Cinema Cafe offers a weekly dinner special for AU$20 - you get main and choice of wine (Cab Merlot or Chardonnay). So far, I've come here for the Wednesday 200g Rump Steak twice, and the Thursday Lamb Shank. Tuesdays they offer Salmon. Steak is cooked to order. I like mine medium-rare, and they did just that. The steak comes with a red wine jus, roasted root vegetables (beetroot - which I happily passed over to my husband, sweet potato, and baby potatoes), and tempera onion rings (they use red onions). YUM. The Lamb Shank deliciously fall off the bone, and is served with mash, mint pesto. Note: The Kitchen for these specials open at 5:30.
Cinema Cafe also offer breakfast, lunch, Merlo coffees. Be sure to check the trading hours on their website because they do open late on some days. Food wise, I have had no disappointment, however sometimes the water they bring out is funky tasting (like freezer burn), but I suspect it may be due to the pitcher or the glasses used.
Outdoor seating is available and is great for viewing the crowds along Oxford Street, and as the name suggests, it is just a couple doors down from the Cinemas. read more
