Our go to movie theater. The parking situation is odd since they're doing construction. The lobby is relatively clean. It depends on the day of the week and how busy they are, honestly. Their concession line is super slow. Would recommend getting there early or ordering ahead to get to your seat on time. Their popcorn is decent. Not the best I've had, but it's fresh. Bathrooms can be stinky. They don't have paper towels, just hand dryers. Some of the sinks don't work. The IMAX theater has some steep steps, so be careful. I think I've tripped every time. The theater is clean. The leather isn't ripped. They recline. The audio visuals are good. read more

Needs work, improvements, and cleaning! Recently noticed bathrooms need work- broken toilets, dirty. Outside, as u exit needs power wash. Some seats in theaters are worn, need replacing. Clearly, management is not maintaining this place. It used to be better! read more

This theatre has made a lot of improvements. So many so that I have raised the review by one more star for a total of five stars. Now, all seats can be pre-puchased and preselected through the Cinemark app or through the Fandango app. This way, you aren't caught in an awkward situation on which you are looking for a seat because you didn't show up an hour before the movie started. The concession stands are fast paced. Now, Cinemark also has a movie pass for 8.99 a month. That price gives you one free movie entrance and makes future movie purchases 8.99 (for up to 2 people per show). This is great because in the weekend, prices go up considerably. On top of that, you get a 20% discount at the concession stands. If you like buying popcorn and drinks for the family, you can see the discount happen right at you very eyes after showing your movie pass. Overall, I've had a good movie experience this past year at this theatre. read more

My family and I saw a great matinee documentary today, Disney's "Born In China" (worth seeing just for the amazing scenery) at the Cinemark theater at the Pharr Town Center. This is the new theatre complex and it is very nice. 16 theatres with confortable and ample seating, very large screens and great sound. There is a cafe (Starbucks) and a bar as you enter (also offering ice cream). Then the self service concessions include traditional and kettle salty sweet popcorn, and many other food items such as hot dogs, chicken wings, burgers, and shrimp. ...for a price, of course. In the halls there are seating areas and pleasant surroundings. The bathroom at the time of our visit needed some attention, as trash cans were overflowing and sinks needed a wipe down. Since it was early and a weekday that surprised me. The place charges "precio de gringo" (tourist prices), but based on today's experience it's a nice theatre overall. New building, nice parking, central location. I am glad to see the renovation of this part of town. So much better than the old El Centro mall it replaced. However, be aware there are still some panhandlers who "work" this area during the day. We were approached before we could even get out of our car. The woman came right up to the window and tapped on the glass while her husband (?) watched from the shade. Not sure how it is at night, though I'm glad the issue regarding off duty peace officers carrying concealed firearms was resolved. Lovely modern facility. The theater was comfortable with stadium style seating. There are bins for recycling different items. The concession area was bigger than at other Cinemark theaters I've been to and part of it was self-serve. In addition to the standard things they also serve ice cream and alcohol which is pretty cool. My only complaint was that the place was dirty. I guess with it being a new facility I expected it to be clean or something. Nope, not the case. Two out of three of the bathroom stalls I tried were clogged up and the floor in the lobby was littered with popcorn. There were plenty of employees and everyone seemed to be busy except for the gal with the broom and dustpan. As we sat in the lobby waiting for our movie we literally watched her do nothing for 15 minutes. We would definitely give it another try. Hopefully next time it will be clean. read more

Definitely one of the nicest cinemas in the area. This has been my go-to for a few years now. To me, it's worth the drive from Mission. The location is great, right next to Main Event a good place to stop by if you are an hour or so early. They have plenty of parking space, not an issue at all. I prefer ordering online, I normally choose the "luxury loungers," awesome, comfortable and very relaxing, they are recliners. Plus, you get to pick your own seat, no waiting in line for good seats. I've been wanting to try the "D-Box" seats but the price made me go for what I normally get. I've been to a few screenings in "X-D" but prefer the regular digital, my eyes get a bit irritated in "X-D" I normally get coupons for drinks and popcorn, it adds up to a few dollars but every little bit helps. I don't like drinking alcohol at a theater but there is some available for those who do. Prices I think are pretty average, on the higher end, coupons always help! I've been here about 15 times since they opened and have never had any issues. Everything is very clean the times I've been here. Highly recommend it, definitely worth the drive. read more

The so called manager of this establishment is horrific. I was trying to use app to order tickets and food, and due to app not working right I was not able to order the food in time.( I tried for an hour before show time). When I asked if I could get the combo offered on app she said no, when I explained why I was unable to get it on line, she indirectly called me a liar. "No one else has complained about app" were her exact words. Then blamed me "user error" mind u I've used this app for over 3 yrs already. If this is what Cinemark considers managment material then AMC it is. Ms. Reyes has no business working in any customer service oriented position much less management. do not purchase D-BOX tickets. all of the DBOX seats are worn out and it's disgusting. The discoloration you see on the seats are the patches of the leather/vinyl that is completely gone. the back cushions are completely gone I don't know how anyone isn't complaining about this and how they have not replace them. if they are going to have DBox seating they should not charge the full amount. read more

I really love this theater. Newer than the one on Nolana. Never had any issues. One of the best things about this place used to be they had all the jalapeños you could eat out in the self serve section. I loved grabbing a bunch to have with my popcorn. Sadly they took it away and replaced it with pay for a small bag for a $1. Sucked. But I still love the XD and the recliner seats. Popcorn is always fresh too and can add as much butter as you like in the self serve area. Definitely one of the better options in McAllen. read more

First time at this theatre. Ordered chicken tenders($8.20 plus tax) with fries. Very disappointed with it because they only give you 2 small tenders with a bunch of fries. Come to find out they go based on weight, so they add more fries and less tenders. We also ordered super nachos. Comes with olives, cheese, and avocado. Cheese did not taste well. The only thing good was the chairs and that the place looked clean. I recommend you eat elsewhere before going to that theatre. read more

The movie portion is good but if you order online food and drinks expect to wait longer than those who arrive. We waited 7 minutes to get our order and with two people working on it (slowly) there were four people come in and order and get their food and such. Very bad service in this department. read more

Visited on 5/26/19 @2:35... Theater itself was very clean as well as restrooms but, what good does it do the place when the staff is rude and does not follow food handlers rule correctly. After having the cafe woman rudely take my order (3cookies) she put ONE glove on which didn't help bc she touch my cookies w/ her bare hand either way right after handling the cash register! Popcorn staff was rude as well when asking a simple question as to where are the jalapeños or cheese. It was my 2nd time here but would much rather go to a different theater. read more

BOYCOTT OF CINEMARK PHARR TOWN CENTER THEATER, PHARR, TEXAS. Attention Sheepdogs! Today, the anti-police sentiment that is poisoning our nation hit home. Mr. Scott and Mrs. Vega, Theater Management, took it upon themselves to ask an off duty Texas Peace Officer (TPO) to remove his weapon and put it in his car or they were going to call the police to file charges on him. The TPO was with his family, weapon and badge concealed under his shirt. When putting items in his pocket, the managers saw his badge and gun and approached him demanding that he disarm. They stated they had the authority under the posted 30.06 and 30.07 signs to ask him to disarm or leave. The TPO explained to them the correct purpose of the signs and that the Texas Penal Code allowed him to carry his weapon and badge, as well as an Agency policy that demanded off duty carry. He showed them his badge and agency credentials. They continued to threaten to call the police if he did not disarm. In the interest of de escalating the now, very embarrassing situation, the TPO removed his weapon and badge and secured it in his vehicle. This is the law; § 46.15. NONAPPLICABILITY. (a) Sections 46.02 and 46.03 do not apply to: (1) peace officers, including commissioned peace officers of a recognized state, or special investigators under Article 2.122, Code of Criminal Procedure, and neither section prohibits a peace officer or special investigator from carrying a weapon in this state, including in an establishment in this state serving the public, regardless of whether the peace officer or special investigator is engaged in the actual discharge of the officer's or investigator's duties while carrying the weapon...etc. We, the protectors of our communities, are calling for a boycott of Cinemark Pharr Town Center Theater, 600 N. Jackson Rd, Pharr, Texas until we receive a public apology from the ignorant management of this theater. In a post Aurora Theater Massacre world, our Police should be welcomed with open arms, not embarrassed and thrown out of these high profile and high risk businesses. United We Stand! I, too, find it extremely concerning that a manager allegedly refused to allow an off-duty law enforcement officer to remain on the premises simply because he had his firearm in his possession - something he carries on duty, and had been trained with. Most establishments recognize the value of having LEO's on their premises - in fact, many HIRE them as security. I truly do not understand this mindset or mentality. I very much want an armed, trained LEO around (on or off duty) if and when something horrific occurs (remember Aurora?). We will be passing on this incident within my Union/labor organization. Information and education for all is do very important in this day and age. read more

I will never return to this theater if I can help it. Firstly, it's chaotic and unorganized. For such a huge theater, I feel like everyone is on top of each other. The concession stand is oddly arranged in a cafeteria-style that boils down into a pushing and shoving match. People can handpick what they want and I feel this makes things quite unsanitary. I watched a little kid grab a package of candy, lick it, then put it back on the stand! What looked like a plus was that they have a Starbucks. However, when I ordered my drink I waited at least 20 minutes for a drink that was way too sweet (I ordered my drink unsweetened). On Christmas night, I went with my mother and grandmother to meet some of my cousins for a Star Wars viewing. We got their an hour & a half before our showing and asked one of the floor managers about where we should sit to wait. Having already purchased our tickets on Fandango, we were told to wait in the lobby. Then twenty minutes before the movie was to begin, we asked a different floor manager if our theater was ready. The manager then spoke very rudely to me, pushed me aside, and proceeded to rudely yell at my mother and I several more times. On Christmas, no less! Apparently, we were supposed to have waited outside in a long line, even though we hadn't been told to do so. Least to say, we promptly had our tickets refunded and complained to guest services. The parking lot was packed and two gentlemen (if you can call them that) got into a fight in the middle of the street! Security was called and that was the end of our Christmas Night venture. This has to be the best theater around the RGV. Im so glad that it is next to my house. I used to live next to the Bistro theater before it opened, but it never opened. Then it opened and it was just ok. THIS theater is nice the sound is awesome and it looks majestic. The RGV is coming around finally. All we need now is an in and out burger. My only gripe is that it is not Imax. They have a XD but only one movie. Still, my favorite theater. read more

A nice, shiny new theater in a part of town that has, until recently, been questionable. It's nice to see McAllen expanding so (I know, I know, it's technically Pharr). The newer Cinemark concept was a little confusing for ME, so I'll help you out. You can buy tickets online or at the theater (box office inside, kiosks outside)... pretty standard, really. The concession process REALLY threw me for a loop. A good selection of beer (Lagunitas! Devil's Backbone!), wine, frozen drinks, coffee, and ice cream are available for purchase before you enter the concession area. One thing, there's a limit to three alcoholic beverages per person and you can only buy one at a time. They give you a paper wristband upon the first purchase, not sure what they do subsequently. This is where it gets confusing. Concessions are pretty much self serve. You enter the concession area and grab whichever candies, fried snacks, soft drinks, or bottle drinks that you like (popcorn is in a separate area, it is served to you) and pay at the end of your adventure through concession. Theaters are nice, with stadium seating and reclining chairs. Sound quality is good as is picture quality. Annoying ads before the movie, but, you know. Smartphone. Speaking of smartphones, download the Cinemark app. Before the start of a movie, you can put your phone into "Cinemode." At the end of the movie, turn Cinemode off and receive rewards like popcorn and soft drinks! Cinemark REALLY needs to regulate/enforce texting rules and kids in the theater. Sure, I expect kids to be in, say, The Lego Movie.... but not in a 10:40pm showing of RoboCop. I had the misfortune of sitting in front of a couple of them (I was seated first!), so I was victim of seat kicking and whining and loud kid talking. I'm not one for confrontation, so I just kept glancing back, but it didn't really do much good. When I come to McAllen, it's sort of become a "thing" to go to the movies with my family, so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

The worst theater experience in the valley, showed up stood in line only to find out that without any kind of notice for whatever reason management decided to change the showtimes and sell our prepaid reserved seats to their friends or family simply because they could. An email would have solved everything. Management and staff here are absolutely pathetic. I am now an A-lister at AMC which is a 110% better theater experience than this clown show. read more

This is a very poorly run theater. We came in about 20 minutes early for the new Star Wars movie which started at about 12:45. We went over to the concessions to grab a bite since it was around lunch time. I asked for pizza, they said it would take 2 minutes. So, then I asked for hot dogs, the man went into the kitchen an brought out two trays of hot dogs then asked me what size I wanted. I asked for the smaller one, he said it would be a while for them to finish cooking. So I asked for the half-pound hot dog instead, he said the same thing. What's the point of asking? I went ahead and grabbed nachos and popcorn (lunch of champions), and proceeded to pay. There was no warm cheese. The only plus side is the XD theater with the recliners. I go those every time. Visiting Pharr, I really liked this theater. It has ample parking in the front, and the theater is somewhat big. They offer ice cream, Cheetos with cheese (my favorite), alcoholic beverages and your regular popcorn, candies and drinks to consume. The theaters themselves have few seating- referring to the theaters with the luxury seatings that have few seats. With a part of the theater and several theater chairs being designated to D box seats. In between theaters, outside there are chairs and seating to lounge in- which I thought was nice. In addition the theater has a small game room near the entrance. Another plus is that I liked the luxury of being able to print your tickets at the entrance of the theater. As for luxury chairs, the chairs are able to recline back and controlled with a button. Very comfortable, leather seats with cup holders on each side. Overall, great theater with luxury seats, clean and beautiful theater! Definitely will be returning! read more

Newer theatre in the RGV. Stadium seating with nice cushioned seats. What I like most about this location compared to Tinseltown or Hollywood is the way the concession is constructed. During busy hours you don't have to wait in long lines to grab your snacks due to the well constructed concession stand. Popcorn, drinks and candies are in different stations. You grab what you need and pay at the end. Huge parking lot and bathrooms can be more clean kept but it's not bad. I prefer going to this location than one 5 minutes away from me. read more

This is hands down probably the best theatre we have here. It's clean and the seats are just great. Seats can always be reserved online so it won't be a problem to have to be there early just to try and get a good view of the screen. The staff seems to always be in a good mood and if you stick to watching movies in XD, you probably won't ever go back to standard viewing. read more
