There was wrappers in cup holders and at front desk a guy said the machine was broken but it wasn't and he said "Oh,now it is working" and a bunch of spilled popcorn on the ground and under the chair and I do not recommend this place.never again read more

The concession Stands are a mess. Nice enough staff. The ticket taker guy was pleasant and directed us to our theater. The seats are recline but dirty. Maybe I am just having a bad day. read more

I grew up here. Loved it growing up. Now it's just grey, terrible. Just save your money and go to bistro or Tinseltown.

The chairs at this location will not recline properly. Though they do recline, upon landing on your chair, they make a hard thump against the step behind you, where other Cinermark or other brand of theaters, the chair bounces back and forth for your comfort. The carpet here used to smell, but not anymore. They must have changed the carpeting, but the place still looks old. An arcade section is available if you want to play some video games or air hockey, but other than that, this Cinemark doesn't do anything remarkable to stand out or to highlight recommend. I attend here when the times for a show are convenient or when it is the only theatre showing a specific movie, like the Dr. Who specials. However, this theatre is not my primary theatre of choice. It's out of my way and when given an opportunity, is stick with the other Cinemarks near the area, or Carmike, it's competitor. read more

Sometimes you just don't have the funds to take out everyone for a movie, and Cinemark Hollywood USA, although an older theater, is the one. The seats in number 17 are good, and we got there just in time to locate good seats. Spiderman movie was great! My nephews and I enjoyed it. When asked what was a favorite part of the movie, my 11-year-old nephew replied that the beginning section when Peter Parker was making a video diary of his trip to meet Iron Man, Captain America and others. My 14-year-old nephew thought on in for a few minutes and then stated that he liked the way this movie tied in the other Marvel movies. My favorite part of the movie was the moment Peter, under the rubble that was supposed to kill him, realized that he was worth it! Great movie pick by my nephews as I most likely would not have chosen this, and this was a day out at the movies for us to enjoy our time together. :o) read more

Until the Carmike movie theater in Edinburg opened, this was my go-to movie theater in McAllen... mainly because it was close to my house. I remember way back when, when it was only a Movies 10, then they expanded to a total of 17 screens. Didn't feel like driving to Edinburg last night, so I bought a ticket to Iron Man 2 on Fandango at this theater. Seems people aren't really all that aware that there's a ticket kiosk right inside the door, so no waiting in line to get tickets or to just pick them up. It wasn't ridiculously busy, even for a Saturday night and viewing a brand new movie... I even had an empty seat next to me, once I settled into my chair. Part of the upgrade from Movies 10 to 17 were slightly reclining chairs and stadium seating, making things pretty comfy. Movie and sound quality is acceptable, the allowance of little kids into late showings is irritating... though they were pretty well behaved last night. So far, nothing too bad to say. The snacks are of regular, movie theater variety... another reason Carmike was so popular when it opened (they have coffee! And ice cream!), but I'm pretty much a popcorn and Cherry Coke kind of girl (they don't have Dr. Pepper, only Mr. Pibb, so CC is my backup), so that's what I ordered upon this last visit. Well, the popcorn was DOUSED in the fake, greasy butter. He didn't layer it carefully, just poured it all right on top. I couldn't eat it, even with a side of nacho cheese. I'd forgotten napkins and was there by myself... got tired of ridiculously greasy fingers after about 10 minutes and just gave up. Couldn't even dig down far enough to avoid it all without dumping popcorn all over the floor... others may be all about doing that, but I have manners... I even throw my stuff away upon leaving the theater! Long story short, I think I'll probably drive the extra few miles to Carmike, but this'll do in a pinch. And I'll never forget the napkins again. read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS 0 STARS. NEVER GOING THERE EVER AGAIN! Last night my sister, brother in law, my boyfriend and I went to go watch Evil dead rise. My brother in law had paid for our tickets online hours before the showing. When we got to the auditorium there were people sitting at our seats. We told them those were our seats and then the lady said that that they were moved from another auditorium because something had gone wrong and the manager said they can sit wherever they want. What got us so upset is that the manager told the poeple that got moved to our auditorium that they were able to sit ANYWHERE they wanted. Why would you do that when poeple specifically choose the seats they want to sit in. Anyways the girl and her daughters didn't want to leave because she said the manager said they were able to sit anywhere. We got so upset and I went to go ask for the manager. When I confronted the manager about the situation all he said was he had to move them to our auditorium because the one they were in something had gone wrong with the movie. so I proceeded to tell him that we had payed for our tickets and that we would like to sit on the seats we chose. And all he said was it's a first come first serve. Like what?!?! Why is it first come first serve when we chose the seats we wanted way before?? He didn't even want to do anything about it. He just asked if we wanted a different show time which we refused. We ended up sitting at some other seats because we didn't want to miss the movie with all this mess. The manager handled everything so poorly and very unprofessional. He didn't even want to do anything about the whole situation. read more

It's a movie theatre that shows movies. The popcorn is good and so is the coke. I'm not looking for much here only the floors not to be sticky of slippery and the movie not to have glitches. Though they do need to go all Alamo on the phone users in the place. read more

Not better, not worse, just a few more details. Arcade has better games and bathrooms are cleaner than Tinseltown. You can sign up for weekly offers on cinemark.com for both theaters. They're usually redeemable for a free small drink or small popcorn, plus discounted candy and combos. Not gonna save you much, but a dollar's a dollar. read more

They denied us service because not all of us were of age to watch a rated R movie even though we already bought the tickets.

This theater has really gotten old in the last few years. With new theaters opening up like the cine mark Bistro and the cinemark tinseltown, this theater has fell behind in the industry. The seats were my main gripe about this place. It was so uncomfortable to sit dowb making my movie experience for kick ass 2 somewhat unenjoyable. Please, someone, focus on the sound quality. This is a location that could use an upgrade. After going to other remodeled Cinemark locations around the RGV I found this spot tired, dull, and with the most uncomfortable seats. As a decently sized person I was squished between the people on either side of me thanks to the small seats. You will be served better in that regard going to other Cinemark theaters in that Mcallen area. Also, the concessions area there is very low. I have been to other locations where the lines moved much faster and smoother. read more

Old theater but still good. Also the most likely to have movies of cultural or historical value. It could use a facelift though. Restroom only on the extreme ends so you might have a long walk during the movie. read more

Well I'll just go right ahead and say it: I HATE going to the movies in the Valley. Never have I seen more irritating and disrespectful movie-goers. I do not understand why people feel so entitled to do whatever the hell they want during a movie and why they feel they are above the rules. I will not talk about this any more, even though I really want to vent about the stupid b***h who talked (not whispered but TALKED) and checked Facebook on her bright-ass phone throughout the ENTIRE LENGTH of Django. Instead, I will talk about how this was handled by movie staff. Oh wait, it wasn't. When management at any company has a problem, they need to at least attempt to address the problem. Notice that I did not even say "solve" but "address". The management of Hollywood must know that this is a problem and it would be a great comfort to see that at least something is being done. Something, anything, at this point. After all, you are charging people ten dollars to see one movie. Another reason for the one-star: the gd employees. When I walked up to the counter to get popcorn, the jerk employee just stared at me. No "what can I get you" but just stared at me. And this was no friendly stare, this was a rather aggressive stare. The kind of stare you give someone you really hate and don't want to talk to but is coming towards you. Look, I'm am not expecting a "Hi, how are you on this fine day ma'm". A simple "what can I get you" will suffice. You don't have to smile, just be cordial. When that super weird interaction ended, we had another weird interaction with the fat B at the ticket counter. My bf had 4 digital tickets (on his phone) but someone in our party hadn't arrived yet. So my bf asked this chick what he could do since he didn't have physical tickets. Instead of talking to us like human beings, a response that would have taken 5 seconds, she had a super annoyed look on her face and fiddled with the ticket machine and basically threw my boyfriend 4 paper tickets in exchange for the digital tickets. So to summarize, 1) Hollywood needs to address the dumbasses who frequent this movie theater 2) Hollywood needs to either a) stop hiring jerks or b) give better customer service training. Look, most of these kids will more than likely just end up with a high school degree (this is the statistics talking, not me) but they are capable of learning a thing or two. The theater is just okay. It's a bit on the smaller side and it gets pretty crowded. If you're an adult however, you may want to skip this theater. I went with my fiance to see the movie "her" because this was the only theater in the area playing it. The movie was awesome, but the experience, not so much. Whats the problem? The TEENAGERS! Dear god all the damn teenagers. There was a group of 3 (1 girl, 2 boys) in the theater with us and I was very close to slapping all 3 of them in the face. The stupid girl wouldn't shut up. She was laughing the whole time and the boys wouldn't stop talking. Even after we left I could here this annoying girls laugh through out the parking lot. Shouldn't they have gone to see that stupid Hercules movie, at least that movie is at their level of intelligence. This isn't entirely the theaters fault, but it seems to be a popular theater for the young crowd and they will annoy you. Just letting you know what to expect from the environment here, even if it's not the theaters fault. If these kids can't act mature for as little as 2 hours, they should go and sit back at the kiddie table. read more

This is my go to place for movies. Although a few other theaters here are nice and bigger, this is my favorite. I like the atmosphere and they always keep it clean. They still have movie prices which are sometimes outside my budget and it gets busy on the weekends. I go early in the week to take advantage of the quiet times and it makes it thoroughly enjoyable. The people who work there are friendly and the audience, in my opinion is more respectful than the audience members you are with at the dollar movies. But it's the dollar movies so what do you expect. I have had times when the movie theater was too busy and we could not find good seats, so the movie theater was more than willing to refund our tickets. Another cool thing about this location is that they have a church service there on Sunday mornings at 10:15. I've attended the church before (the church is called Awaken) and it's cool and they are very welcoming. It's fun to be in church and smell the buttered popcorn coming from the lobby. So if anyone is searching for a small church I would recommend checking them out. Overall this is just a great movie theater for all the family, and kudos for them allowing the church to hold their services there. read more

omg this was the worst experience!!!!first the seats were small and it felt like everyone was piled on top of each other. second but definitely important the air conditioning system waa broke!!!! so being piled on top of each other with no air for 2 hours was horrible!!! i wanted to enjoy the lion king like i did as a kid but there was babies hollering because they were hot and the only speaker yhat work in theather 5 was the one above the screen, so yes you had to really listen to here over the hollering kids!!! read more

This is sometimes the only place in the Valley to see independent films. Cinemark generally plays lavish big-studio movies and lowbudget horror. But if you're in the mood for something other than superhero blockbusters or teens in jeopardy, the Hollywood is the venue that Cinemark often chooses to play specialty titles for discerning filmgoers, maybe because of its proximity to UTRGV.
