Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

And while you're queuing to pay, there are more temptations on your way to the till - for book junkies this is worse than the sweet counters in supermarkets! Daunt Books is a small chain of independent booksellers with an emphasis on travel and literature. I like the way they curate their shops and always succeed to find a gift here - but not without buying one or two books to keep myself.

This branch also has a Post Office inside, tucked towards the end of the store which was the main reason for my visit, sadly after walking down the store, it seemed empty and deserted, there was no sign to say it was closed, so I had to ask a member of staff who ended up telling me. The overall branch seemed a little old-fashioned again for a mall which is so big, vibrant and modern and perhaps the newer type store refurbishment making it similar to the Manchester Arndale store which opened earlier this year in 2017, which is a smaller but better/nicer store could be the way forward. The overall selection was decent, they seemed to be a larger than average selection of books. The drinks selection could be in need of improvement. This store doesn't scream out to be anything more than satisfactory or average, most things here can be improved so I feel only a two-star rating is warranted.

Warning, this is more of a rant than a review ... about how it is near impossible to buy my…read morefavourite newspaper after 6pm on a Saturday. I love the Saturday edition of The Guardian and my weekend is not complete if I don't get hold of a copy. On several occasions now I've ended up rushing from supermarket to supermarket in Notting Hill (there's a Tesco, Waitrose and M&S all lined up the hill, another Tesco's next to Holland Park station) to find large stockpiles of The Times but not a single issue of The Guardian. No, I won't buy into Murdoch Press, is this a conspiracy? It's only desperation that drives me into supermarkets in the first place - gone are the days where you had a newsagent's at every corner, especially near the main tube stations ... shops that look like a newsagent's now only sell tourist tad and sweets. Except Embassy News - it really was worth walking up a little further towards Bayswater Road to finally come across Embassy News. Lovely man behind the counter who confirms that they don't pack up their newspapers to return to the distributors before midnight (most supermarkets remove all newspapers by 7pm, hence my panic). Not the most convenient location for me but this may well become a regular haunt as I keep remembering too late that there's something missing in my life.
