mom and I are not regulars to this temple, but every time we come, they always offer us a vegetarian meal and well blessings. I know the temple underwent construction in recent years and now they have a private lot that makes it easy for visitors to park. Back in the days, we would have to park a few houses down on the street. With the new construction, the main hall has also been refurnished with new Buddha statues. The interior and exterior of this place looks great. I am slightly surprised that Vinh Nghiem Temple has no reviews yet, but then it makes sense since their regular disciples seem to be an older more traditional crowd of older ladies. If you are looking for a nearby temple to visit, this place is great!

Lost Shoes, Found Enlightenment…read more Visited the beautiful BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir and was truly impressed. The Hindu temple is absolutely stunning, the architecture is extraordinary, with intricate carvings made from Italian Carrara marble and Indian pink sandstone. It's on a apx 20 acres site. It took about five years to build, and knowing that so many volunteers helped create it with love and devotion makes it even more meaningful. Since the temple is located in an earthquake zone, I learned it also incorporates modern seismic protection technology beneath the structure, which is fascinating. The museum is definitely worth visiting as well. One unexpectedly spiritual experience happened at the shoe area. Someone apparently "borrowed" my shoes by mistake. For a brief moment, I thought perhaps I was being tested on detachment from worldly possessions. But then ... miracle of miracles ... the shoes mysteriously returned. My theory is either karma worked at lightning speed... or the person discovered that my shoes were not nearly as comfortable or fashionable as expected. Either way, I gratefully walked home with enlightenment... and my shoes.

There are plenty of parking spots for free. Entered the visitor center and was given a rundown by employee. Proceeded to the temple, which is the most incredible thing I've seen. It felt like we were transported out of Cali. You place your shoes on a shoe rack before proceeding up the stairs. The temple was beyond words. No phones, talking, hats or shoes allowed inside. Took the elevator to basement, where we walked through a museum before exiting back to the shoe rack. Went back to the visitor center, where we enjoyed browsing the gift store and cafe. There is an amazing selection of snacks. The experience was 10/10.

He then told me I had to leave, and I explained that I was just looking for the park. I told him I would turn my car around. He then threatened me, saying that I couldn't turn around but had to BACK MY CAR ALL THE WAY DOWN THE HILL. He said if I turned my car around instead of backing up, that he would "close the gates on us" and trap us in. That's so ironic considering their "loving-kindness sign" posted right at the gate. However, if you are looking for serenity and inspiration, then visit the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation in San Dimas. Thanks to the previous reviewer who mentioned about the unmarked road, I was able to find the place. It's beautifully located at the former campus of Cal Poly (before they moved to Pomona). All the buildings are hispanic and historic. This place does not have the typical buddhist temple architecture, but the essence of buddhism is all present. Stroll around the beautiful campus, take a 10 minute meditation in the chapel, or sit down and have coffee at the Buddhist bookstore. There are also classes for children and adults on Sundays. The essence of the Tzu Chi Foundation is to inspire greater love in the society through humanitarian initiatives, rather than just through chanting and inner work. Visit this campus, and you will be inspired.
