One person, without a dog, was just giving treats to all dogs that came up to them which was a bit frustrating and a bad behavior to teach. Also, people are terrible about picking up poop. You'll find dog poop and bags of dog poop everywhere--some of this I will blame on the park as its huge and there are only 2 places to put it. However. Its a huge place for my dog to run and he enjoys it-- and so do we, and as a bonus, he sleeps the rest of the day.

There's an overlook near the entrance where you can get a glimpse of the waterfall. However, the falls are also within walking distance of the start of the trail. The hill is on a slant and there are steep stairs, so the view may not be accessible for those who have difficulty walking. However, it was so calming just to sit and watch and listening to the waterfall. The day I went, there were others out but the paths didn't feel claustrophobic. I took some time and walked through the woods. The trail I took was relatively short, I think about a half mile total. I appreciated that there was a marker at the start that let you know how long it was. I am by no means a regular hiker (hoping to change that one day!) but this trail wasn't exhausting and was quite serene. This is a great park with a great waterfall and is definitely worth checking out!

What better place to do it than at a park. Especially one that has so much to offer. When I arrived I came at this park from the intersection of Madison & Ostrom. When I came here it was bit off putting to me as it was where the intersection was a bit wonky that allowed for vehicular to enter the park. So you needed to watch while you walking that no traffic was coming, or just walk about the grass, which is what I did. Being from out of town I had no idea what this park had to offer overall but I did do a lot of exploring which led me to a lot of different areas. I first just walked through the fields and along the tree lines. I backtracked a bit and stumbled upon the pool area. From there, I found the amphitheater and hung around there for a bit. After that, I found the football field and saw a lot of people using it for multiple reasons. From exercising, playing with their dogs, flying drones and many other things. I ended my time in the park at the rose garden. Roses were still coming into bloom, but I didn't mind that. I looked around at the different varieties of roses they had planted. I then sat on a bench for a few minutes to just take in this portion of the park. When I left, I was off towards Syracuse University campus. This park is enormous, and I am glad I was able to spend some time here.

It's a really nice, open park with lots of space to walk around. I do wish they had some sidewalks or something along the roads going up or down the hills, but that's one of the few issues I can think of. The park is maintained well, has a lovely rose garden (one of my friends volunteers here regularly, actually, which is how I found out about the park - they have a "Rose Day" in mid-June to celebrate, and I'm told that timing is mainly because that's when the roses are usually at their peak), and lots of fun features - like the amphitheater area, where my dog was especially interested in watching some folks who were preparing for a summer play. There's a pool area as well, tennis courts, concession area, and so on... and my pup especially seemed to love rolling down the hills just below the Thornden Park Water Tower (pictures included in this review, of course). It's worth noting that I *have* had a couple slightly sketchy experiences here... including one time being followed around by another park goer who seemed to be experiencing some mental health issues. As with anywhere, just be mindful of your surroundings.

To Those Committed to Great Golf Experiences:…read more On Friday 9/1/2023, we played Green Lakes State Park Golf Course. I booked a tee time 7 days in advance and there was only a single open tee time available on Friday at 2:20 PM going into a busy Labor Day weekend. When we arrived at 12:20 PM a cancellation had just occurred and the PGA Professional Jeff Carson was kind enough to let us take the open time at 12:30 PM. His offer was much appreciated since we drove 2 hours and 20 minutes one-way from the Albany area and planned to return after golfing. The park and the grounds in the area of the golf course are in extraordinarily great condition that reflected a truly strong commitment to a regular schedule of well-timed and planned maintenance and upkeep. Green Lake State Park Golf Course stands out as one of the best, if not the finest, golf courses we have played in the last 10 years and that includes both public and private courses. We play between 50 and 75 rounds of golf in a typical year. The place is absolutely in immaculate and outstanding condition. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were perfectly groomed and manicured, the rough was fairly deep and challenging and the greens, well the greens were simply amazing; fast, very undulating with many severe and challenging breaks that were difficult to read, but the putting was quite fast and very true. The traps were well raked and maintained with ample amounts of sand. The layout was designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones in circa 1930 and he made full use of a dramatically beautiful wooded landscape with severe elevation changes to create a challenging (but fair) exciting layout that is as stimulating to play as it is beautiful to observe with its many scenic views of Green Lake and the surrounding forest where the park is located. The par 3's were all challenging, well protected by bunkers, but set at fair yardage lengths. The par 5's ranked among some of the most interesting holes on the course due to their dramatic changes in elevation and the par 4's were all reasonably long, often with doglegs that required executing difficult approach shots to well-bunkered greens and tough pin placements. The greens are a wide variety of sizes, but every one was rolling fast and loaded with interesting undulations, unusually large and sometimes multiple breaks, and great, very challenging, but fair pin placements. The course was in perfect condition and this would have been challenging enough to maintain if this were a lightly played private country club course, but this is a very fairly priced, extremely well-played, busy public golf course in a desirable State Park setting. The golf course is itself nothing short of a real jewel that NYS should be proud to list among its finest State Park golf offerings. The golf course, as great and enjoyable as it was, is only part of the story. I believe the clubhouse and all of the amenities went through a significant remodeling project in 2015 or 2016 and the end result is a really nice bar and a well run restaurant that offers a terrific menu with great drinks and an awesome view of Green Lake from the veranda located at an elevated point maybe 150 to 200 feet above the lake itself. The renovations to the facility and all the surrounding amenities just added to the first rate dining and golf experience. The restaurant/bar concession is known as Yards Grill and it is exceptionally well run with great food and well made drinks and a sizable menu with a wide range of meal choices. The one thing I would like to stress and add to this review is that this kind of experience doesn't just happen by accident. It begins and ends with the commitment the NY State Parks Department is making to have Green Lake State Park be an amazing destination and a truly great golf experience. That could not be reflected better than by the current PGA Professional Jeff Carson and the commitment of his entire dedicated team who operate and maintain this wonderful facility. Even on what had to be one of their busiest days, they operate a golf facility in a manner that is professional, friendly, kind, considerate, and truly customer service focused and oriented and from what we experienced and saw while we were there, that approach applies whether you are golfing there on a regular daily basis or just visiting on an occasional trip like we did. Kudos to Jeff Carson, the PGA Professional, and all involved with his team and thank you for a truly great golfing experience that stands out and will be memorable for a long time in the future. I cannot give Green Lakes State Park Golf Course a stronger recommendation or a higher rating to anyone who loves to play golf. This place is a 10 on a 5 scale in my book and this rating is truly well-earned and richly deserved! You won't regret playing at Green Lakes State Park Golf Course and/or eating at Yards Grill. I am writing to formally express my frustration and disappointment regarding our recent experience at your store. We booked a birthday party for my granddaughter at 12:30 PM, paying $99 for one birthday child and five additional kids. However, upon our arrival, the store was in chaos. I was incorrectly stamped with a separate party, and some of our guests were not stamped or given stickers at all. We were told we could not set up early, but that we would be seated at our table by 12:30 PM. By 12:45 PM, when most of our guests had arrived, we were still not seated. I approached the staff to inquire about our situation, but they were unable to locate my granddaughter's placeholder or party supplies, and there were no open tables available. Eventually, I found my granddaughter's name tag and placeholder under a box of supplies. They then placed us at the end of another party's table, which made that party unhappy. We had six kids and eight adults crammed into the back corner with only six seats available. Finally, at around 1:15 PM, the kids were given their tags and allowed to play, but we had to rush through everything. The table we were seated at created further complications, as the other party was frustrated and it became difficult for anyone to move through our area. We spoke with two different managers several times during this ordeal. They informed us that they had "overbooked" and that there was "nothing we can do," showing no willingness to resolve the situation or take responsibility. Additionally, three of our guests were mistakenly charged an extra $8 for the bounce house, which was supposed to be included in our package. My granddaughter, the birthday girl, did not receive her birthday celebration or any of the promised features. We felt rushed and interrupted, even with our already delayed start time. Despite this, we were told we needed to leave by 2:30 PM. When we approached management about our concerns, they dismissed us. To make matters worse, we were presented with a bill for $404.88 upon leaving. Given that we had paid $99 for the party and a $50 deposit, the final balance should have been $50--especially since we received no extras or upgrades. We even paid an additional $50 in cash for cups for the adults. I strongly believe that this is an attempt at fraud or theft. I am extremely upset about how my granddaughter's birthday was ruined. The attitude of the staff, coupled with the disrespect we encountered from the guests of the other party, added to the negative experience. I am encouraging each of our guests to leave a one-star review on Yelp and to share our experience on social media. I expect the management team to be held accountable for this situation. I would like a prompt response to the email or phone number provided, as well as a full refund of the deposit charged to my card (Receipt ID: 669129758904) for the party of Annalisa's 4th birthday. This experience is particularly disheartening, as I chose Chuck E. Cheese because it had been a wonderful part of my own childhood and my children's. I just left my granddaughter's fourth birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, and it was a disaster. We booked over the phone and paid a deposit, but when we arrived at 12:15, we were told we couldn't go back until 12:30. We finally got called back at 12:45, and the kids were starting to show up. We were crammed into a corner at the end of someone else's party because the staff mislaid my granddaughter's name tag. We had planned for two parents per child but ended up squished with eight adults and only six kids. The drinks were limited to six cups, despite claiming unlimited drinks, and after paying $50 in cash for extra cups, they tried to charge our card again. The service was terrible, many games were out of order, and they wanted an additional $8 for the bounce house. To top it off, they attempted to charge our card nearly $400 when we left. I'm already in contact with corporate and would advise against booking a party at this location. read more

This place is dangerous! Kids are unruly and unaccompanied and parents are apathetic and at times, dangerous themselves. I've seen many physical fights between parents arise from negative interactions between kids. This place needs more staff and security! It had 5 stars from me before with just the trampolines... now it's just 10x better. It's much more open (you're able to have better view of your kid without as many barriers), and it does still have all the amazing trampoline areas... but now it also has 3 amazing playground areas. One is the giant multi-level that reminds me of the one at the MOST museum. The other two are great also and one has slides into a ball pit. I've always wondered why snowy upstate NY doesn't have many indoor playground options... this place made a smart move by adding these to their already existing trampoline park!! We are loyal fans for their toddler sessions. :)

And, there are also some vending machines!

The kids play, then they are called in for lunch, not sure if there are choices, but we had pizza and lemonade and fruit punch. We were allowed to bring in cupcakes and cookies, and we also brought in chips and a veggie tray. We didn't open the gifts because the kids absolutely wanted to go back and play more before they left. It is expensive for a party with lots of kids, but you can take your kids there for just a day pay or buy other types of passes.

Thankfully for me and many others, the retro vibes are what we want and this place has it in spades! The roller coaster looks old and ready to buckle, but hey what's life without a little risk? The main arcade has skee-ball that is so old, there are no 100 pockets in the corners! I love it! Several games in the arcade are not working correctly, the staff knows it, but they are super friendly in spite of that. But the real reason to come to this amusement park is.... FASCINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sylvan Beach is one of only five or six amusement parks left in the United States that still offer this PERFECT game which combines bingo, roll-a-ball derby, and skee-ball. Go watch a Youtube video or two on Fascination Bingo and you'll be as hooked as I am. Be the first to light up five slots in a row on your grid and win redemption tickets and bragging rights! They offer bonus tickets if you light a harder line (like the center row or the back row), or if you get a double or even triple bingo. There's room for 40 players, but half of the lanes don't work as these were constructed back in the early 1900s and are close to 100 years old - so if you don't snag a lane, watch a few rounds and jump onto one when someone gets up! 50 cents per game, can you beat the price? No, you can't. The two young ladies who operate the Fascination parlor are sassy and sweet, engaging to all guests young and old, roast you beautifully if your ball gets stuck, and genuinely love their job. Bring hydration to the Fascination Parlor - there is no air conditioning and you'll be jumping and celebrating your wins - it's a hot-yoga-esque workout! We rounded up our adult children and made them come with us to check out the park. To be honest, this amusement park is far from it's prime. I'm sure back in the day when it first opened, it probably was so much more exciting and fun. The amusement park looks really run down. Some of the game stands were looking pretty sad. There were a lot of arcade type spots, some were nice and some needed some tlc. There were a few of the rides that were open and operating. Some were still down. The roller-coaster gives you some butterflies while riding it but it's still very tiny. It's about 8 bucks for a very fast ride. So, you're really paying for the core memory of the ride and not the ride itself. I can see this joint being fun for kids and teens. They don't know any better. The bright lights and arcade games is exciting for them. For my older kids who are in their early 20's, we were able to distract them with a few games for some tickets but the interest didn't last long. For a smaller amusement park, it does it's job. It would be a fun date night just to walk the beach, share a fry bread and ride the roller coaster. I'm happy I got to check it out with my little family tonight. It wasn't the most exciting but we got to share time and create some memories together hanging out at the amusement park tonight.
