Great Tex-Mex chain. I love the appetizer sampler because it gives you some of everything and very filling. I don't think I ever leave without a to go box. They probably have one of the best happy hours. During happy hour you can enjoy the nacho truck for FREE! Nacho truck has their amazing queso, salsa, chips, beans and ground beef. I have definitely made this my meal with one of their great frozen margaritas on the side. Whatever you order make sure you ask for some creamy jalapeño dip on the side even if it's just to compliment the chips and salsa and if you decide to enjoy just the nacho truck still leave an appropriate tip for the staff because they are all amazing and friendly! read more

It definitely was not worth what we paid and this is my first visit and my last visit. Maybe the food is better seated. However, the food should be good whether your eating in or ordering out. I am from Texas and usually, I love Chuy's. This past Saturday I had the worst experience at Chuy's and I was so surprised. I had brought my sister-in-law and brother for lunch so they could try it out. Bragging on Chuy's for years, it was their first time. I had ordered the Steak Burrito with Boom-Boom sauce and when they brought my food, my Steak Burrito had a different sauce on it. When they realized their mistake before they handed me my food, they took it away to fix the issue. Moments later, they brought my food out and it was on a COLD PLATE instead of their normal hot plate. My food got cold fast and it was not enjoyable. Everything was cold. This was the first time I had ever had a bad meal at Chuy's and it did not make me happy. The server never came back to ask how things were after THEY made the mistake or I would have said something then. I feel like they should have at least asked me how my meal was after they screwed up my order. I am highly disappointed. read more

If you want a blandchillada or have a hankering to drink orange cheese, this is your place. We had a cheese/guacamole/beef dip as an app. It was a little less than ok, but we ate it. I was suspect as soon as I saw the orange nacho cheese in the bowl. It tasted like that kind of cheese you can get on nachos at a gas station. Not a great start. My wife ordered some sort of Elvis Memorial combo entree and I got the Comida Deluxe. They both sucked really bad. SUCKED. Bland as hell and 80% comprised of crappy cheese and bland sauce served with a side of bland beans and Elvis's favorite bland rice. The decor was weird in a not-good way. This is what it would look like if Jimmy Buffet bought an On The Border. Our waiter was good and the manager was very understanding when we said we couldn't eat the food. This place was not good. I met a friend here for dinner on a Monday night and we were seated immediately. I love the wild decor and the layout of the restaurant--it's separated into many smaller rooms so there are never too many people in your section. As for the food: We split the guac, which tasted very fresh, but could have used an extra punch of flavor...maybe more lime juice or tomatoes? Chips and salsa were excellent. My fish tacos were perfectly cooked and the portion was HUGE...I could barely finish half. I was happy to have some to take home with me for lunch the next day. Splitting the guac + entree, my meal was only $12 before tip. Our server was very sweet, but was so quick with ordering and food that it almost felt like we were being rushed. We were done with dinner & the check within 45 minutes and felt bad holding on to the table to keep chatting. My only other issue is the lack of healthy vegetarian options on their menu. Since coming to the Triangle, I've been on a months long search to find a good choice locally. Last night, we tried Chuy's in North Hills. After the visit ... still looking. In fact, this was by far the worst experience I've had since moving here. So bad that my companion looked at me and said "We're never coming here again" halfway through the meal. It started well enough - the server was attentive and the chips and salsa were quite good. My first inclination we were in trouble was when a server came by and literally tossed a bowl of baby-vomit looking guacamole on the table. Thankfully she yelled "Guacamole" as she jogged by, else we might not have known what had just been delivered. I swear the guacamole had shredded lettuce in it. From there, it went downhill quickly. My taco salad was dry, sparse, and almost devoid of flavor - save the tortilla which tasted like it was fried in rancid oil. Her stuffed avocado was clearly pre-made, frozen, and microwaved on site. She called it a "turd avocado" and the description looked pretty apt. We choked down what we could, and went elsewhere. read more

I heard great things about this place but sadly not impressed by the food. It was overall bland, the only flavor comes from the sauces. I ordered the Chicken Flautas and it was plain chicken wrapped and fried. Other flautas I've had have seasoning, cheese, and/or beans mixed with the chicken so I was pretty disappointed. Chuy's is probably my most favorite new tex-mex restaurant...ever. Their Chicken Tortilla soup is magnificent. No, I am NOT exaggerating. The broth is clear but incredibly flavored, they have roasted corn, bits of tomato, pieces of tortilla, perfectly sliced avocado, cheesy cheese, yummy chunks of chicken and then give you a fresh warm flour tortilla to eat with it. Are you drooling on the keyboard yet? My current second favorite item is the Baja Fish Taco. With the creamy jalapeno sauce and their salsa...I could rhapsodize about this as well: the flour tortilla is wonderful and flavorful and doesn't rip apart too easily but isn't chewy. The bits of red cabbage is great as is the crust on the fish. I've also tried their Appetizer sampler plate and my only issue is that there isn't anything really perfect and awesome about it. It's good though. Their house margaritas are yummy though aren't that strong. Chips are probably some of the best in the area. Light, slightly salty, served warm, and crunchy. Their house salsa is also good and the creamy jalapeno sauce that I mentioned above? I could drink that through a STRAW people. It is that good. Our neighbors told us to check this place out so we went for lunch yesterday. When we first sat down, I was unimpressed. Looked like the same menu I have seen a million times before. I was very well surprised, to say the least. First, they brought the chips and salsa fresca (very fresh, a little spicy, and super delicious). I usually prefer the puree style, but this was incredible. I ordered white cheese dip and the server told me they have a yellow cheese dip instead. I was a little disappointed because I love the traditional white cheese dip, but I was in for a real treat. It was a smooth yellow concoction with tons of FLAVOR. A little spicier than the salsa fresca. Mmmmmm... so good. Entrees - I had the taco salad with fajita beef. Easily the best tasting fajita beef I have ever eaten. My husband got the Fajita chicken and beef tacos. He said both were delicious. His only negative was the "doughy" flour tortillas. Our son had the cheese quesadilla and his only complaint was the "doughy" flour tortilla. The tortillas are made in-house and everything that was crunchy (chips and my taco salad bowl) was amazing. My food was good. I liked that they had a free nacho bar during happy hour. It made me so full that I did t want to order food but I had to try the stuff peppers. I had one with chicken and one with shrimp plus their special sauce. It was good but still not as good as other Mexican restaurants so that's why I gave them a 3. The hostess was rude and mean. Seemed like she didn't want to be at work. I saw lots of dirty tables and I felt that they may need to spray something to control the bugs outside. Service is always spot on, even when they're slammed...Also they work hard to keep the restaurant itself clean it seems! Finally be sure to ask for a patio seat when it's nice! Probably my favorite thing about Chuy's is that Mrs. B really likes it so I have another option for us to eat Mexican food. She is from the southwest so the tex mex with shades of New Mexico is right up her alley. I really like the thin tortilla chips (think Chili's). The option to have different sauces from the default on your order is nice. I've tried a couple of the combo meals and have liked everything on them. All the food is made with fresh ingredients and that definitely makes a difference in the taste. One thing Mrs. B really loved is that the sopapillas are southwestern style. Not the usual fried tortillas with some chocolate sauce and whipped cream, but the light pillowy dough with some powdered sugar on them and honey to dip them in. The decor is kind of funky southwestern diner. Lots of interesting pictures of random folks on the walls. The service has been good both times we've been there. read more

However, as we have gone at least a half dozen times, each time we leave not wanting to go back. However, we "keep giving it another chance". Celebrated our 45th anniversary here after our first choice was too crowded and would make us miss our movie. Everything turned out just fine. We were seated as soon as we arrived and our waitress was timely with drinks and taking our meal orders. My margarita on the rocks hit the spot! My special burrito was excellent if not too large. It was filled with shredded beef and cheese and surrounded by green chili salsa and a side of Jalapeño rice. My wife had Three tacos and thought them to be okay but not great. She also had the rice and a side of pinto beans. The rice and beans were very tasty. We also ate our way through two baskets of chips and salsa, both made fresh. The chips are very light and it's easy to get carried away before the main course arrives. Be careful you save room. The salsa is more like pico de gallo and had just the right heat. I totally enjoyed Chuys! The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The guacamole was a generous portion, the creamy jalapeño dip is awesome- not very spicy at all for those worried about that. Kind of a kicked up ranch dressing. I have had the shrimp chile rellenos and the veggie enchilada. I love the rellenos- the coating is almost like a fried chicken coating; very crunchy. There were probably 5 or 6 medium shrimp in the filling. If you bring a framed picture of your dog they will put it on the bar wall and you get a free appetizer! I will definitely be back! read more

I started with the Tito's Bloody Mary and it was spot on what I was looking for! My boyfriend said that his margarita was good but had a very strong tequila flavor, not a bad thing IMO! This restaurant is expanding from Austin, Texas. Each restaurant has a shrine to Elvis, a car themed room w/ hubcaps on the ceiling & nacho bar for waiting patrons. I went here with my family and another. Immediately, I noticed the atmosphere and vivid room decorations. Each room is a different theme, my favorite being the one with hub caps covering the ceiling. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive waitresses ready to refill glasses or bring more chip baskets. The food was fantastic as well. The Chuychanga with Ranchero sauce was a perfect combination. Portions are very large, so come hungry. On top of all this, the prices are extremely reasonable. Chuy's was awesome and very authentic from the region I come from! Others have said not authentic, but they need to know that the Mexican people made dishes with what was available in their REGION! So what they offer is what I know and love. Hatches Green Chilis are the best! I had the Texican Tacos and my husband had chili rellono and enchilada. The spice was perfect!! The salsa was a little more watery than I like, but had excellent flavor that went well with the wonderfully light and crispy homemade tortilla chips. Dawn was our server and she was outstanding! I went 2-3 times a week and sat at the bar. The salsa isnt nearly as good as it used to be but that is in the past. Today I go to sit at the bar, almost empty, and was asked to move because someone down the bar wanted his buddies to sit with him when they arrived. So I get bumped so people that have yet to arrive, can sit at the bar. I work across the street and tip very well. They will never see me again. read more
