We did a bit of research, and decided to check out the adorable Gubser Tree Farm. We were not disappointed! We drove up to the farm, and we were immediately greeted by one of the owners, who encouraged us to grab a saw and check out the trees. There were green tags attached to the trees that were eligible to cut down ... with prices ranging from $60-$70. Anyone who's cut down their own Christmas tree knows that these are usually upwards of $100 - so this is quite a deal. The trees themselves all seemed well taken care of - and we had a hard time selecting which one we liked, since there were a few we had our eyes on. We went with a thicker tree that's around 7' tall, and it cost us $70. After we cut down the tree, the owners wrapped it up for us, and tied it to the top of our car. They were quick, friendly, and efficient. We paid for the tree inside of a little craft shop, and if we hadn't been in a bit of a hurry, we would have certainly been tempted by the homemade zucchini bread. All in all, it's safe to say a visit to Gubser Tree Farm is going to become our new holiday tradition!

It's a drive for us, but it was worth it! The workers were very helpful and friendly. The selection of trees were great. We were looking for a Canaan Fir. The selection was slim to cut your own down in tbe section we were looking in. However, they had alot of pre cut Canaan Fir trees to choose from. It was a hard decision since so many looked great! We had purchased one of their tree stands and they put it on the tree for us! They loaded it in our trunk. When we got home we unloaded it and brought it right into our living room and set it right up! It is perfect! The prices were good. We love our tree!

It is a great family owned business that they are passionate about. *Disclaimer* this IS a cut your own tree place. That means going out into the fields, finding your tree, cutting it, and bringing it back to the lot. For me, that is part of the experience, and they DO help you by shaking it, netting it, and will assist getting it on/in your car if needed. If you're down with this keep reading! From the moment you arrive you are greeted by the helpful owner and a trusty sweet old black lab. There is a small building with free popcorn and hot chocolate. They provide saws or you can bring your own. There are a huge selection of trees from small to super tall. They have several different types of trees as well. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I found out last year that dogs are welcome leashed, as long as they are well behaved so this year I brought my husky. As mentioned above you cut your tree and carry it back to the stand where they get it ready for you. They do provide twine for tying it to your car as well. Each year a free dated ornament is given to you upon checkout, which I find charming. Sometimes they even have homemade wreaths for sale. Their prices are SUPER reasonable, far more than that tree lot with trees that have been cut for months and wont last long.

Bohman's is a great, locally owned Christmas tree farm that offers a variety of Christmas trees at a reasonable price. They have free peanuts and candy canes, so make sure you stock up for your tractor ride through the fields to get to your destination. The staff are friendly and there to answer any questions you may have. Try the apple cider - it's Devine! And be on the lookout for you bargain hunters like me. Every now and then you'll find a "discount tree" that's around $10-$15 cause it had a random spot missing or something of that sort. (Nothing that a wall can't hide!)

Their houseplant selection is incredible. The greenhouse is bright and clearly well maintained. It's one of those places where you can wander around for a while just admiring everything they have. I've picked up starter vegetables like tomatoes here before and they grew beautifully in my garden. Another fun part of the store is their gift shop. They have lots of nature themed decorations, fairy garden pieces, and small garden accessories that are really cute. They also have a big selection of ceramic pots along with concrete statues and garden decor. Every time I stop in, I always leave with more than I planned because everything here is so great.
