This place has been a staple in Newtown for forever and I've been coming here for years. I always love supporting locally owned businesses, and this one is absolutely worth the visit. Their houseplant selection is incredible. The greenhouse is bright and clearly well maintained. It's one of those places where you can wander around for a while just admiring everything they have. I've gotten some of my favorite plants here, and occasionally they will have a plant sale. They also carry a great variety of outdoor plants including herbs, flowers, and landscaping plants. I've picked up starter vegetables like tomatoes here before and they grew beautifully in my garden. Another fun part of the store is their gift shop. They have lots of nature themed decorations, fairy garden pieces, and small garden accessories that are really cute. They also have a big selection of ceramic pots along with concrete statues and garden decor. Every time I stop in, I always leave with more than I planned because everything here is so great. If you love houseplants, gardening, or just browsing a beautiful greenhouse, this place is definitely worth a visit. read more

I've always passed by but never stopped in. Since now we live closer, we noticed the mass statues selection they have outside. Can't help it, gotta check it out. They have EVERTHING you can think of... garden needs. Accessories, Mulch, soil, garden tools, indoor/outdoor plants, trees, perennials, annuals, the list goes on. Their farm and nursery is super huge. Everything is organized and set up in sections. Plus pricing is reasonable. If you bring your kids, there is a playground for them to play. I heard good things about this place in the fall. Supposedly pumpkin patches, kid rides and food. I definitely have to check it out. We ended up purchasing a large dragon statue for our front yard and a couple of air plants. I will be back for more plants for our yard. But this is a haven for garden lovers. I've been to Burger Farm a couple times before and liked it, so now that my lady and I live closer to it, we're stopping by more frequently. What's not to love about the place? They gave SO much to offer whether you're a gardener, a plant-lover, or just like things to make your yard look nice. My lady and I stopped by recently after seeing their great selection of concrete statues and we were looking for one for our house. There were so many different ones to choose from and all at pretty good prices. We decided on a dragon one that we both really liked. We also looked around more to see if they had any knockout roses just yet, but alas, we were too early this year. Still, my lady loved their countless tropical plants. I may go back to get a cobra nest pitcher plant because I love carnivorous plants. My lady ended up getting two very nice air plants to add to her collection. The staff were all very friendly and helpful too. If you have questions, they've got answers. I really like this place, especially since it's so close to where we live. I think my lady and I are gonna visit in the fall during their fall celebration because it's always fun then. read more

Went for the fall festival and it was pretty bad. They're selling pumpkins for 49 cents a pound, so if you get a big one, it's around $15. You can get similarly large pumpkins at Kroger 2 for $10. Here's the thing, they're the same pumpkins. Burger Farm isn't growing these pumpkins, they're buying them just like Kroger and spreading them out on the ground like they're fresh out of the field. If you look at the end of the parking lot you'll see all of the cardboard boxes full of pumpkins. It costs $15 per person to get into the fall fest now. That's pretty pricey, especially considering that doesn't even let you do everything. The rides, paintball, the pony ride, and craft booth all take tickets, which cost additional money. Our kids had fun, but we wouldn't waste our money on this again, because it's not a good value at all. read more

Lovely local nursery. Large selection of statues, as well as lawn ornaments. Many beautiful displays. At the time of our visit they were beginning the changeover from summer to fall plants and decor. As such, selection of plants was on the sparse side. Prices for mums are competitive. Medium sized mums are $8.99. Healthy looking plants, with lots of buds on them. Prices for other plans were on the high side. Still healthy looking. This year Burger Farms played host to the Cincinnati Public Library used book sale. Hats off to them for helping out the library. This outdoor venue worked well. Empty shelves were used for books in lieu of plants. It was easy to peruse all of the available media. Burger Farms is known for their Fall on the farm festivities. Not sure how much of that will be going on due to COVID-19. Ehat looks like the corn maze was standing tall. Burger farm is easy to find with plenty of parking and carts!! A family owned local nursery, all the staff are knowledgeable and helpful when choosing based on season, sun and my nemesis, deer. They always have plenty of options and colors. They've got a great selection of ceramic pots which is my go to place as my house plants need new pots. Their indoor area is large with lots of house options. They always have exactly what I need. read more

For the better half of two years, our family has used Burger Farm for our outdoor needs! Year round, Burger has a huge Rainbow playset in the back for littles to play on. When mine says she wants to go to "the Farm," I know she means Burger. During the summer you can shop for various plants and trees as well as pots, rakes, plant food, bulbs etc. The Fall brings a wide variety of pumpkins sold by weight. You can also find smaller pie pumpkins and gourds for a flat fee. Mini pumpkins are typically $1 each. There's also a fall festival that has since changed in the past year. It is has gotten too expensive so we don't attend but my little does still enjoy the hay maze and play set. Christmas season brings wreaths and Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes. Starting at $16.99 for a 3-5" tree and going up. They also have pre made wreaths and tinsel as well as tree stands, fairy garden supplies, ornaments, etc.. you can stop and pick up free hot cocoa or cookies while you're at it. The wonderful workers offer you a fresh cut and bundle up your tree while you pull into their drive through pick up. Overall, a nice family farm with one downfall: it can get pricey. read more

AMAZING experience selecting our Christmas Tree this year. They had so many options and sorted by size. It made it easy to narrow in on size and make a decision. My husband thought it was so helpful to drive through and they load the tree on or in your car. They have their system down and we appreciated the efficiency. This place is amazing. It's pretty much a one stop shop for anything fall related you could want. If you've got little ones (or your just super immature like me) you'll love this place! There is a hayride out to pick pumpkins, a puppet show, pony rides, small farm animals to see, a maze, bouncy house,clown, etc. I really enjoyed wandering up and down the aisles looking at all of the fall merchandise everywhere. I spent a lot of time contemplating where I could shove a scarecrow at home or how many pumpkins were "practical". Oh! I even got to hold a snake! I sampled some hot apple cider which really brought the whole fall experience full circle for me. There is a $2.00 admission at the front to enter but the hayride and puppet show are no extra cost. The rest of the rides/activities take tickets which can be purchased on site for about $1.50 a ticket. The hayride is decently long and takes you up to some pumpkins to look through. The little pumpkin pie pumpkins were $1.50 each and the larger pumpkins were $0.39 a pound. I really enjoyed myself and will make this a ritual every fall! read more

Burger has a great selection of plants for your garden, landscaping and house. We've purchased seedlings, mulch, garden tools and more over the last two years, and have been very impressed with what they have in stock as well as the service. My vegetable garden is thriving, the flowers are blooming, and the succulents I bought on a whim are actually still alive several months later (I am very bad at tending succulents, and willing to attribute this to the health of the original plants rather than any skill on my part). We were even able to get a hose extension and some other gardening tools this year, totally negating the need to visit the big orange box store. I've been coming to burger farms since I was a kid and I honestly love it. So why the 3 star review? Two reasons: fungus gnats & mealy bugs. If you're coming for their fall festival, getting outdoor plants, or purchasing your Christmas tree: 5 stars. But if you're looking to add new house plants to your collection, 2 stars. Some of the plants are fine, but mixed in are plants infested with mealy bugs and fungus gnats. I get it- new shipments come in and quarantining new plants in a green house is probably a pain in the butt. BUT- not everyone knows they need to quarantine new plants when they bring them home or that you need to inspect plants for pests before purchasing, at least so you know what you're getting yourself into. I purchased a huge, gorgeous string of pearls from Burger Farms last year and was thrilled to finally have one of my wish list plants. A week later, I discovered the mealy bugs. Thank goodness I had it quarantined away from my other plants (and used separate watering containers, etc), but trying to get rid of them is extremely frustrating to begin with- add on the teeny tiny spaces and tangles in a string of pearls and you have me melting down at 2 am with tweezers, alcohol, neem, and insecticidal soap. I eventually gave up. In their defense, they did offer to replace the string of pearls last year or give me pest control, but if one plant has pests it's likely others do, too. That was last year (12/2018). Today, I went with family to get our Christmas tree and I was so excited when I saw the indoor plant area had been redone. It looks amazing and there are some great plants in there- including cacti that are 30+ years old! I thought maybe the mealy big issue was a fluke and started picking out a Christmas cactus. Fungus gnats, fine, I have experience and can deal with those, but then I saw them- my arch nemesis- THE MEALY BUGS! So it seems they're not gone. It's super unfortunate and maybe it's just on the newer plants because they have a bunch of mature plants that look well taken care of (otherwise they might not be so mature!) Maybe think twice about getting a new houseplant from here unless you're experienced and patient enough to deal with pests- and you don't mind bringing home some lil bug friends that could eventually kill the plant and any others they come in contact with. read more

Burger Farm is an undiscovered east side treasure. This local farm has been locally owned and operated since 1904! I remember when I was little this place used to have a puppet show, and a pumpkin patch and that was about it (still awesome) but it has been amazing to watch it grow into what it is today. Also I love the fact that Mr. Burger himself STILL does the same puppet show from when I was a kid. A MUST for families, couples & friends all year round! I've been going to Burger Farm since I was a kid. I went on field trips for school, family trips, and sometimes just to go by myself. Burger Farm had always been a fantastic place as child because of the amount of activities that they offer. They put up tons of little carnival style booths with games like Duck Pond, Lollipop Pull, and Skeeball. They also have tons of mini rides, like go kart races, and others to keep any kid occupied for the day. One of my favorite things to do was watch the puppet show that is put on every hour. It isn't so much interesting now that I'm older but it still brings back memories of all of my trips the Burger Farm. Stick around after the show for a farm-wide Chicken dance. Another neat thing to do is give the Hay Maze a try. Don't get stuck though, it's not as easy as it looks. The best time to go is during the fall around Halloween. This is when all of the pumpkins, gorges, and corn husk novelties are put out for sale. Shop to your hearts desire. This is without a doubt the best place to go to get your pumpkins for either carving or just for show. I say this because you can either pick from any of the huge bins full of pumpkins or go on the hayride back into their personal pumpkin patch and pick em right out of the ground (sorta). The Hayride is a blast and the kids love running around the patch looking at all of the different sized and shaped pumpkins. After the ride grab a bite to at eat some of the concession stands around the farm. Make sure to get some apple cider that's made "in-house", or should I say, "in-barn". Don't worry if you didn't get enough because you can buy it by the gallon if you so choose. Grab up some candy or caramel apples to go along with the cider. Better than anything you'll get in any grocery store. If you plan on heading out to Burger Farms make sure you have a full day as you will surely want to experience every aspect of the property. It is a little bit out of the way which could push people away from going but I urge you to give it a shot. Besides your not really going to find a farm any closer than this one. You can really go any time of the year but the Fall is their main attraction and I would hold off going until this time anyway or your not going to get the full experience. And for your kids sake (or the kid inside of you) you want the full experience. read more

Really awesome place to take your family. Only $5 for adults. $10 for kids over 2 yo. The hay ride was so much fun. They have a nice pumpkin patch. Pumpkins are $0.47 per pound. The fall festival they throw here is a lot of fun. Especially for kids..and for adults with kids..for the kids..ha..it's mainly for kids. They have stands set up all over that include games and activities for kids to try. They also have a couple kids leaning carnival rides set up. There's this other area they have there called..pumpkinland I think? It's this area they set up in a barn that reminiscent of animatronic Christmas displays they have out for the holidays..only with all pumpkin and Halloween related things instead. Its actually kind of creepy..I can see kids being scared of it as it freaked me out a bit. They had pony's for kids to ride and well as other random animals to interact with. They have a hay ride too that you can take to get to where their pumpkin patch is. It's a nice little ride with fun little pop up Halloween figures on the way. We went the day before Halloween so the patch was pretty much picked over, but there were still a few good ones here and there. To get in cost $3, and then you can buy tickets for $1.50 each to play the games or ride the rides. Seemed pretty reasonable. The $3 admission gets you the hay ride and pumpkinland (or whatever its called) for free too..really a pretty great deal compared to other Fall/Halloween activities in the Cincinnati area. They also have a food stand with a pretty full menu. I had an apple cider icee because I have been craving one all season..it did not disappoint! There's a general store there as well where you can purchase apple cider..and the day we went there were a couple vendors set up at the entrance selling little crafts and jams and other things. Overall it's just a fun little festival they set up and I would recommend checking it out next year when it comes around again. read more

I have never been here pre-pandemic, but was super impressed when I stopped in first thing this morning. Carts were sanitized at the entrance and aisles had a lot of space between them to allow people to spread out. Employees were all wearing masks, but still responded to questions and provided great service. Bought mulch at checkout and drove around to the pickup location where they loaded it for me. Also had a beautiful selection of flowers. Was happy to get some Vinca this early in the season. read more

I always try to review the place I go and not rope in any comparisons - after all, each place is trying to be the best it can be. There are a wide variety of Fall Festivals to choose from and perhaps another would float your boat just as well. But I took my 6 year old nephew and he thoroughly enjoyed himself. You must pass through the paid attractions before making it to the free, but the free attractions are AWESOME. For one child, 12 attraction tickets was plenty and required him to make a few choices. He left with lots of new memories. The food selection is great as well and the cider was wonderful. I do recommend coming with cash (though THEY DO TAKE CARDS!). If you'd like to pay cash the entire day... eat, pay for attractions, leave with cider and a pumpkin I'd recommend bringing around $100 for one adult and one child. You can ABSOLUTELY enjoy yourselves for $50 but much less than that and your adventure might seem a little lack luster. That said, I'm not wild about having to pay admission and then buy more stuff. If your charging $10 per kid, each kid should get an adult in for free. But, there was certainly no lack of attendance and honestly I'd pay to go again so don't listen to me lol. Though, I would be interested in a "pass" of sorts for free admission throughout the season that comes with 20 ride tickets and 4 hot dog vouchers. I'd pay $55 for that! read more

I have gotten the majority of my houseplants from their garden center. I enjoy the wide variety they keep in stock, and they often have smaller versions of popular plants so you can try out new ones without the stress of spending an arm and a leg on something that may die. I have seen some pests on some of their plants in the past, but as a consumer in my opinion you should check plants for pest PRIOR to purchasing and pests are always likely to be present in a greenhouse. The amount of pests I have seen on plants is minimal, I just want to make clear that it's important to inspect your plants before buying and any pests you may find is not an issue with Burger as much as just part of buying plants anywhere. Bonus points for the cute cats they have running around the greenhouse that are super sweet! read more

BURGER FARM'S OCTOBER PUMPKIN SEASON When my children were little we would go to Burger Farm and we enjoyed it every year. It was wonderful! This year we went with my daughter, son in law and grandchildren. Honestly it was ok but we wont go back. It was all so commercial. I felt like I was standing on a fair midway (with all the cement) rather then at a farm. The hayride was nice but the scenery was not at all. No cuteness at all. We have gone to other pumpkin farms were they have sunflower walking fields and their hay ride is charming. We purchased tickets for the children to do some of the activities. $1.50 /ticket. THATS ludicrous!. Meaning for $1.50 your child can do one sucker pull. Really? I realize that this is a money making event, as it should be, and I would not be opposed to paying more if it were worth it Way to commercial, certainly no charm on the farm here. read more

I loved the garden center. They have good plants and good soil. I went everyday for a week this summer, and it was fun every time. I remember some festival they had last fall, however. There were a lot of unhealthy animals displayed and kids were teasing them. I yelled at the disgusting children and even at some of their more disgusting parents. Like I don't care. I'll yell at people again. Anyway, if I see something like that at this place again, I won't go back. I won't to support anyone who wants to profit from allowing animals to be tortured. read more

The wide selection and helpful staff make this nursery a must visit. We got our dragon wing begonias for handing baskets and a deep blue/purple clematis. Burger Farm has a wonderful fall festival and pumpkin hayride, but it's so much more. This is one of the best garden centers in Cincinnati, with reasonably-priced plants (both annuals and perennials) and a broader selection than you'll find in many other garden centers. They have unusual plants, unusual colors, and it's an overall wondeful place to browse for your garden. There's also a fantastic selection of pots, garden accessories and decorations, and plant care items. The staff is friendly and it's easy to find help when you need it. The fall festival was an annual tradition with our family when our son was little - rides, ponies, animals, games, face-painting, a puppet show, and of course the hayride to the pumpkin patch at the back of the property. Only 3 stars because I don't have children. But it would be heaven for a family with children. My complaints are that I wish I was able to get my pumpkin from a patch instead of bins. And I wish there were more pumpkin/fall flavored food items. The cider slushy was really good and the decor is very interesting. There's food but not much variety. Just went to Burger Farm to buy some perennials for fall planting (the prime planting season) and the very rude worker not only said they don't have any at all, but took a cell phone call during the middle of our conversation/questions.
