Fantastic neighborhood pet store. The rewards program kept me coming back, but now I stay for the staff. While other stores are either apathetic or trying too hard, Ciji's is self-assured. Staff are always informative and helpful about the products when I need it. Whenever I'm in a bind with a personal or pet problem, they've had my back. When my new dog, a husky mix, needed puzzles to keep him busy, they helped me choose a good fit for him. When I needed to buy pet food for dog boarding, and found myself short on time, they let me come in a few minutes past closing to do the pickup. When I hurt my shoulder, they helped me carry my big bags of dog food to my car down the block (parking can be an issue when it's the dinner rush for the nearby restaurants). You know, the least thing that would be expected while coming to a pet store and spending $60 every time I walk in would be a simple. HELLO, Can I help you with anything. Nope! Not a welcome, NOTHING. But let me being 7months carry a 40lb of dog food without an offer to even assist. Matter of fact. I ended up cutting my finger struggling to get out of the front door while carrying the dog food. I have been to another pet store local in Denver and have ALWAYS been offered to assist me. Even a simple hello has always been granted. But they do not carry the dog food I had to switch over to recently. Fast forward to a couple months.... I called to ask for pricing and the person who answered the phone is the same person who didn't greet or assist with carry out and is again, very unfriendly. I live in an animal house. With 3 cats and a Bernese Mountain Dog we need a lot of pet supplies and Ciji's is where we get them mostly. They have a great assortment of foods, especially if you have animals with troublesome tummies like us (dog = chicken allergy and we used to have a cat with a grain allergy.) Beyond the foods they have good options for snacks and toys, too. Plus the people working there are really lovely and make excellent recommendations, both for products they sell and other general pet-related items, such as a good doggie daycare. They aren't officially open on Sundays, but sometimes someone is there from noon to 3. Give them a call and if they are there, you can let them know you are coming in to pick up some food and they'll wait for you. read more

I've been shopping at dog supply stores for the last 20 yrs. Ciji's wins the prize for THE most unfriendly staff, not helpful and seem annoyed to be employed. There is zero acknowledgement of paying customers, zero offer of help assist carrying several large dog food bags to the car (with the store empty and 2 staff members at the counter). This has been going on for years and I have vowed to never darken the door of this establishment unless absolutely necessary which happened once a few months ago and guess what? NOTHING has changed. The culture here is awful in regards to customer service and helpfulness. When I (again) tried to support them a couple years ago, they were consistently out of a particular food I needed. The female employee who has worked there for several years (with previous owner) said she could order it for me. I specifically said that I could not feed a particular protein and while any other protein was fine, DO NOT order this particular protein. I got a call that my order was in, 3 huge bags of guess what? Yep, the protein I said I could not feed. And the woman calling was the one I had placed the order with. There was "I'm sorry, let me reorder it correctly" nothing. In fact, didn't even offer and just hung up. They know little to absolutely about pet nutrition and it shows. Drive a little further East to Chewy's Bonetique for excellent customer service, excellent advice on pet nutrition, problem solving solutions for behavioral issues and amazing customer service. read more

Today was my first visit to Ciji's, with my grandpup King, and I absolutely loved the store. I was greeted warmly by Sal, who also helped me find tasty treats for our beloved pet. The store is clean, neatly arranged and has a large variety of pet supplies, at reasonable prices. Pat was also very friendly and playful with King, who made out with some treats too. The place is packed, and I do mean packed with everything. It's almost daunting how cluttered it is, but what I like about it is they have everything you need. Three great things happened today: 1. I found myself with free time. 2. I found myself in Park Hill 3. I found myself in the right area with the right time to visit Ciji's, finally! Bonnie asked if I needed help right away. I told her that I was just checking the store out, but that ultimately I'm also looking for a better food to switch my dogs to. I can only find Wysong at Whole Foods anymore, and it's giving my puppy the runs! Ciji's had a decent variety of organic and natural foods - Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Solid Gold, etc. The store caters to dogs and cats and does not sell live animals - a big plus for me. Bonnie suggested a supplement for my dogs since my puppy seems to get the runs after being on certain foods for so long. When it comes to fancy pet food stores, I've seen a few. Ciji's isn't the fanciest fancy pet food store I've been to, but it's one of the best. The folks over there are super knowledgeable and give great recommendations when you're looking for a little guidance. For example, we have a new puppy and as a family with no puppy experience, we really needed a little help on getting the right food for our little Ellie. Ciji's staff gave us a ton of samples to find something that was both healthy for our dog, but also something she enjoyed! And the gave me a ton of tips on good treats, and uses for them. I do love Cijis. They have an AMAZING selection of wet dog food (dry too but wet is what we needed). We didn't want to go with the 'commercial' brands that have fillers and whose recipes can vary based on what's cheapest when they are buying ingredients. Our puppy doesn't seem too picky and her digestion is pretty good so my husband went to Cijis and purchased a handful of options to try. He got help from the owner in choosing initially (since neither of us have ever had a dog before). She was so well versed and educated in all of her products! Our puppy liked everything he brought home! I went in again to refill the puppy pantry and had an awesome experience as well. The owner is very kind but doesn't smother you with too much attention or 'enthusiasm' which I really appreciate. She helps you, gives you the information you need, and then let's you make your own choices. I also appreciate the diversity of products, brands I have never seen any where else (including a Kosher for Passover dog food that our puppy LOVES)! I love supporting local businesses and I love that Cijis, our vet (Park Hill Vet) and other dog centric local businesses are down the street from our home! Got a new doggie and we stop by Ciji's every once in a while. They LOVE the dogs that visit their store and consistently ask me if I need any help. The store is mom-and-pop sized but they have it packed with tons of different brands of pet food, treats, toys, etc. They also have a refridgerator for fresh wet food etc.. Ciji's has a great selection of quality food, treats, and accessories for dogs and cats. Our dogs love to visit Bonnie and Karen! We've even seen Karen out walking dogs for some of their customers! They are always fine tuning the food selection to keep up with innovations in the pet food industry, and they always help to pick out something that keeps our dogs healthy and happy. It seems as if they carry everything possible, but of course they can't. What they don't have, they can usually special order. The store is located in a string of shops tucked into Park Hill. Off of 23rd at Kearney, the area is an accessible fun neighborhood with lots to eat and plenty of parking. read more

I've been going to Cijis for a few years now and thought I'd write a review. I love this place and the people that work there. They are always friendly to me. I have an elderly dog and she has a few problems so when I have a question on a supplement or medication alternative, they have the answer. They also like to send me home with "extras" for my dog too which makes my dog smile...at least I think thats a smile. read more

The owner and other staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and remember my dogs every time! They carry all the brands of food we buy - Taste of the Wild dry food, and Merrick canned - and are very reasonably priced compared to some places. Also have the best selection of chews like bully sticks I've seen. I enjoy going here much better than larger chain stores where they don't have the same amount of education and experience. I have been in three times hoping that the customer service would improve, since the store is located close to my house. Alas, it has has not. The salesperson, who was there all three times, is very rude and condescending. Do not expect to receive any helpful or useful information on any of the products. I think Chewy's Bonetique is much better. This place was small, cramped and felt awkward. The staff for it being a small place was not friendly or unfriendly, just average. This surprised me due to the spectacular reviews , I suppose I was expecting fabulous service and got service that was below what you'd expect at Petsmart or Petco. Definitely won't be returning but could see how if I lived within walking distance this would be a convenient and perhaps merit a better review. read more
