Autumn special - I went here with daughter's family and thought it would be better than it was. At least admission was free and you paid for corn maze, peddle cars, etc. they had basic food but cider was only from a cooler and it was a chilly day. I expected to go to Shaw Farm and spend a ton of money since it's such a hot commodity. The drive in is nice, on Sunday afternoon there were two police out directing traffic in and out of the farm. There's ample free parking but on a busy day, it could be quite a walk for those in a wheelchair/cane walker. There's a walkway path which makes it easily accessible but still a decent walk. Once you get to the farm, it is staged perfectly for little ones! My 16mo had a blast running through the different staged wood figures. The farm itself is free but the activities cost money (which is where I thought I'd rack up $$$). We took a horse drawn carriage ride for about 15 minutes through the cornfield for $5 each. There's so much running around to do that we didn't spend any other money than that, besides for our pumpkin! There's a few goats out to pet, and a barrel ride that costs extra but we didn't do it since the little one was happy with the big wooden house, school, tractor, pumpkin, ship, etc. We picked a pumpkin out of the $2.50 bin. It's small and decently priced. Unfortunately pumpkins are so expensive these days but knowing it's going to a family business is nice! The same size pumpkins that Kroger sells for $5 costs $8 at Shaw. Inside the barn are baked goods, apple cider, decor. Something for mom to check out while the kiddos play. Expect a packed house, though! read more

For my purposes I was slightly disappointed with my first visit here. I had come for Cider, which they were completely out of and the big overtone here was tourist trap, the shop itself was full of princess gifty items geared towards the kids and some over priced fall/halloween items for parents. They did have a very cute pumpkin-land setup for the kids. I purchased some tomatoes, potatoes, gourds, and a very reasonably priced mum that was huge and in good shape. I will be back to try again, but would avoid weekends due to crowds. read more

The weather was perfect to take our little one out for her first pumpkin patch visit this past weekend! We chose Shaw Farms because it looked like they had lots of kids activities and it was free to get in. We weren't disappointed! Upon arriving on a Saturday afternoon we could see this place is a great family day destination in the fall. There was plenty of parking (in the grass), and areas roped off to walk between the cars for safety. Because it was free to enter we were able to just walk right in and see the activities available. There was hop scotch, little scenes to climb on and take photos with. There was a shop with fall decor. Behind the shop there was a barn with snacks to buy -- of course they had apple cider and warm, fresh donuts. There was a corn maze and hayrides, and animals to see (not a petting farm). So many things for the little ones! Our baby girl is still to young for a lot of this stuff, but we enjoyed seeing all the other kids having fun. Our friends got a half dozen donuts and we bought a gallon of cider. (Pro tip, buy the half or full gallons in the shop instead of buying cider by the cup at the snack stand. You'll save a lot of money and probably have leftovers to take home. If you're going to do this definitely bring your own cups!) After our snacks we took some photos and left. We look forward to returning when our little one is a bit older and can do some running around. Shaw Farms is beautiful, closer than many of the other farm/orchard/pumpkin patch destinations and has just as much to offer. We can't wait to return next fall! read more

I had been dying to go to a pumpkin patch this fall, but was having a hard time finding time on the weekend, but luckily for us - Shaw is open till 7pm during October, so it was hard to pass up a visit for a weekday date night. It's a bit of a hike from the city, but worth it for an afternoon/evening with pumpkins, corn mazes, live animals and hay rides. We found ourselves lost in the maze, per usual, but found a trusty GPS map on the Shaw Farms website to escape. We spent the rest of our visit walking around the pumpkin "patch" taking pictures and enjoying all the scenes set as children's classics (Wizard of Oz, Aladdin, Flinstones, among others). If you're trying to avoid the commotion on weekends, I recommend going during the week. There's something for all ages and it's definitely worth the drive if only for a "basic" shot sitting on a pile of pumpkins. read more

This is the best pumpkin farm in Ohio. We've moved, so it might have changed but when we lived there they had the absolute best displays ... All kinds of life sized characters made out of pumpkins+, pumpkins in the field and picked for convenience, a corn maze, hay rides, a farm market, plus they carried apples from the apple farm down the road. (Be sure to go there too.) If it hasn't changed, anyone who gives it less than 5 ... maybe 4 stars is not only spoiled but super picky. read more

We always love our annual trip to Shaw Farms in Milford. It's a family tradition to visit their pumpkin patch and enjoy the other activities the farm has to offer. One of the nice things is it doesn't cost to get in, you just have to pay extra for the hayride, tracker pull, and other activities. The kids can run around and play with one another cost free! The pumpkins are normal pumpkin patch prices, but you obviously would pay more for the experience than you would at a Kroger. If you're looking for fun Fall activities with your kids, this is your place! read more

First timer this morning. I will say if you can go during the week it may help avoid the crowds. It was a bit crowded at about 11am on a Saturday BUT not ridiculous in my opinion for one of the first nice Saturdays of the fall. Huge selection of pumpkins at relatively reasonable prices unless you want a super fancy one (Tri colored and large, etc). Got two large pumpkins for carving for $8 each. The large ones go up from there if you want perfectly symmetrical, etc. also got a beautiful soft orange/peachy one for $4 and a small white one for $4 and striped more yellow orange and green one for $1.75. Plus if you print a coupon online, spend $15 and get a free small ($2) pumpkin. Also tons of cute activities for kiddos and animals for petting and a church was handing out free cider samples. This is a family favorite to celebrate our mom's birthday and get in the fall spirit! Out front there are character pumpkins and structures, which make for great photo opportunities. Scattered about are pumpkins of all sizes, including really giant pumpkins. Out back there are hay and horse-drawn carriage for all ages and tractor rides through the pumpkin patch for kids. There are barns of bluegrass music and a little stand of fair food (aka fried stuff). Nearby at picnic tables we saw some birthday parties. There's a corn maze and farm animals in pens. In the barn where you pay for your pumkins, you can find apple cider from Rousters and homemade fudge, but what I wish they had were homemade apple or pumpkin-type cookies or treats. Overall, it is a great place to enjoy a little slice of fall because there's something for everyone! read more

Great place for some family fall fun! I like how there is free admission and you can choose to buy activities a la carte. Free entertainment includes pumpkin patches, petting zoo, life size decorations with great photo opportunities, blue grass band in the barn. There is a food stand with popcorn, hotdogs, fries, funnel cake, etc. You can buy pumpkins (of course!), jams, cider, fresh veggies, flowers. Activities include a corn maze, tractor ride, horse drawn hay ride, go carts, barrel train, all reasonably priced. It is busy enough where they do have people directing traffic in the parking lot. Gone here the past 3 years to pick pumpkins. There is just something nice about the half hour drive out there to get away from it all. There is more then enough parking, but be careful if you go when the ground is wet because it is a hay field so you will be rather muddy if it rained recently. I learned this the hard way one year. It is a real family friendly place. There are little mazes for kids to wonder through, a tour through the pumpkin patch and a horse drawn carriage ride. There is also a food and beverage cart and neat farm products and what not in the covered barn where you check out. They also take debit or credit so don't worry if you forget cash. My kids are getting too old for this place but we've been coming to Shaw farm for years so I decided to write a review. This is great for young children; LOTS of photo oppurtunities. They've added lots of activities- a corn maze, hay ride, etc. There's a petting zoo, oppurtunites to purchase halloween items, apple cider, cookies, etc. Lots of parking but on a nice weekend, this place is packed!! Big variety of pumpkins and gourds. If I had to add a neg, I would say their pumpkin prices are slightly high. Which I don't understand for the volume they do. They could lower their pumpkin prices about .75-$1.00 each. Also, on a busy day, they could possibly add a couple people to monitor the parking lot. (if they do offer this, I've not seen it. But there are cars and children everywhere so be careful pulling in and out please!!! read more

My first time to bring my daughter and family to this farm. We had great time there. It's free for parking and enter, except the tractor ride $3 or horse ride $4. I highly recommend the tractor ride to see the pumpkins for holidays. They also have live band in the barn, and hot dogs, hamburgers for picnic. Great to pick the pumpkins and flowers too. read more

Perfect farm festival for families with little children. Biggest plus was there was absolutely no admission charge and all play areas were free! Downside was that lines were too long to wait in so we didn't buy any food or even a pumpkin. Only reason it wasn't 5 stars! A little far out for us, but I am glad we made the drive. There are lots of activities for children to do. All my children liked the cutouts. Even my older one got into them. They loved posing for goofy pictures with them. In the front are storybook/ movie/ t.v. themed cutouts. By the petting zoo and peddle cars are transportation themed cutouts. Around the back are farm and frontier themed scenes. The peddle cars were a hit with my older kids. Both horse drawn and tractor pulled hayrides are available. We went on the tractor pulled one. The ride was much longer than I anticipated. I overheard one of the employees saying that the corn maze is about 4 miles long. Near the maze entrance is a giant John Deer tractor that kids may climb on. Prices for pumpkins seemed reasonable. A large number of wagons to borrow. Perfect for toting around the perfect pumpkin or children. Drinks, snacks, funnel fries, hot dogs, and hamburger are available for purchase. Plenty of seating is available. There was a birthday party there that brought their own pizza. The farm store had produce, costume accessories, and Fall/ Halloween themed decor. I didn't spend too much time in there. Free parking and free admission as well. We easily could have spent a couple more hours at Shaw Farms, but it was nearing closing. read more

We've been going to Shaw Farms since I was a kid! Now having a kid myself I enjoy coming out here even more! There is so much for kids to do! Maze, rides, seeing animals, and different wooden play things! There is a variety of pumpkins to chose from. Some may think they are expensive but you are supporting a local family and their business so I don't mind to pay a little extra! It is worth is for my son to run around and have a great time! Shaw Farms is an amazing place to go for family fun. from picking a pumpkin to climbing on the wooden cut outs for pics to seeing the animals to shopping in the store to taking a hayride through the field and woods, to now doing pedal car races.... love this place. The best farm for fall activities around! You can bring the entire family to play, pick out pumpkins, play in the kids "village" and visit the farm animals for FREE! They have food and drinks available that are very inexspenisve and plenty of picnic tables. They also offer horse drawn and tractor pulled hayrides through the fields and woods. They also have a barrel train and tractor pedal track and a corn maze that are all very inexspensive as well. Tons and tons of great pumpkins and gourds available and of course apples and apple cider is sold in their store front. Everything is very spread out so even on a busy Saturday it is a great place to be compared to other farms I have been to during this season. Happy Fall! read more

A wonderful tradition for all ages! Especially if you have small children make it a point to stop by! You can spend a little or no money but either way it's free to get in and you'll have fun no matter what! Hay rides, a gift shop, lots of interactive yet simple play boards, farm animals, a maze, and of course, pumpkins! They're open every day too! If you prefer less crowds just go during the week. Amidst all the pumpkins, there are sets from different movies like The Wizard of Oz, Aladdin, and the Flintstones that kids can play around in and get their picture taken. Hay rides are available. Lots of live animals are on display. If you have the time, you can go in their big corn maze and hopefully find your way out. Inside a barn there was a bluegrass band playing some good tunes. A big food cart is set up for meals, snacks, and drinks. The prices for the pumpkins were higher than what I'd have to pay at Kroger, but it makes sense when you factor in how much entertainment they provide. read more

I have been coming to Shaws since the 1980s. Their painted pumpkins are amazing. I love that I can bring my dogs with me...and even lapped them and brought them along on the hay ride. Very family appropriate and kids love zoom8ng around to find the perfect pumpkin. Lines look long but they mover fadt...and by the checkout they usually have cider from a farm down the street for purchase! read more
