What a great experience! My friends and I visited Cigar Roller Academy for the first time last night. This will not be our last time, we're destined to become regulars! To begin with, The owner, Chris is Uber knowledgeable about cigars, as he studied and learned his craft in Cuba. Chris started by giving us a brief lesson about the tobacco leaf and the rest was history, we got our roll on! The Roll n' Sip class was great! We learned how to wrap 3 cigars with excellent quality imported tobacco leaves. Roll Master Chris was funny, knowledgeable with years of professional cigar making experience, and willing to help beginners make sure their rolls were done well. BYOB was a nice gesture. I also really enjoyed how we were in his store with cigars he personally rolls every Sunday. I tried one of his cigars and it was definitely one of the best (if not the best) cigars I have ever had. Chris (owner/master roller) was an excellent teacher and we learned a lot about rolling but also about Cuba. The atmosphere was very chill and sounds of Cuban music played in the background. We rolled, had friendly competition, great conversation and tasty libations (we brought ourselves.) I even tried this flavored cigar and surprisingly enjoyed it. I was surprised with a Groupon gift to attend one of the Roll N Sip class. The location is in the tougher part of LA, but fairly easy to find. We were greeted by our Master Roller Chris, his cigars, & awesome Cuban music. Chris made us feel comfortable and treated us to some super smooth Cuban rum even though we brought our own whiskey. There were just 3 of us total on a Thursday night class, it felt more personal. Chris is super cool and super knowledgeable. Not only does he roll amazing cigars, he is passionate about the culture and art of cigar rolling. He kept mentioning about how important it was to move the culture and art forward. It was a pleasure not to be taught by the only Master Roller in SoCal, but from Chris himself. His explanations in his teachings was easy to understand and follow. We rolled 3 cigars while sipping our drink of choice or drinks that he provides. It is tougher than it looks and I had trouble rolling a smooth cigar, nonetheless Chris made the experience fun. After all the rolling, we were able to smoke one of our fresh rolled cigar. I like smoking cigars, but I am not knowledgeable of them. The cigar was so smooth and it was definitely nice to end my night with cigars and rum. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. FANTASTIC experience as everyone else has already said. TOTALLY earned his consistent 5star reviews. What I would like to add is that since he offers so many varieties of cigar leaves (almost 15), I asked about his faves/ most unique leaves. He mentioned Ethiopian, Nigerian, Cameroon and some other countries that don't readily come to most of our minds. I like flavored cigars (I sense you all judging me)...... But he weened me into an unflavored Cameroon cigar paired with spiced rum and Hunneyyyyyy, it was absolutely divine!!! Point is- Not only is the experience great but be OPEN MINDED about what countries you request. Cubans are cool but some of the best cigars are absolute hidden gems in plain sight!! read more

This was a fantastic experience. I've never smoked cigars but wanted to try this class with a friend who does. We had so much fun. Chris, Chris and Shawana were so fun and very helpful. The music was great and added to the experience. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. I had my first experience smoking with my first cigar I rolled.
