I am sorry that is the case because I ended up buying a pound of coffee while I was there because the Chimney Rock blend I found was absolutely excellent! I recommend that also while there grab a bag of coffee to take home. I have stuck to just buying the Shut Eye (decaf - which is far from boring), but I just bought a bag of Chimney Roast (a darker roast) for the mornings caffeine are a necessity p. I don't care for darker roasted coffee normally. I have had a lot of bitter or burnt tasting darker roasts. This is not one. At all. I do believe this will become a staple in our household. read more

Eric and the barista there really know their stuff. I had the best expresso in my life there, and that is saying a lot since I live in a serious coffee town (Portland, OR). I stopped in today to buy some beans for my espresso machine. What a find! This place is serious about roasting the best beans and making excellent coffee. Eric, the owner, asked me what characteristics I look for in coffee beans and talked through the options that were available. I chose a single-origin Kenyan roast and immediately went home and made a single espresso. Delicious. It poured perfectly and had a nice crema, fragrant aroma and excellent taste. I can't comment on his espresso drinks (yet), but his beans are stellar. I look forward to trying another roast when this one runs out. For a small town, Montrose has a fair number of coffee shops. Even if you're a loyal supporter of the others, give Cimarron Coffee Roasters a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wow. Finally world class coffee roasting on the western slope! Pour overs are the norm and espresso shots of all there different varieties make picking out bags of beans easy. This place is also home to their roaster so it smells amazing too. Oh, they also had fresh baked goods and breakfast burritos on hand. read more

Stop by this shop if you appreciate good coffee done well. Great space, inviting owner/employees, and a well balanced cup of coffee. I had the pour over with a Rwandan origin. The flavor profile was as described and it was a perfect suggestion. You can tell that every part of the process is important to this roastery - as a former barista in the specialty coffee industry, I don't give 5 stars lightly.
