Awful experience! My seven-year-old was the first to enter the gift shop and he received a glare and a stare from the old man behind the counter. We were not greeted or spoken to our entire time in the hot stuffy shop and I felt like I was being watched like a hawk while I was there. I definitely would not step foot in that shop again and would recommend anybody else avoid it if they see the grumpy old man behind the counter. read more

I had a great experience in Cicely's Gift Shop. The clerk was very accomodating, let my dog into the store. He was a guy with a long pony tail and top hat- a character who was highly knowledgable about the town and the show. Offered me a free Walking Tour map of the filming sites of the show Northern Exposure and had a sufficient selection of NE and Roslyn mugs, refrigerator magnets, shirts, Native American items, and old fashioned candies that you don't find anymore. It was fun to see the mythical town still alive with the Cicely's gift shop. For visitors who make the trek to this make believe town, it's nice to know there is a place keeping the dream alive. I opened the door, smiling & excited for a fun shopping experience; got NO hello even though I happily said "hii how are ya" when I walked in. The old grouchy guy behind the counter was scowling like I was an intrusion. I found a couple items I might easily have bought, but have a hard time spending my hard earned money at establishments with rude owners/emoyees. When your mother tells you this time when she's visiting she wants to see Northern Exposure like towns what's a daughter to do? She drives her to Northern Exposure like towns. After filling up with some tasty dim sum from Top Gun we get back on I-90 and stay on until exit 80. We arrive in Roslyn and I park next to the infamous Roslyn Cafe mural, my mother not being a walker is content sitting in the car so we drove around. I was smart enough to print off some useful Northern Exposure information before heading out so I could identify Maggie's houses, Ed's Apartment, Maurice's house and other random Cicely places. To make the trip complete we stopped in the Cicely's Gift Shop, a shop with all things Northern Exposure, along with some antiques, knickknacks and Roslyn souvenirs. My mother found some gifts for people back home and the gentleman working that day asked 20 questions. At first I was a bit annoyed I wasn't in the mood to answer 20 question but than he said I was a wonderful daughter for bringing my mother all the way out there and I was no longer annoyed because HELLO I am a wonderful daughter! If you are ever looking for some random Northern Exposure souvenir this is your shop. read more

* Tacky gift shop * While it is fun to see Dr. Joel Fleischman's office from Northern Exposure fame, this little gift shop is trying to live in the past of a show that not too many people know anymore. The town of Roslyn has moved on from its Northern Exposure fame mostly, but this little shop is still trying to cling to the past down to the old photo of Rob Morrow on the wall. I stopped in here because I'm a HUGE FAN OF NORTHERN EXPOSURE and I wanted to see the "office where Joel worked," on the show which is this store. I was pleased. The owner, an older lady, and her son, were FULL of Northern Exposure trivia and facts and the son was actually on a few episodes. This place is a MUST SEE if you're a fan of the show. If you are NOT a fan of the show, you might want to go elsewhere because there's nothing terribly unique about this place. BUT, if you want a licensed Northern Exposure t-shirt or hoodie or bumper sticker, this is your place. Note the "Joel Fleishman" is still painted on the front window glass. And Marilyn's office desk and chair are still here. Also, Joel's office is still here, though it's covered with a bunch of crap, posters, etc. so you have to really look for it. My only complaint, is that they need to focus on more Northern Exposure and Rosyln stuff and not sell anything else. People who go here are going to be going here because they are tourists either into local history (the mine, etc.) or Northern Exposure, so why not just cater to that exclusively. read more

We stopped in here to browse for memorabilia of our visit. This gift shop leaves a little to be desired for actual "Roslyn" gear and gifts. There is a lot more "Northern Exposure" gear here, and a few t-shirts for the local bars and eateries (such as The Brick Tavern- Oldest continually operated Tavern in WA state) are available as well. I was looking for either a "Northern Exposure" pin or a Roslyn pin. The only pins of any kind that they carried were white Easter looking bunny rabbits. Oh well. The man working the register was very nice and eager to chat with us. Apparently he commutes from Tukwila to work the shop once a week. That story was the most interesting part about the shop. read more

This gift shop is part of what makes Roslyn, Roslyn. As the store front was featured on "Northern Exposure", it's super awesome to walk in and see all the gifts inside. Not to mention, there are a variety of gifts here. From jams and chocolates to tshirts and more expensive gifts like unique furniture. The woman who runs this store is delightful and no doubt spends all day every day talking about Northern Exposure. I stood in line behind 3 woman content on talking about the show for 10 minutes and neither party skipped a beat. I asked her for a pay phone because I was stranded and needed to call someone. She pointed me at two I had tried already that were non functional. The wad of quarters I had in my hand indicated I would pay to use the phone right behind her but she didn't offer. So sad. Oh well the office is cool I love Northern Exposure and was delighted to see Marlyn's desk and chair there. Along with Joel's office etc. But the stuff in the store is all over the place. My wife & I visited Roslyn,Wa. in Sept.,2017 & had to see the Cicely,Ak. gift shop. Steve(who was the owner/sales clerk) told us he was a fourth generation(his family came from Europe) of the people who have run the place & he was very friendly & knowledgeable about Roslyn. It was something to see where the outdoor shots of "Northern Exposure" was filmed: we found out the indoor shots were filmed in Redmond(close to Seattle). It's a nice quiet place to visit! read more

I love this place. The owners are very nice, and the store is packed with Northern Exposure (NX) merch. It's not perfect, but what do you expect in a small town with store based on a T.V. a cult following from 25 years ago? You could say move on, but some of us are happier blooming where we are planted. As for me, I'm happy calling them up and ordering something after talking to them. I'll probably do that soon. Love. I visited Roslyn in 2012, and it was the dream of a lifetime for a Northern Exposure fan. I went during the last week of September and seemed to have the town to myself. When I visited the gift shop, Al was working and we had a pleasant chat. Everything about the experience was all that I imagined it would be, so top marks for Cicely's Gift Shop. My only suggestion is to get a website with a full inventory to order from, especially NX merchandise. read more

Talk about customer service!!!! My friends and I were there for a bike ride at Suncadia. Little did we know it was Moosefest weekend in Roslyan. My friend was so excited to get a Northern Exposure shirt!! The Ciciley gift shop was closed , we were leaving town, couldn't wait till 11 when they opened. So I called the # and she says "I'll be right there" . In about 1 minute she was there !!! My friend got 2 shirts. What a fun shop!!! A bunch of people in town for the Moosefest came in to shop . It was fun. Thanks for opening for us!!!!! I'm now going to get all the episodes and binge watch!!! read more
