On October 20th 2025, I met with Chuck at his office to get my 2024 taxes done. I was immediately put off by the religious iconography but my taxes were late and I just wanted them done properly by a professional. I got the impression that Chuck was very experienced, and when he asked if there was a good reason for my taxes being late, I said "No." I made a point to respect his time and not make excuses, and I never time-pressured him even though each passing day meant more fees for me. The next day, he sent a Docusign then voided it and called me. We came up with final numbers, talked about a payment plan, then ended the call. Chuck then emailed me, "The fac that you are under 59 1/2 and there is not early withdrawal exception you have to pay both the income taxes and penalty on Roth account." This was really weird to me, because in addition to the first chat we had JUST talked about it as part of the numbers he gave me, his email seemed to imply this was a new realization to him. I replied after checking the new Docusign, "Chuck, is that why the federal is higher than we talked about on the phone? The state didn't change much but am I getting it right that it's +$8k in taxes for federal than we talked about?" He said, "yes" (which I took as a lie) and after considering firing him and using TurboTax, I decided to proceed because he's a licensed professional and it seemed like a rational risk. Well, I got followups from the IRS and state, tried to followup with Chuck, but he was rude and unprofessional. He ended up yelling at me on the phone after calling me the wrong name, and then hung up on me when I tried to explain things. Mr. Anderson insulted me to my face within 1 minute of meeting him. My partner and I arrived for a scheduled consultation. He came in, asked how he could help, and we advised we wanted to set up a trust for our children. I mentioned that my partner and I are not legally married, to which he said, "Ahhh, living in sin, eh?" I got up and left. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a supposed professional in my life. I'm not sure how he stays in business treating prospective clients in such a manner. I would strongly advise against hiring Chuck Anderson. In our experience, his work was riddled with repeated errors, including clerical mistakes, poor judgment calls, math errors, and returns showing tens of thousands of dollars in taxes due that were not actually owed. We had to rework the returns ourselves using AI, then send him line-by-line corrections. At that point, his involvement added almost no value. After all of that, he charged unexpected, unreasonable additional fees and withheld our filings until those fees were paid. The experience was stressful, costly, and deeply disappointing. I called with a specific tax situation I needed advice on and the admin assistant would not let me speak to someone for 5 minutes to tell me whether they were qualified to help or not without requiring an hour at the full rate. Admin had an attitude stating she has worked there for 30 years and seen everything. I explained my question and she gave me a BS answer saying "yeah I think Chuck may be able to help with that". I asked if she could please confirm before I decide to pay for advice, she came back a few minutes later and said they aren't interested in helping. Even if chuck doesn't need any more business, which is my guess based on this interaction, there is a better way to manage this without being rude and unprofessional. Used Chuck only two years - first year was fine - pretty much just needed to copy my former tax persons work, this last year he messed up my original filing by not claiming my son as a dependent, then I paid him an extra 200$ to amend my return, but he didn't catch the fact that my son was too old. Simple things. Now I have to pay the original amount owed plus a 150$ penalty from the IRS and no refund from Chuck for the problems. Unacceptable. Won't use him again. read more
