I've never made my own perfume so I was so excited to get started. Victor greeted us and gave us a tour of the store. He started with telling us all about the history of perfume making and also gave us a pamphlet with all kinds of information about how to pair scents and different vocabulary to use when describing them. There are 15 different scents that we started off smelling to see what we liked and then we narrowed them down to a few that were our favorites and a few that would blend well together. The coolest part was getting to add different things to add to our base scents like vanilla, amber, musk, and tobacco (just to name a few). Once we decided on the combination that worked best for us we got to pour in our base scents and Victor explained the math behind bringing everything together. I really appreciated how detailed the entire process was. He also left a little space in the perfume bottles so we could test the scent he made on our skin to see if it needed to be edited any further by adding any scent that might have been over powered by another to find that perfect balance. He gave suggestions and was so helpful with everything. We could tell he is very passionate about creating different perfumes and it made the experience so personal. Once everything was mixed we were able to pick a name for our perfumes to make it our own. We got beautiful labels put on our perfume bottles and nice bags to keep them in. He told us to wait a week for the perfume to blend completely and to test it again while all of the notes are at their peak. This was so much fun and I would definitely go back for another session and bring more people.

I had to use self restraint and remind myself I'm an adult, and I really don't need one. I did indulge, however , in some gorgeous paper products. They make me happy! Just wonderful! I am from out of town. I happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by this…read morebook sale. Today (May 15) was the first day of the third weekend of their May sale. I can only imagine the selection at the beginning of the sale and how much stock was probably available. Even so, the selection today was remarkable. You certainly get a flavor for what all the college professors are requiring lit majors to buy by the mass quantities of certain titles. Anyhow, this sale has all kinds of books that are organized by topic and then by author. Really well run and the staff is friendly and efficient. Cash, check or card accepted. Today they marked down the prices; the most expensive book was 50 cents. The deals are wild! Masks and social distancing are enforced. There was a line outside when I arrived (5:15pm) and I waited for about 20-25 minutes to get in. It seemed to be a slower time and I'm not sure what the wait would be if it was a peak hour. If you pay $100 to become a "friend" you can have early accsss. It was well worth my time and I'm happy to support this organization!
