Well we're all in quarantine. It's a crazy time. As one who ate out a lot it's been quite a change to switch to almost solely cooking. However, my girlfriend and I decided, for our sanity and to support the struggling restaurant biz, to order out. I'd been craving Chinese and most in our and the surrounding neighborhoods were shut. We landed on Chung Chun after looking around a bit. We ordered egg drop soup, an egg roll, a few spring rolls, two orders of fried pork dumplings, beef lo mein, sesame chicken, shrimp with broccoli and roast pork with broccoli. We seriously stocked up. And boy oh boy did it pay off. I'd ordered from there once before and was pretty disappointed, but this time almost everything was seriously delish. A classic egg drop and a solid spring roll with a variety of veggies began things. The dumplings were very good, maybe I'd just been craving them so bad that I wanted them to be good but I think overall they were just damned good. The shrimp with broccoli was certainly above average, I've had better but this was also much better than others I've had. The lo mein and egg roll were welcome but probably just par. The two dishes that stood out were the roast pork with broccoli and the sesame chicken. I'm a big fan of roast pork and it was just about exactly the way I like. The sesame chicken was a bit of a surprise! It can always go either way, especially with takeout. It's either good or it's a bit soggy with more batter than meat. This was beyond good, still hot with an excellent ratio of batter to chicken. We certainly had leftovers for a few days. The prices are very good so treat yourselves and give back a bit! This place is very odd to me. I didn't eat here, but I will give an honest review about their customer service which is just as important. First off, I called them and the woman informed me that they close at 8:30. I figured I'd call back for dinner. When I did call, there was nothing but a busy signal from 6 - 9. If you supposedly close later, why would you take your phone off the hook. I called the next day and they are supposed to be open at 11am. I call at 11:50 and she tells me they'll be open in 10 minutes, so you open an hour late. I called again at night to place an order. More busy signals until we finally got through. When we did, she asked for my phone number, I gave it to her. Had to repeat the numbers to her as she did not hear it. BUT HERE'S THE CATCH, when I asked her to repeat my phone number because I didbr hear her, she says to me 'you have to listen, okay? I'm very busy. So listen.' Then she repeats the number. What type of person speaks that way to a customer for no reason? I'm giving you money, and about to place an order, not taking money out of your pocket. Very rude and extremely nasty for no reason. I have my regular Chinese restaurant and only was about to order from this dump because mine was closed during to the lockdown. However, I ended up not ordering the food, especially when I read the other reviews that they also have had a very nasty attitude with other customers. Food can taste great as long as the chef of the restaurant can cook. But a nasty ass attitude to your customers will make you lose business. I told her to cancel my order she got upset because they started cooking. She demanded cash I just left very rude yelling at the microphone. The issue is the minimum for a card. This is one of the only Chinese restaurants that we're open that I've seen in Brooklyn. I missed it so much, and it was just okay. I normally order, chicken wings and pork fried rice and an egg roll. That's my go to order since i was younger lol. (Don't judge me lol). I had a bad craving since i haven't had it in a couple months. So i made my friends drive me here to get some food. They allow 5 people at a time in the store. Not bad. They have the floor marked where people should stand. They seemed very busy. The phone never stopped ringing which is a good thing for them. Bad for the people ordering. It was bland. The rice was dry. I couldn't tell it was pork fried rice which was disappointing. Barely any pork pieces in the rice. It was all clumped together, hardly any veggies. Just bland. The chicken was just okay as well. The egg roll was good. I miss lucky house so much (for my bed stuy folks). It helped my craving for Chinese, but i think imma hold off on ordering until this pandemic is over. So i can order from lucky house (Halsey and Lewis Avenue) they have the absolute best I've had in a while. So if you're craving Chinese and can't find it. This seems to be the only choice. I'm the first to review this joint? Bet I know why! 2 stars because my dinner cost only $5.95. This is "ghetto Chinese" but just average, if not slightly below. I am a lifelong fan of ghetto Chinese. I love being able to get my fried chicken and my beef with broccoli at the same eatery. I also like the speed at which your food is prepared, because it's all fried somehow. Hell, I guess I just like fried food. Most fat people do. I got a whiting & fries tonight, and it was not remarkable. I know this can be a great meal if done right, and a lot of ghetto Chinese joints can do this justice, but not this place. The fish didn't have too many bones, but it was probably some of the dirtiest tasting, southeast asian imported Basa fish that I've ever eaten. Did you know that sometimes what's called "Whiting", "Lake Trout" or even "Catfish" is actually an imported Vietnamese/Thai catfish known as a Basa? 100% true. Chungchun is my go to place for Chinese takeout. And let's be honest, it's a greasy wok like most Chinese food joints in New York City. It serves American Chinese food and it does it well. They've never messed up an order, and the delivery is ridiculously quick (I live two blocks away, and I've received their delivery five minutes after getting off the phone with them. I have absolutely no idea how this is possible). The vegetables always taste fresh, and they nail every dish. If it's supposed to be crispy, it's crispy, tangy, it's tangy, you get the idea. Their combination plates are very filling and inexpensive, and their dumplings are about as good as anything you get in Chinatown, except that they're bigger. Chungchun is also open very late, or at least later than most neighborhood delivery places in the area. One of my personal favorites is their General Tsao's Chicken. read more

I spend over $30 in take out every time i buy from here. This time on my way home with the kids from school I picked up. Got home to find out they gave me something spicy that the kids couldn't eat.( Singapore chow mien fun, I order just pork chow mien fun) . They charged me more for this. Called to let them know they made a mistake and if they can please send me my order and not even asking for the balance refund. She just said NO! That it was not her fault that she didn't take the order and that I picked it up. I explain how I couldn't return to the store for it was a far walk and my kids already started their homework. She said NO! What happened to customer service? Never will spend my money at this location again. As far as takeout places go, Chung Chun is ok with me. It is steps from my apartment and doesn't have the same "vibe" as Kum Kau. The food tastes fresher than other take outs in the neighborhood and the prices are right. Ive been a loyal Chung Chun customer for years and I always loved their food. Unfortunately, their inspection grade is a C. Therefore, i won't be eating there anymore. As silly as it may sound, I felt absolutely betrayed and can't help but wonder how they ended up with a C. If you don't care about inspection grades, their food is fresh, the staff is likable and professional. There is a $1 delivery fee and it's usually very swift service. read more
