This place, by far, was my favorite restaurant we ate while visiting Ouray. Service was excellent, our server was super fun and kind. The place is decorated with super cool hand made items. Onto to the important part. We got some delicious bread and butter to start with, then the tomato bisque came out (Chef's kiss), for my main dish I had the veggie lasagna. My husband and I dined at Bella Vino yesterday for our anniversary. I ordered the Tuscan Garlic Chicken which was DIVINE! The chicken melted in my mouth, the sauce was amazing and the pasta was perfect. Our server, Melissa was very professional, friendly and attentive. The wine was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy yet sophisticated. They graciously accepted my service dog who was being a bit of a snit that night (not like her at all) I can't wait for our next trip, we will definitely be dining here again! read more

Always like to go here. It was date night tonight. They open at 5pm. Walked in at 5:15! The restaurant was empty. We did not have reservations and the young man at the front door was aloof and stand offish. Offered us the bar or outside dining despite the fact that the tables were open. We could have sat, ate and left before anyone else would have come in and ate. Ended up leaving and went to the White Buffalo where food and service was great. read more

We stopped by for dinner on our first night back in town. We sat out on the back patio and unfortunately, got a direct view of the persistent Gold Mountain Fire. We started our meal with a delicious Italian red wine and an order of mussels. The mussels were better than anticipated and we couldn't stop dipping our bread in the white wine and garlic broth! We opted for chicken piccata and tortellini for our main courses and the portions were large enough to provide us with lunch the next day! Overall, it was a perfect start to our Ridgway stay and will go back again before heading back home. read more

Good Italian food with a great view of the mountains but very slow service. We went to Bella Vino around 7pm on a Wednesday night in early September. We were seated immediately at an outdoor table with a beautiful view of the mountains. First, I'll say that the food was good to very good. The Bear Creek Mushrooms appetizer was large but nothing particularly special. It was a larger potion but didn't have much seasoning. My wife had the Lasagna Luciano, which she said was very good. It's a vegetarian lasagna and a very large portion. At the waiter's suggestion, I had the Pork Tenderloin Marsala. This was excellent. It was a very large entree with two large pieces of pork and a serving of pasta. My wife and I both took food to-go. Unfortunately, that was partly because we waited so long to get our food that we were just tired and ready to leave. There seemed to be a lot of busy waitstaff at the tables around us but our service was very slow. It took 5 to 10 minutes for our waiter to come. We ordered two glasses of wine and the mushroom appetizer to start. It took almost 10 minutes for the wine to come, another 10 for the mushrooms. We usually wait until we get our appetizers before ordering entrees because the food tends to come out too fast at many restaurants. That was a mistake here because a different server, not our waiter, brought the appetizer. So we had to wait at least another 15-20 minutes before our server came to take our entree order. We were well over an hour into our meal when our entrees finally came. They were hot and fresh so they had just been cooked, thankfully not just sitting out. The prices were on the moderate side ($14 for mushrooms, $22 for lasagna, $34 for pork marsala) and the food quality was very good. The service was just too slow for us to enjoy the meal because it seemed like we were waiting a lot of the time. Our waiter asked if we wanted more wine, which we didn't. Thankfully, we got to watch a beautiful sunset on the mountains. We just wish the pacing of the service had been a little quicker. All in all, a very nice restaurant and worth a visit when you're in Ridgway. read more

Wonderful! First time here. Cute, charming little Italian place. My sister and I are visiting on vacation. This place got great reviews as it should. We had a wonderful experience. Food was amazing and fresh. Service was great. Clean. We received fresh hot sourdough bread quickly. I ordered the Rosa Tortellini. I received a nice crisp house salad with my meal. You do get a lot of food for the money. My sister got the salmon and said it was absolutely wonderful. We would eat here again if we visit this area again. Highly recommend. read more

Sat at the bar and had an awesome dining experience. Apparently we lucked out as they had just added Prosciutto wrapped Cantilop as an app. That is our go to when in Italy and available. Little did we know it was going to be the entire Cantilop. Huge portion but absolutely delicious. The cracked black pepper was a nice touch. My wife had the special, trout, and I had the Beef Wellington. Both were outstanding and the beef was perfectly prepared. Good wine list as well as good cocktails. Screaming Eagle Merlot available those of you with a bit larger budget than ours. Had the Bread Pudding with a scoop of Coffee ice cream for dessert. It was awesome. Bella Vino, STAT! Listen up peeps...if you loved the "BonTon" as much as we did in Ouray, then you're in for a treat! The ONLY thing different about this place is the name and a slightly bigger and new location. Otherwise Bella Vino continues their BonTon tradition in Ridgway serving up some of the best fine dining and Italian cuisine around town! We were not surprised how great the service and food was...5+ stars all-around! Came here with some friends and here's what we ordered: -Lasagna Luciano -Tuscan Garlic Chicken -Filet Mignon -House Salad with Grilled Chicken They also serve a really delicious freshly baked bread roll with garlic butter...yum! Overall the ambiance was warm, comfortable and cozy. The front room where the bar is had table seating...the back dining room appeared to have a combo of both table and booth seating. As the weather warms up, they have a nice outside area with awesome mountain views! Some extra Bella Vino tidbits: -They are family owned and operated...and y'all know how much I love to support my local businesses! -They offer gluten free and vegetarian options. -Highly recommend making a reservation! We chose one night to go somewhere upscale/ fancier for our week vacation trip. We had 3 places narrowed down in Ouray and Ridgeway. 2 of the 3 were this company's same-ish owners / food (bon ton and Bella vino). The food pictures and menu looked phenomenal that we for sure wanted Bella Vino and didn't even know what to get because there as so many good options to choose from! They also had great reviews. I was even MORE excited because they offered gluten free options that included appetizers and pasta! Pros- food options, reservations day of, cook time, serving sizes, food quality Cons- lack of flavor/ seasoning, steak special and an appetizer was sold out within hour of opening, small inside with seating , wait area and dining decor and furniture are random and outdated/ cheap for the vibe and pricing they're suppose to be Appetizer: scallop pot pie. I thought it was going to be a lasagna style but it's on top of a sauce with scallops on outside with spinach and puff pastry on top. Not gluten free but my mom liked it. Salads: Cesar and the best I ever had. So good I didn't get a picture. Big serving size too. Entrees: 1) mixed grill which consisted of steak and shrimp with cream cheese mashed potatoes and green beans. Mashed potato's were really good and it was fresh green beans with grass fed steak and the shrimp were big. Very good. 2) gluten free scallop fettuccini alfredo. Serving size was good. Loveeee the option of having gluten free fettuccini. Scallops you only got 4 and paid $9 to add them on and got a lottttttt more mushroom than protein. Flavor I was disappointed. It was basically a butter/ oil sauce than Alfredo. It had not much of a flavor and zero seasoning. They don't put any parmesan in and she grated it at the table. It was creamier and not bad. I did eat probably half but I wouldn't get that again. Dessert: forgot the name but it was a chocolate pie with whipped cream on a raspberry drizzle and the waitress suggested to add raspberry sorbet. It was very rich, thick, and didn't have much of flavor. Overall it wasn't bad but for the pricing and one and only night we did "fancy" I wish I chose a different dish or place to eat. read more

House salad with creamy rosemary Parmesan dressing was really good - I didn't try because it had a lot of really good Gorgonzola - if you like such cheeses :) The Caesar salad was good - they asked if I wanted anchovies in it, and I tried that for the first time. Very salty of course, but it was good. The Beef Wellington was very tasty (might be the first time I've eaten this, so nothing to compare). The scallop pot pie was really good. She had the Rose paste (forget name) which was good - "not as good as the scallop pot pie" Service was great, and the atmosphere was nice - we ate outside. read more

This is a quality Family run business who are hands on and it shows. We did not have a reservation on a busy Saturday night...but they accommodated us anyway when the place was packed with people who were better clued in than we were on how important a Reservation is if you want a quality Italian meal in Ouray county! A problem with two of the three dishes ordered......including the expensive beef wellington ($58). Original dinner order included mussels -- but we learned they were out of these after finishing appetizers. A shortage of staff that evening (common mountain town issue) and an abundance of flies (despite mitigation efforts) -- were another unfortunate part of the experience. But the frosting on the cake was the owner's advice on our concerns (and advice for future diners) -- inform the waiter of any problems with the dishes and they will redo the order(s) -- once you find the waiter. If you don't do this and have an unpleasant experience -- the cost of the dinner will be the same either way and the prices are handsome. Best of luck. read more

We had the best dinner at Bella Vino a few nights ago. Our server Lisa gave us superb service including giving us plenty of time to enjoy each course. The creamy parmesan dressing on the house salad was to die for. My husband also loved his roasted red pepper soup. I had the special mahi mahi (with crab topping) and husband ordered the eggplant parmesan. Both meals were great, but we decided to completely finish off the fish plate so we could enjoy the eggplant as leftovers. We sat in the comfy "booth for 2" and enjoyed every minute of our meal. Having dined at Bella Vino Restaurant twice, I have a mixed review. Service was outstanding both visits. On the first visit, the food was as outstanding as the service--crisp salad with dressing lightly tossed, perfect balance in the Italian dishes, partner said beef was superb. Second visit not so terrific. Salad wilted and drenched with dressing, heavy, stodgy parmesan. Pasta was good, but overpowered by the marinara and parm. Different cook? Sorry for this review but I didn't think it was take great. Not only is it very over priced but the food wasn't great either. They over charged for my wine (doubled). The Elk was very tough, if you don't care for wheat noodle you can ask for regular noodles but the will charge you $4 extra without telling you of the extra charge.
