I sent an email to the listed people on the website (http://www.habanasmokes.com/) inquiring about information posted on the website. I did not get a reply so it made me wonder about the place. I was in Jackson MS about 3 days before I GPS'ed the place and drove over. The shop is located on I55 off the side of the freeway. You can see it from the freeway for sure. I stepped in and a gentlemen at the front cash register said hello. He was pretty engaged in a conversation with what was obviously one of the regulars. Now the good part -- the place is filled with great quality stogies at comparable prices. I would actually say that they are not overpriced from what I have shopped at previously. Brand names include Gurkha, Rocky Patel, CAO, Davidoff, Nubs, Oliva, Fuentes, Romeo and Julieta, Drew Estates -- too many to list but for sure something for everybody. There is a small seating area towards the back as well as 2 seats in front of the doors before you go in. In general a nice place to get your smokes. Check the website to see general information.

They took the time to educate us about proper care for it, helped us cure the wood and prepare it, and expected nothing in return. In fact, they almost looked shocked when we purchased more products from their store! Their "man cave" is comfy with large plush couches and chairs to relax on while smoking your pipe, cigar, or even cigarette. We will keep this shop on our radar for future travels! Oh, and for those of you who are military: they do give a discount. Good to see that we aren't forgotten!

Looking at the $5 menu (it ends at 8pm), I can definitely see why it's a crowd favorite. The restaurant was full, the DJ was playing jams, and the menu options were pretty good. From that $5 menu, we got spinach artichoke dip, which was okay (I think it should be started with chips instead of bread??), and wings which were fire. I got the lemon pepper. They were delicious. That menu also has lemon drops, and for $1 extra, you can get it and then array of different flavors, such as mango, peach, passionfruit, strawberry, etc. I got raspberry at the servers recommendation and it was good. For entrées, my friend got the Cajun pasta, and I loved it. I would order that one again. They also got oxtail, which I didn't try. I got the red fish, and let me tell you it was gigantic! I've never had this, so I was really taking a risk. I found that I don't think I love red fish, as it didn't have the flavor profile I was expecting, however, the sauce on it really brought it to the next level. I got some to go. The greens were extremely salty unfortunately, but the cornbread was really good. I know a lot of people talk about the service and sadly, I did feel the same. It did seem that our server was gone for extended periods of time, and we did wait a while to put in another order for the $5 menu. Initially one of our lemon drops didn't come out either, and we had to ask about it. However, I will say that once we were ready to order entrees, the service did seem to get better. Our server communicated that the kitchen was working on getting out food from the 8 o'clock deadline, and that she would come back and take our order in a bit. I appreciated that communication and didn't mind waiting after. I noticed that within 30 minutes, the restaurant really cleared out, so I'm thinking that a lot of people come for that menu and then leave.. which is surprising because it's a really good looking menu and if I lived in town, I would definitely come back to try more. Add to that later, I also noticed that hookah came out and the DJ got more live.. just something to note!

We loved the attention to detail on the decor and layout. The vibe and streaming music was nice and added to the experience. The hubs ordered an assortment of wings and I tried the oxtail pasta. The wings were pretty good. The oxtail pasta took quite a while to come out. The hubs had finished his plate before mine arrived. The new bartender was very kind and gracious when reporting on the delay. Upon arrival, the oxtail itself had a heat (like Jalapeño seed heat) that I wasn't prepared for, but the oxtail meat was falling off the bone and well prepared nonetheless. We didn't order drinks this time around, but will return when we're in the area for drinks, apps, and a vibe! Happy to see this new business in the area, and wishing them all the best.

It's a small to midsized lounge but nice enough space for couples or a small event. There's also a patio with TVs and a speaker for music outside. There's also a DJ & TVs inside as well. Definitely a cool spot to watch the games, catch up with friends, or even a nightcap.

They also have a walk in humidor with a great selection of cigars. 40+ years in business tells you these guys know a thing or two about what they are doing. I've been a customer for several years, hell I even have a tobacco blend I helped create (it's called Indian Outlaw and you should buy some). Jon David, the store manager, is incredibly knowledgeable about pipes and tobacco. Whether you are a novice in the pipe world or have been smoking for years the country squire will feel like home. So go by and buy some Indian Outlaw, or something else I guess.
