I know maybe I should've stayed with my car I just ran into grab a soda. And since I have NEVER had a pumps safety feature of stopping when it's full not work I assumed getting a soda was no cause for alarm. Lesson learned. Why I'm upset is the "manager" here was completely rude to me. First she avoided me for about 5 minutes walking around the store doing small tasks when i kept waiting for her. She didn't even go out to put a bag over the pump while I was there to stop others from using it! Huge safety hazard considering there is about 7 gallons of gas sitting on the ground! When I finally asked her (i'm very calm at this point mind you) what they could do about this since it malfunctioned and I was still charged she said "oh there's no way you're getting your money back" and then whispered to the girl behind her that the pump was working fine before. After that I'll admit I was not the most pleasant. She was unbelievable and left me walking to my car in tears. A nice stranger helped push my car out of all the gas so nothing would catch on fire! Thank you to that stranger, you were so kind! How on earth does Shell employ someone so rude? As a MANAGER none the less. Maps wasn't helpful to find the gas station in relation to the warehouse store, and it wasn't clear visually when we entered the parking lot. Had to slowly weave through pedestrian traffic before getting close enough to identify. The nozzle hoses are long enough to not worry about which side your gas tank opening is on. But in this case, certain cars were waiting while the next nozzle lay empty, so it ended up being no wait for us. We've realized that the set-up here (3 islands, 2 pumps each for a total of 12 nozzles) is typical. I wonder what the locals here would say if they saw some of the lot bigger gas stations (40 fueling positions) in California.

Also has upstairs bathroom available with microwave and condiments. For the grocery store side...things are pretty well stocked and pretty well labeled/marked per aisle.

The warm, attentive interactions that once defined the Publix experience are becoming harder to find. It feels like the store became a little too comfortable being the only major grocery option in the area for a while--and that has affected how customers are treated. With new competition moving in--Nexton, Moncks Corner, and the upcoming Carnes Crossroads locations--there's going to be more choice for shoppers. I hope this motivates the Cane Bay store to refocus on the exceptional service Publix is known for. I still shop here and appreciate many things about this store, but it's time to step it back up. Speedway has plenty of parking if you just need to go into the store, and there's a lot of room between pumps, so it's not cramped and easy to manuver a larger vehicle. Inside, there's an ATM, some prepared gas station style foods (pizza, hot dogs, etc), and a good selection of snacks and other junk for the road. You can even get a F'real milkshake here, which is pretty cool. It's easy to get in or out from both Main Rd. or Savannah Hwy, although traffic often backs up since people turn onto Main Rd. because they don't know about the other entrance. Speedway's your average gas station and nothing special, but it's a good stop on your way down Hwy 17 to Charleston or Savannah or if you're heading down Main Rd. toward Kiawah.
